Darby Mills And The Unsung Heroes - Cry To Me 1991 [Official Video]

Melodic Rock 2021-04-09 | Best thing by the Canadian rock vocalist and the past lead singer of the Headpins Darby Mills, ever done. Maybe you're approaching this like a Toronto or a Headpins record, well, this is far closer to the mannered AOR stylings of late 80s Lee Aaron or Chrissy Steele. "Cry to Me" one of the best tracks of the album "Never Look Back" issued in 1991.

Work Force - Hold On Tight 1989 [Official Video]

Melodic Rock 2021-04-05 | Work Force, an AOR band with a similar sound to Diving For Pearls, Bad English, but playing in a more upbeat and hard rockin' style. Most of the songs evident on this album are very bombastic, with the drums pounding away whilst providing cover for a three pronged guitar attack and a smattering of keyboard runs. The best track would have to be 'Hold On Tight'.

Melodic Rock 2019-07-19 | Originally released in 1986, Running Hot was the debut album from UK-based AOR band Outside Edge.
This is a really solid, really fun melodic rock album, and a great reminder of why the pop/rock sound in 1986 was so much fun. The songs are catchy and melodic, the keyboards are prominent, you can sing along with the choruses, and whole album is great AOR stuff. “Heartbeat Away,” “Don’t Leave Me Tonight” and the title track are standouts, but the whole album is quite good. If you like bands like Airrace, Shy, Virginia Wolf, then Outsided’s Edge “Running Hot” is an essential addition to your collection!

Melodic Rock 2018-12-14 | Hailing from Connecticut , Joined Forces formed in 1984 and by 1986 had made their big screen debut in the movie "Light Of Day" starring Michael J. Fox and Joan Jett. The songs that appear on this cd were all recorded between 1986 & 1989 and were produced by none other than Paul Sabu , Jeff Cannata and James Christian (House of Lords). Ironically , following the break-up of Joined Forces in 1992 , James Christian would recruit guitar wizard Jimi Bell to join House of Lords as a permanent member.
Musically , Joined Forces have an undeniable Whitesnake vibe but I can also recommend this band to fans of: Y & T , Silent Rage , Rough Cutt , Damn Yankees and all fans of quality 80s Hard Rock.

Melodic Rock 2018-12-11 | Despite of being released in ’89, the style in “Hot Games” is mid-eighties Melodic Rock / AOR with the typical German and Scandinavian sound, with lots of keyboards & synths, melodic guitars and hooky choruses. Actually, Vera Cruz sounds here quite Swedish, like early Skagarak (not so tight), early Treat, Quolio, Maeday and alikes. All tracks are catchy with good musicianship, and although production isn’t stellar, if you dig ’80s Scandi-AOR you’ll love it.

Melodic Rock 2018-11-29 | Fashion Police are yet another lost gem of the 80's Hard Rock scene. The songs are catchy, fast-paced, and sprinkled with dizzying guitar riffs akin to C.C. DeVille of Poison, particularly on “Crazy Stuff”, “Days And Nights” and the “Talk Dirty To Me” clone “Baby Loves To Rock”. They also show a softer side with the ‘Boy Loves Girl’ tunes “Alone/Together”, “Days And Nights” and “Feels So Good”. This one really deserves a listen if not owning a copy of the album A.S.A.P!

Melodic Rock 2018-11-28 | One of the better UK melodic rock album of the late 80's came from After Hours. Moving in the same vintage direction as fellow countrymen Baby Tuckoo, Tobruk, FM and late 80's Whitesnake guaranteed success on a musical level, but not sales wise. Crucially the band managed to change their sound which helped set them apart from other UK acts that usually failed to grasp simple AOR guidelines. This is an album and band which deserves more recognition than it has. For every melodic rock fan this is a crucial stop if you weren't aware previously of its existence.

Their debut contained A.O.R./Melodic Rock that had similarities to bands like NIGHT RANGER,HONEYMOON SUITE and some influences of early BON JOVI at times.
This their 2nd release and songs like Too Late for Love, Hideaway, She Comes To Me, Somebody Like You and She is On Fire are excellent aor/melodic tunes. Killer album!!

II 'How I See the World' was great too. I loved the second singer on 'She Don't Know' - dripping with 80's attitude. Would have loved to have seen them live. The guitar leads are blazing, lots of energy throughout! Check this rarity out definitely!

Melodic Rock 2018-11-10 | This is a damn good Melodic Hard Rock album featuring Robert Mason (Magnum, Lynch Mob, Cry of Love, RATT) that very few people ever got to know and is a disc that could be easilt considered a gem from the late 80’s and early 90’s. Although released in 1997 and tending to be disguised as a brand new release, Silents Witness debut album had been originally recorded in 1988. This is one cd you must add to your collection.

Shadow King - Shadow King 1991 [Full Album]

Melodic Rock 2018-11-07 | Shadow King is a supergroup featuring ex-Foreigner vocalist Lou Gramm and ex-Dio (and current Def Leppard) guitarist Vivian Campbell alongside bassist and longtime Gramm collaborator Bruce Turgon and drummer Kevin Valentine.
They sounded somewhere between Bad English and Foreigner with a heavier approach at moments thanks to the guitar sound of Vivian Campbell. This is one of the few albums that I love every song on it.
