Ganondorf Battle - Fair Winds & Following Seas feat. ATLYS - Wind Waker Symphonic Metal [OFFICIAL] ZREO: Second Quest 2023-06-27 | Fair Winds & Following Seas feat. ATLYS is now available at our shop:shop.zreosq.com/collections/fair-winds-following-seasOur arrangement of “Ganondorf Battle” is unique to the album. We chose to set it apart from the other tracks by creating an epic battle-of-the-bands-style clash with the string quartet, using electric instruments in addition to acoustics. The resulting composition perfectly captures the epic battle against Ganondorf with its unique blend of acoustic and electric instruments, haunting choirs, and intense drum beats.We took elements from the cutscene just before the battle and the battle itself, once again giving character to the instruments. Throughout the arrangement, ATLYS’ performances depict the battle between Ganondorf and Link. As an electric quartet — complete with five-string instruments, amplifiers and distortion pedals, and electric bass — they portray Ganondorf’s role in the fight, while their acoustic performances relay Link’s struggle. It’s ATLYS versus ATLYS, Ganondorf versus Link in this musical battle, while the rest of the orchestra provides a musical stage full of suspense and tension. The main theme is trumpeted by a full brass section and backed by a male choir chanting in an ancient tongue, joined quickly by a women’s choir. Brass chromatic clusters, along with Ken Candelas’ performance on the full drum kit brings fierce pacing and drama to the fight, adding to the intensity and power of the piece. The drum kit is joined by traditional Japanese taiko drums to match the visual aesthetic of Ganondorf’s traditional garb and weapons, adding another layer of suspense to the conflict.As the battle continues the piece breaks off into a quiet passage focusing on the woodwinds and strings as tension builds. The taiko ensemble click-clacks like a ticking timer reminding our heroes that time is of the essence. The orchestra crescendos with the hero’s theme as an electric violin solo shreds over top. The remaining quartet members chug on their instruments’ lowest 5th strings while a vile electric bassline counters shrieking brass stabs. The ending of the piece is inspired by Paul Dukas’ Sorcerer’s Apprentice and Igor Stravinsky’s Firebird, where the orchestra’s themes cascade, rise, and fall together. Princess Zeldas Theme - Fair Winds & Following Seas feat. ATLYS [OFFICIAL Music Video] ZREO: Second Quest 2023-05-31 | Performed live at Northview Church in West Lafayette, IN, “Princess Zelda’s Theme” is a masterful arrangement that showcases the true brilliance of the series’ most iconic and timeless melody. In preparation for the arrangement our guest composer, Andrew Vogt, took the time to study different permutations of the theme, and found the melody remained remarkably consistent throughout the various eras of Zelda chronology. Drawing inspiration from the moment when Tetra and Link learn the truth of Hyrule and their intertwined destinies, Andrew and Ari worked together to craft an emotional retelling of the scene through music.In this arrangement, Andrew utilizes ATLYS to create rich harmonies and jazz-like chordal voicings to create depth and an aquatic ambiance to the soundscape, while Ari’s use of melancholic swells brings classic Hollywood drama to the stage. The arrangement itself focuses on maintaining the melody and harmony unfazed while allowing the story of the scene to dictate the tempo changes and key transitions. The pizzicato strings, notating Tetra’s transformation, echo the ambiance of the secret chamber and serve as a callback to the harp lines found in the original game versions. The tradeoff of the pizzicato between instruments allows each voice a turn with the melody until they all unite to form the dramatic musical climax. The new sections towards the end of the track allow the quartet to unify musically and display the weight of the situation. As the reality settles in for Tetra and Link that things will never be the same again, the quartet musically foreshadows the upcoming choice of King Daphnes Nohansen Hyrule and the ultimate fate of his hidden kingdom at the bottom of the ocean.The above is an excerpt from our Deluxe album liner notes.Fair Winds & Following Seas feat. Revalis Theme (Celtic Version) - Breath of the Wild - Hyrule Highlands II - Music from Tim de Man ZREO: Second Quest 2022-09-29 | The quietest