Cedar Point 1997 HalloWeekends CoasterBob62 2022-11-12 | "Another Reason to Scream in the Park" was the motto when HalloWeekends first made its appearance at Cedar Point in 1997. This is some "lost" footage I shot in September of 1997. I posted a small portion of this footage several years ago, but most of it has never seen the light of YouTube (mainly because I misplaced it.) In addition to HalloWeekends decorations (including many Pirate Ride figures) you'll see a partial Power Tower, a couple of dolphins in Oceana, some views inside the Aquarium, a round trip aboard the CP&LE RR, and way too much footage of Raptor and Mantis. Cedar Point HalloWeekends 2022 CoasterBob62 2022-11-08 | HalloWeekends first appeared at Cedar Point in 1997, and 2022 marked the 25th anniversary of this scary annual event. Most of this video was shot on Saturday, October 15, 2022. -- a beautiful but very crowded day. I returned on closing day, Sunday, October 30, 2022 to get some additional footage. Kings Island HAUNT 2022 CoasterBob62 2022-10-08 | The remnants of Hurricane Ian threatened to crash the party this particular Saturday night, but we were spared, making way for a delightful night of fun. Some notable changes: Coney Maul hired a DJ, Pumpkin Eaters was relocated, Urgent Scare was replaced by Hotel St. Michelle, new live shows, and the evil Eiffel Tower did bongs. I have video proof. My only complaint -- the loud thrash metal music dominating International Street all night. My ears are still ringing. Filmed Saturday, October 1, 2022. Cedar Point OPENING MONDAY 2022 CoasterBob62 2022-05-16 | There's nothing like visiting Cedar Point on opening day -- large crowds, long lines, many rides not open yet -- so I decided to visit on opening Monday :) Although the crowd wasn't too bad and the weather gorgeous, many rides were still testing. Wicked Twister looks to be completely removed, and that area fenced off (reminds me of 2012!) New this year is the Farmhouse Kitchen and Grill, which was built on the space formerly occupied by Antique Cars. The food was excellent! Filmed Monday, May 9, 2022.
Cedar Point 2012 CoasterBob62 2022-05-06 | When I visited Cedar Point in February 2012 for a winter tour, I had no idea that by the end of that season, Wildcat, Space Spiral, and Disaster Transport would be removed, and that a brand new roller coaster would be flying guests over a new entrance gate. The giant screen at the main train station was removed and Luminosity debuted with a new stage and bleachers. 2012 was also the first year for Dinosaurs Alive! which not only gave us lots of cool dinos to interact with, but fantastic views of Millennium Force! Roughly the first hour of this video contains the usual ride sequences and observations, then I explore the final days of Disaster Transport and Space Spiral. There is also a brief look at Halloweekends, but I felt the video was already lengthy without going into all of that footage, so I kept it relatively short. 2012 was also the first year I started recording in 1080 HD, but I didn't post in HD until now. Kings Island 2012 CoasterBob62 2022-04-09 | In 2012, Kings Island celebrated its 40th anniversary. Also in 2012, the mighty Son of Beast roller coaster was demolished. This video features various stages of SOB's demolition, highlights of Halloween Haunt, and the usual collection of rides I filmed between April 28 and October 28, 2012.Since Dinosaurs Alive! was an attraction with an upcharge, I didn't walk through the exhibit that season, so I have no footage (I'm cheap, what can I say?)
Cedar Point WINTER CHILL OUT 2022 CoasterBob62 2022-03-19 | This year's Winter Chill Out benefitted from a light coating of fresh snow the day before, and fairly decent weather the day of. We got our first look at the space where Wicked Twister once stood, and the new Farmhouse Kitchen and Grill in Frontier Town. Unfortunately for me, video recording was not permitted in many of the stops along the way -- fortunately for you, it made the video shorter! :D Filmed 2/25/22 (CP skyline footage) and 2/26/22. Some audio portions of this video were recorded before the event -- like, months and years before the event.Thanks to all of the folks who take the time to put this together for us -- job well done once again. The format keeps improving, making for a more enjoyable experience. It was also great to see so many friends I hadn't seen in months. Over $100,000 was raised for A Kid Again. Amazing.

