Pete Ruppert UNIVERSE 2024-02-19 | #exmo #zetros #iceland Die Silfra-Spalte ist eine spaltenförmige, kilometerlange Verwerfung im isländischen Þingvellir-Nationalpark, die in den Þingvallavatn mündet. Entstanden ist die Spalte durch das Auseinanderdriften der Nordamerikanischen und der Eurasischen Platte. Sie wird jährlich um rund 7 mm breiter.Team Yoga Hotel verlässt Geysir, aber nicht ohne eine Eruption erlebt zu haben - dann geht es direkt zur Silfra-Spalte, einer kilometerlangen Verwerfung im isländischen Þingvellir-Nationalpark. Sie liegt auf der Nahtstelle zwischen den Kontinentalplatten von Amerika und Europa. Die Schlucht ist gefüllt mit 2 Grad kaltem Gletscherwasser, genau darin wollen die Kameraden tauchen! Für normale Touristen wird dies angeboten in geführten Touren zu sowohl maximal überhöhten Preisen sowie dicken Trocken-Neopren Taucheranzügen. Aber das wäre zu einfach für Yogi-Tom und den Leutnant; Die beiden gehen da so rein!Tatsächlich tauchen die Boys ab in die Spalte und ja, es ist kalt. Sehr kalt. Aber dafür unglaublich klar. Das Wasser und wird gespeist durch das Schmelzwasser des Langjökull Gletschers und benötigt fast 100 Jahre, um die 50 km lange Strecke vom Gletscher zur Schlucht durch poröses Lavagestein zu durchfliessen. Dadurch wird es gefiltert und ist deshalb so unglaublich klar! Tom kehrt bald zurück, der Leutnant aber bleibt ein paar Minuten länger und bekommt Hypothermie. Aber er schafft es noch zurück zum Ufer, alles andere wäre auch unerquicklich!Der Leutnant erholte sich zügig und fuhr den Truck auf ein Camping am Meer, dort wird der Zetros mit Steinplatten gelevelt, damit das Dinner nicht vom Tische rutscht!Tom hat dieses Chuck Norris Ding.. Somit ist das heutige Gletscherwasser-Ereignis nicht ausreichend für ihn, nein, er muss noch einen nächtlichenTauchgang nehmen im Nordatlantik! Und was am Horizont aussieht wie ein geplatztes Kernkraftwerk mit Atompilz ist lediglich noch ein erhaltener Rest einstiger Kohlekraftwerke, Atomkraft gibts ja keine mehr in der Bundesrepublik Deutschland!Hiermit neigt sich die Januar-Campagne und somit die zweite Staffel Ostzone der Gebrüder dem Ende entgegen. Nicht jedoch ohne dramatischem Schlussakkord: Über Nacht drehte der Wind und eine massive Kaltfront von Osten her überlagerte das Seeufer und bedeckte den Truck mit minus 11 grad Celsius. Ein Kaltstart in jeder Hinsicht, es wurde ausserordentlich ungemütlich hier - wird Zeit die Ostzone zu verlassen, "zurück zum Base Camp nach Mittelerde" sagt Captain Mad, "heute ist nicht alle Tage, wir kommen wieder - keine Frage!"

Mercedes ZETROS Exmo - from Crater Lakes to Waterfalls, EXPEDITION ICELAND (68) Pete Ruppert UNIVERSE 2024-02-12 | #zetros #iceland #exmo Nachdem des Leutnant’s Fussverletzung soweit abgeheilt war, dass er die Kupplung wieder einigermassen treten konnte, setzt sich Team Yoga Hotel in Bewegung und hangelt sich von Kraterseen über Kaskaden von Wasserfällen bis zurück in die Zivilisation, genaugenommen bis nach Geysir, dem bekannten und maximal überlaufenen Touristen-Spot am sogenannten ‘Golden Circle’.Und tatsächlich checken sie dort ein am Campingplatz, also extrem vorbildlich, so wie es verlangt wird auf Island!Davor muss der Reifendruck wieder angepasst werden zum Befahren von asphaltierten Strassen mit hoher Geschwindigkeit. Ein mühsames Unterfangen in Ermangelung einer automatischen Reifendruckregelanlage! Noch vor dem dinner muss der Leutnant seine Trainingseinheiten absolvieren mit dem Yogalehrer, Vorbild hierbei gilt Chuck Norris, der bekannterweise alle Liegestützen machen kann. Da sei zu toppen, meint Tom: “Mach alle plus eine,” sagt er zum Leutnant!

