Description: Jim Peruto, in a 2006 NASCAR Dodge Charger, broke the world record on May 20th for averaging 217 mph (349 km/h) on a 90 mile (145 km) stretch of Nevada State Highway 318 during the Silver State Classic Challenge. Not only did Peruto break the record, but he smashed it, as the previous record set by Chuck Schafer and Gary Bockman in 2011 was set at 207mph (333 km/h).