Kings Island GRAND CARNIVALE 2021 CoasterBob62 2021-12-28 | I missed the debut of Kings Island's Grand Carnivale in 2019, so I made sure to catch it a couple of times when it returned in 2021. This video contains some of The Royal Opening Ceremony, but features The Spectacle of Color Parade from different vantage points. You may go insane watching this. Cedar Point CELEBRATE 150 SPECTACULAR CoasterBob62 2021-12-27 | Cedar Point had to wait a year to celebrate its 150th anniversary, but the wait was well worth it. Cedar Point 2021 CoasterBob62 2021-12-11 | For the 2021 season, I decided to take a break from producing multiple vlogs and instead gathered footage from all of my visits and created one vlog-like video. Cedar Point was finally able to celebrate it's 150th anniversary after being delayed a year by the pandemic. Wicked Twister gave its last rides in 2021, and Antique Cars was removed at the end of the season. I was there the day of the Top Thrill Dragster accident on August 15th, but I wasn't really aware of how serious it was at the time. Filmed 6/4/21, 6/29/21, 8/15/21, 8/16/21, and 10/16/21.

The Halloween season isn't complete without a trip to Cedar Point for Haunt at HalloWeekends, and here's a video of my recent visit. There were plenty of areas to explore, and with the park covered in several inches of snow, the experience was somewhat surreal. Kings Island OCTOBER 2020 CoasterBob62 2020-10-31 | My second and final visit to Kings Island for 2020. I finally experienced Orion -- it was exhilarating and a wonderful way to cap off an otherwise unspectacular season for me. Cedar Point OCTOBER 2020 CoasterBob62 2020-10-17 | This is what Cedar Point looks like at capacity in the COVID-19 era. I should have known better to visit on Columbus Day weekend, typically very busy, but I couldn't resist the date -- 10/10/20. I visited exactly 10 years ago on 10/10/10. The park was pretty crowded most of the day, but fortunately, most folks were wearing masks and distancing whenever possible. Nearly everything had a line, made worse by distancing measures. Cedar Point JULY 2020 CoasterBob62 2020-08-02 | The start to Cedar Point's 150th season was significantly delayed by the COVID-19 pandemic, but the park finally opened its gates to the general public in early July. Once I determined that it would be relatively safe for me to visit (masks were mandatory, crowd density would be low) I made my reservation. My goal was to document the day and stay away from other humans. Mission accomplished! I was very impressed with the safety measures put in place by the park. Most of the guests followed the rules, and I was able to keep my distance from those who didn't. All in all, it was a good day. Filmed Tuesday, July 21, 2020.
Ohio State Fair 2019: THE RIDES CoasterBob62 2020-07-19 | Since the Oho State Fair was canceled for 2020, I decided to put together a video with mostly new footage from 2019 that I never posted. Last year, I posted an opening day video, but I visited two more times and shot a lot of additional footage. Paramounts Kings Island 1999 CoasterBob62 2020-06-28 | This video contains footage from two late-season visits to Paramount's Kings Island in 1999, and yes, some of it was previously posted many years ago. New for '99 was the Paramount Action Zone, with 2 new thrill rides, Face/Off and Drop Zone. My main focus, however, was with the construction of Son of Beast, a record-breaking looping wooden roller coaster set to debut in 2000. Filmed Saturday, September 5, and Sunday, October 31, 1999.

