It is the first such freestanding facility in Sacramento County and represents a second fully licensed hospital on the UC Davis Sacramento Campus. Treating Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy with Stem Cells - The Promising Results of the HOPE-2 Trial UC Davis Health 2023-04-18 | Using stem cells derived from heart muscle cells, UC Davis researchers may have found a promising treatment for people with the progressive genetic disorder known as Duchenne muscular dystrophy (DMD). The therapy which has been tested in a multi-site HOPE-2 clinical trial appears to be safe and effective in stopping the deterioration of upper limb and heart functions in patients with DMD. It is the first treatment to lead to meaningful functional improvements in the most severe cases of DMD patients. Braylins Story - 2023 Childrens Miracle Network Champion UC Davis Health 2023-03-06 | Braylin McMullen is the 2023 Children’s Miracle Network (CMN) at UC Davis Children’s Hospital Champion. Her health journey began when she contracted E. coli when she was 3 years old. The bacteria damaged Braylin’s internal organs, requiring surgery. She was also diagnosed with end-stage renal disease and Type 1 diabetes. Braylin had more than a year of dialysis and then underwent a kidney transplant operation at the UC Davis Children’s Surgery Center.