and stripped-down Celtic arrangement I’ve done up to this point, Revali’s Theme is the only Breath of the Wild track on the album - which is a little weird considering how much I love the game and its music. The original Hyrule Highlands is more BotW-focused.Brushes, fretless bass, guitars, whistle, and accordion are all that’s happening on this one. I wanted to close out the album with a romantic waltz to send people home with that rosy feeling. Melody is passed around between guitar, low and high whistle, and accordion, with short bursts of intensity in between a bath of mellowness.From the mind of the one-Man-Celtic-band, Tim de Man, ZREO: Second Quest is pleased to present Hyrule Highlands II - A Zelda tribute album styled in Folk and Celtic arrangements. It's a sequel to his Hyrule Highlands (2020) album and sports the same Celtic and Folk flare with studio-level care. The team found Arizona-based artist Houston Hanna, and commissioned original artwork. Hyrule Field - Twilight Princess - Hyrule Highlands II - Music from Tim de Man ZREO: Second Quest 2022-09-09 | The second overworld theme on the album, Twilight Princess is a tad more dramatic and driving than Ocarina’s. It’s not without its own whimsy though, something that I always love to accentuate.The game Twilight Princess is quite the melting pot aesthetically - something that I can’t touch in a single arrangement. I decided to play up the Spaghetti Western vibes the game has going on at times, with a choir going “aahh”, galloping guitars and mandolin, and the use of castanets. I finally gave Drummer Tim the permission to go completely ham in the final “chorus”.One little secret: I’m an awful guitar player. The little solos in this arrangement took me ages to record and still had to be stitched together using multiple takes. Of all the Tims on this album, Drummer Tim and Accordionist Tim need the least takes, while Low Whistle Tim and Guitar Tim hog way too much studio time.Also, Drummer Tim is definitely having the most fun!Originally founded in 2004, ZREO: Second Quest is the next generation of the Zelda Reorchestrated project. Hilda x Zelda Celtic Version - Hyrule Highlands II - Music from Tim de Man ZREO: Second Quest 2022-09-08 | Prior to Breath of the Wild’s release, I decided to brush up on the Zelda games I’d missed out on during my short stint as a non-game playing person (moving across the country, becoming a father, acting out the final death throes of pretending to be a responsible adult). Seeing A Link Between Worlds footage blew me away. It looked so snappy! So I bought a 2DS just to play it. It was a very inspiring experience, with one of the most elegant and gripping stories in a Zelda game and a great Koji Kondo-inspired score by Ryo Nagamatsu.Hilda’s Theme pays homage to Zelda’s Lullaby in the same way that A Link Between Worlds does to A Link To The Past. Zelda is innocent and hopeful, but Hilda is somber and wistful. Bringing the two together musically seemed like a logical step, and recording this Celtic version was a breeze - it’s the kind of arrangement that wrote itself. Romance in the Air Celtic Version - Hyrule Highlands II - Music from Tim de Man ZREO: Second Quest 2022-09-07 | A lovely piece from Skyward Sword that only plays at a single point near the start of the game, Romance In The Air has such clear Celtic inspirations that I couldn’t pass on it!After the super catchy first part, the arrangement passes a victoriously bright melody around between guitar, accordion, and whistle, increasing the tension before returning to the main melody. A choir of Tims accompanies the proceedings to make the piece feel extra personal.Romance in the Air was arranged and recorded for the original Hyrule Highlands, but didn’t make it through the cover licensing process. It plays at many crucial points in the game and has both big, bombastic versions and more lyrical, quiet ones.For my Celtic arrangement, I wanted to emphasize the emotive character of the piece, in both its biggest and most intimate moments. After a large-scale initial statement, supported by some lovely orchestrations courtesy of ZREO: Second Quest’s Ari and Sam, a half-time breakdown in the middle brings the track back to earth before taking off once again for a soaring climax.From the mind of the one-Man-Celtic-band, Tim de Man, ZREO: Second Quest is pleased to present Hyrule Highlands II - A Zelda tribute album styled in Folk and Celtic arrangements.