Nürburgring Test Flight - Tarragon Aircraft - The Skymonkeyyys Pete Ruppert UNIVERSE 2024-02-08 | #aviation #tarragon #nürburgring Robin, der junge Scout Ranger, ist nicht nur berühmt durch die Abenteuer im Mercedes Zetros Expeditionsmobil auf Iceland, sondern er macht sich auch in der Aviation einen Namen!Hier im Video wird er einen Testflug durchführen, in einer Pelegrin Tarragon Aircraft - und das bei strammen Winde wie man sieht, böig ausserdem - ein holpriges Unterfangen!Der Flug führt von Mittelerde Richtung Rhein bei bestem Sonnenlicht, und dann weiter über die Eifel zur Nürburg - und somit zum Nürburgring mit der weltbekannten Nordschleife! Von Westen her kommt eine Wolkenfront rein, aufgrund der winterlichen Jahreszeit liegt wegen der kühlen Luft das Kondensationsniveau recht tief, das bezeichnet in der Meteorologie die Höhe, in der die Lufttemperatur dem Taupunkt gleicht. Somit ist die Luft vollständig mit Wasserdampf gesättigt. Gleichbedeutend hierzu ist eine relative Luftfeuchtigkeit von 100 Prozent. Die Höhe des Kondensationsniveaus hängt neben dem vertikalen Temperaturverlauf entscheidend von dem Feuchtigkeitsgehalt des aufsteigenden Luftpaketes ab. In der Meteorologie unterscheidet man üblicherweise zwischen zwei Kondensationsniveaus, dem Hebungskondensationsniveau und dem Konvektionskondensationsniveau.In der Erdatmosphäre stellt ein Kondensationsniveau die Höhe dar, in der Wolken entstehen, da der Wasserdampf bei weiter zunehmender Höhe und damit abnehmender Temperatur anfängt zu kondensieren. Und um die Nordschleife observieren zu können, muss Robin die Maschine unter entsprechende Wolkenbasis steuern, aber dennoch hoch genug über den Erhebungen des Eifelgebirges bleiben: Safety first gilt für ihn in jeder Flug-Situation!Offensichtlich findet kein Rennbetrieb statt, deutlich wird man erkennen aus der Luft, dass die Fahrbahn an vielen Stellen ausgebessert wird momentan, der Race Track ist ausser Betrieb!Schade eigentlich denkt Robin, sonst hätte man mal ein Air-to-Ground Race veranstalten können - wobei sich die Rennmaschinen schwer getan hätten, denn Robin fliegt mit einer Ground Speed von über 370 Kilometern pro Stunde!

Im Anschluss erkunden Captain Mad und der Leutnant das Luftfahrtmuseum vom Wernigerode! Ein besonderer Leckerbissen für die beiden Piloten - Friedemann hatte sich bereits aus dem Staub gemacht, Aviation ist nichts für ihn.. Für den Abend ist ein Treffen geplant am Flugplatz Ballenstedt, und zwar mit Volker und Renate, sehr gut bekannt von den ‘Skymonkeyyys’! Die Brüder werden auf der Fahrt den kompletten Harz auf Nebenstrassen in Längsrichtung durchqueren, ein abenteuerliches Unterfangen mit solch einem Gefährt. Dabei geht es durch malerische Städtchen wie ‘Stolberg’ beispielsweise, auch die längste Hängeseilbrücke der Welt, die ‘Titan R-T’ entlang der Rappbodetalsperre wird erkundet! Overnight rain had made the climbing paths slippery, but that won't deter them; quite the opposite, in fact!They forge ahead boldly, rewarded by sensational landscapes. The lushest green navigates through bizarre rock formations as Kathie and the Lieutenant perform the Yoga Warrior pose. Emerging from it strengthened and a little bit daring, the Lieutenant scales a rock formation. A stony ledge breaks loose, and the Lieutenant plummets into the deep - close call! Es stellte sich ausserdem heraus, dass die Batterieversorgung für die Kabine noch immer zu schwach ist, um die Nacht durchzustehen. Für laufende Standheizung und zusätzliche Nebenverbraucher, beispielsweise zum Aufladen sämtlicher Devices und Beleuchtung. Daher werden weitere Batterien requiriert und verbaut. Die Kulturkreise von Captain Mad und dem Leutnant hat das Kyffhäuserdenkmal zum nächsten Ziel. Es wird auch Barbarossadenkmal genannt. Das 81 Meter hohe Denkmal wurde 1892 bis 1896 zu Ehren von Kaiser Wilhelm I. errichtet und ist das drittgrösste Denkmal Deutschlands.Nahe dem Kyffhäuserdenkmal befindet sich ein Denkmal für den deutschen Reichspräsidenten Paul von Hindenburg. Ferner befindet sich am Denkmal der ‘Burghof Kyffhäuser’ als Gaststätte. Und den Brunnen gibts auch noch, es ist der tiefste Burgbrunnen der Welt, 176 Meter senkrecht nach unten in den Fels getrieben. Und das vor 1.000 Jahren! @madundderleutnant

