Hodges (2015) saying that the fundamental right to marry is guaranteed to same-sex couples, many saw it as a sign that LGBTQ+ folks had finally achieved equality. Six years later and with a rise in anti-trans violence and rhetoric we can see clearly what many in the queer community knew back then, there is still a lot of work left to do. While we’ve largely achieved basic acceptance in the political world, there is a lot of progress needed both at the federal and state levels of government.