Cedar Point JULY 1997 CoasterBob62 2020-05-25 | Come join me for a journey back to 1997 at Cedar Point! This was all shot in one day, and I posted a lot of this footage several years ago as individual videos, but here it is all together as one loooooong video. I decided to let this footage breathe a bit and not edit so much stuff out, so you can experience this as I did way back then. I've included an edited version of the Summer Spectacular, a pretty cool "nighttime laser, light & sound extravaganza" that capped off the night. You'll also notice that I took the ferry to and from the park that day, something I enjoyed quite a bit as a kid. Filmed Wednesday, July 16, 1997.
Paramounts Kings Island JUNE 1997 CoasterBob62 2020-05-17 | In 1997, Kings Island celebrated its 25th anniversary. I made at least one visit that year, and here's footage I shot on a Friday in late June with my brand new JVC GR-AXM1U camcorder. You'll notice that some of the video has black bars and/or sepia tone, fade-ins and fade-outs. That's just me experimenting with the camera's various functions. Unfortunately, I accidentally had the sepia tone filter while filming Hanna-Barbera Land -- UGH!! I posted most this footage many years ago, breaking it up into several shorter videos. Cedar Point 2003 feat. TOP THRILL DRAGSTER CoasterBob62 2020-05-08 | By the time I got to see Cedar Point's brand new strata-coaster Top Thrill Dragster in person early in 2003, it's large rear tires were gone, but the fake engine and rear wing were still intact. And as luck would have it, the new ride was having mechanical issues during that first visit, so I have limited footage. My second visit in 2003 allowed me to finally see this behemoth in action, but the fake engine and rear wing had been removed. At least it was running! Filmed in "early 2003" and "late 2003" (that's what my notes say, no specific dates are indicated, though I'm guessing the first visit was mid to late May.)

Cedar Point OPENING WEEKEND 2011 CoasterBob62 2020-04-11 | Hello, friends! I hope that all of you are doing well. I'm uploading this video on April 11, 2020 -- opening day for Kings Island. Well, at least it was supposed to be opening day. The COVID-19 pandemic changed that and many others things we enjoy. At least temporarily.In the meantime, here's a re-edit of Cedar Point's 2011 opening weekend videos combined into one loooong video. Why 2011? Well, I shot this in HD, but didn't post it in HD, until now. The weekend had a foggy start, which made for some cool footage, even better in HD. Cedar Point WINTER CHILL OUT 2020 CoasterBob62 2020-03-02 | As Cedar Point gears up for its 150th anniversary season, hundreds of fans roamed the park for the annual Winter Chill Out event, which raised $60,000 s A Kid Again, very cool (I say "cool" a lot in this video, sorry!) I was in Group 1 which had a chilly 8:00 am start, but the weather was picture-perfect. The tour was the opening act of ACE EGL's annual holiday party, this year held at Great Wolf Lodge. Ohio State Fair OPENING DAY 2019 CoasterBob62 2019-07-26 | Here's a look at most of the rides at this year's Ohio State Fair. Talley Amusements, Inc replaces Amusements of America in providing this year's rides, and the change is immediately evident, with a whole new collection for guests to enjoy. Some of the rides weren't operating, which is not surprising for opening day. One ride in particular, though, Sky Diver (aka Kissel's Military Base from subcontractor Kissel Amusement Co) was shut down permanently due to a failed ride inspection. I plan to visit the fair again soon and gather more video, especially of the rides that were closed opening day. Filmed Wednesday, July 24, 2019.

Cedar Point COASTERMANIA! CRUISE 2019 CoasterBob62 2019-06-11 | I always look forward to Cedar Point's CoasterMania! -- ERT, lunch, Q&A, and a leisurely cruise around the peninsula, this year provided by the Goodtime I. I was able to get some decent footage despite choppy waters that caused me to lose my balance from time to time (as some of you on the upper deck may have witnessed!) Filmed Friday, June 7, 2019.
Cedar Point OPENING DAY 2019 CoasterBob62 2019-05-14 | A large crowd was already enjoying the rides and nice weather when I arrived around noon, but once the clouds and rain and gusty winds took over late in the day, the crowd quickly thinned. New restaurants this year are Hugo's Italian Kitchen (replacing Midway Market) and BackBeatQue (replacing Witches' Wheel.) The Cedars dorms have been demolished and monster trucks have temporarily been seen in the area -- Monster Jam wasn't open during my visit. Dinosaurs Alive is gone as well -- that area is being transformed into Forbidden Frontier on Adventure Island, opening soon. The Corkscrew trains got a sweet retro makeover, and Tilt-a-Whirl got repainted and renamed. Mine Ride and Magnum are celebrating their 50th and 30th anniversaries respectively, and there are new entrance signs for each. Oh yeah, there's a new outhouse along Frontier Trail that I highly recommend (thanks to Tilt-a-Whirl Anne for letting me know about that!) Filmed Saturday, May 11, 2019.
