We have successfully completed another round of installation of a full-scale energy collector on the @Wavepiston string off the coast of Gran Canaria. 🌊

We believe that wave energy will play a crucial role in replacing fossil fuels and ensuring clean drinking water. Wave energy gives an opportunity for a stable and predictable source, that can complement (offshore) wind and solar energy. We have tested and demonstrated our technology extensively and are now preparing for our first commercial pilot wave farms at various sites around the world.

Our team has created the first version of a numerical model that simulates the movement and pressure variations in the hydraulic rams. We have also designed a physical platform for testing hydraulic rams at realistic speeds and pressures.
The platform will feed performance data into the hybrid model, including pressure, leak volume and friction. It significantly shortens time-to- market while also applying more rigorous demands on performance and reliability, ultimately creating a better product in less time and for less money.
This project has received funding from the European Union’s Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme under grant agreement No 101006927.
Next step is to connect these to WEC's (Wave Energy Collectors) at the PLOCAN test site at Gran Canaria, Spain. Wavepiston wishes to thank its key suppliers, Flowserve, Armatec, Siemens and FH Automation.

This is the last test round in the North Sea, installed November 2018
This is the first installation in 2015.
