Heavy Police Presence Surrounds Bakersfield High School San The Man 2026-05-23 | Today’s video takes us outside of Bakersfield High School after my uncle from San Joaquin Valley Transparency and I noticed a heavy police presence surrounding the campus. Reports had circulated of a possible person on school grounds with a gun, leading to a major response from Bakersfield Police and Kern High School District officers.Officers could be seen moving quickly throughout the area as the school was secured and classrooms were checked to ensure the safety of students and staff. The school had been placed on lockdown, which was lifted midway through us being there. From where we were outside the campus, we couldn’t see officers moving classroom to classroom, but we could see them regrouping after splitting up into different teams. The response drew concern from parents, students, and the surrounding community as law enforcement worked the situation.While outside the school, we spoke with students who shared that the strong police response actually made them feel safer during the incident. Hearing those reactions gave some perspective into how students viewed the situation in real time.For me personally, being back outside Bakersfield High brought back memories of attending school there as part of the Class of 2014.