Hauptattraktion ist das Bild des Malers und Kunstprofessors Werner Tübke: Das Bauernkriegspanorama als monumentales Panoramabild über den Bauernkrieg mit dem Titel Frühbürgerliche Revolution in Deutschland. Das Werk entstand in den Jahren 1976 bis 1987 zum Gedenken an den Deutschen Bauernkrieg und den Bauernführer Thomas Müntzer. Mit einer Fläche von 1722 m² ist es das grösste Panorama-Gemälde der Welt! Die Leinwand ist 123 m lang und 14 m hoch, wog unbemalt 1,1 Tonnen und wurde in einem Stück gewebt im Textilkombinat Sursk in der Sowjetunion. Über 3000 einzelne Figuren bis zu 3 Meter Grösse sind abgebildet!Der MAN HX-60 rollt mittlerweile - wie der Zetros - auch auf Michelin-Reifen der Dimension 16.00 R20, und passt nicht durch die engen Gassen Bad Frankenhausens. Daher bleibt er geparkt und trotz Dauerregen observieren die Fellows die Altstadt, vor allem der schiefe Turm erscheint von Interesse. Immerhin schiefer als der Turm von Pisa, das will schon was heissen. Danach zünftiges Dinner, Food-Porn steht auf dem Besteckt, das ist ebenfalls verheissungvoll! @madundderleutnant

Bestes Licht zum Tagesanbruch, und schon wandern der Leutnant mit Kathie und Tom vom Black Beach auf den Hausberg ein paar hundert Höhenmeter, und auf der Westseite runter zum Reynisfjara Beach, wobei das Haupt Augenmerk auf der Observation der Puffins (Papageientaucher) liegt!Bemerkenswert wird die Reynisfjall Monolithen-Gruppe angesehen, die aus dem Atlantik ragt, danach Kaffee-Kultur in der Touri-Mall; dann geht es ins Gelände. 'Yoga at scenic-points' heisst das Motto, selbst der Leutnant macht mit, wobei für ihn nur die ‘Warrior-Figur’ infrage kommt, sonnenklar!@madundderleutnant

Pete Ruppert UNIVERSE 2024-01-15 | #exmo #vanlife #grandtour MAN HX FamilyIm gesamten Universum gibt es nur einen Ort, an dem Rotbuchenwälder zu finden sind, und zwar in Europa! Und genau da übernachteten die Brüder, Captain Mad und der Leutnant. Genaugenommen im Hainich Nationalpark: Der Hainich ist ein ausgedehnter, bewaldeter Höhenrücken im Nordwesten Thüringens. Mit dem Nationalpark Hainich befindet sich im Süden des Höhenrückens nicht nur der bislang einzige Nationalpark Thüringens, sondern die grösste nutzungsfreie Waldfläche Deutschlands. Zentrale Bereiche des Nationalparks Hainich wurden von der UNESCO 2011 zum Weltnaturerbe erklärt.Nach dem Gourmet-Catering in einer lokalen Tankstelle montiert der Leutnant im Maschinenraum die Batterien um, welche er im Baumarkt um die Ecke erstanden hatte. Normale Autobatterien in Reihe geschaltet sollten den Job machen denkt der Leutnant! 140 Amperestunden immerhin! @madundderleutnant

The next destination is Hainich National Park with the Tree-Crown Path in the largest contiguous deciduous forest area in Germany. The brothers will arrive there at sunset, although there is no sunset, at most a shift from gray to darkness. It will get cold and damp, just as one imagines it in the Eastern Zone. It's a bit like the Middle Ages here, says the Lieutenant!Nach wie vor ist die Sache mit der Stromversorgung für die Kabine unklar. Die Batteriespannung geht unter Last ‘in den Keller’, aber wo liegt der Fehler? Momentan ist die Kabine nicht zu heizen, und so kriecht die Kälte in die Knochen, eine unbehagliche Situation. Entsprechend schaut sich der Leutnant das zweite Batterie-Rack an im Maschinenraum des FM2 Shelters..@madundderleutnant
