♫ JOURNEY OF THE PRAIRIE KING ♫ on Gotharmans zaTurn Modular Synth [Stardew Valley VGM Cover] #TTNM THE TUESDAY NIGHT MACHINES 2023-01-08 | This is a video game music cover of Stardew Valley's "Journey of the Prairie King" overworld theme, created entirely on Gotharman's zaTurn modular synthesizer. I must admit I haven't played the mini game at all, but I stumbled upon this tune and it's so damn catchy! :D :D :DTo get it into the zaTurn, I looked up Stoh Shiba's piano sheet music of the piece as a starting point and programmed that into the sequencer, taking a few creative liberties. Because the zaTurn only supports up to 64 steps per track, I had to split the song up into 14 presets. Luckily, copy and paste works so well on the Gotharman instruments and there are multiple ways to enter notes into the devices. After I completed writing the sequencer presets, using only a simple zaTurn voice patch, I started the actual sound design process and the arrangement of the various pieces in the Gotharman song mode.I only used samples for the quirky vocals at the end of the song. The rest is all patched internally on the zaTurn. The Pittsburgh Micro Sequence B module sequences the Erica Bassline Acid voice, as well as two Urano stereo voices. Urano provides another synth voice and internally sequenced drum samples, master clock, Delay and Bit Crush FX. The Happy Nerding FX AID XL adds some black hole reverb on top. Experimental Modular Synth Jam with Gotharmans Urano // A Modern Krell? #TTNM THE TUESDAY NIGHT MACHINES 2021-11-07 | This is an evolving, semi-autonomous sound design patch created with Gotharman's Urano Modular Synth and Happy Nerding's FX AID XL Eurorack module (Lo-Junky effect). It's loosely inspired by Krell patches. I'm using techniques from my Sample & Hold and Clock Modulation Tutorials (see playlist link below) to generate a mix of random and non-random modulation values, which affect each other and the modulation targets. The Edit Knobs adjust oscillator waveforms, filter resonance, LFO speeds and more. It's so complexly patched that any user input can also be categorised as a "semi-random" modulation source. Gotharmans Urano gets expanded with Eurorack #TTNM THE TUESDAY NIGHT MACHINES 2021-11-06 | Received a nice new Eurorack case in the mail this week to accompany my Gotharman Urano and I am now starting my journey back into this modular synth format ... well ... uhm ... no, not really :D I'll keep it at 48hp ... that's my plan. Got some more cool modules coming up soon to fill this little black box with! Stay tuned.The hi-hats are coming from the Happy Nerding FX Aid XL by the way, triggered and modulated by the Urano's CV outputs of course. The bass line oscillator is sent through the Tubaz filter module. Evyerthing is mixed and controlled then inside the Urano. Gotharmans Urano: STARGAZER-inspired Modular Synth Patch Demo #TTNM THE TUESDAY NIGHT MACHINES 2021-10-27 | Møffenzeef's open-source STARGAZER wavetable drone synth has intrigued me for a long time. So I tried to create a patch on my Gotharman Urano modular synthesizer inspired by it. Of course, if you want the real deal, you need to buy or build an actual Stargazer, but I was interested to see where I would end up with that challenge on Gotharman's Urano.I patched two wavetable oscillators into a lowpass filter module, from there onwards to the Gotharman bit crusher effect, into another lowpass filter and at the end of the chain into a virtual distortion module. Since I only had nine knobs at my disposal on the Urano, I chose to toggle LFO modulation on and off via switches at the bottom, with LFO rates also being controlled by the parameter knobs. So dual knob assignments, like on the Benjolin. It's fun. The wavetables I used are from the user repository at https://waveeditonline.com. Obviously, if one wants a true Benjolin, one needs to buy one of those, but I found it fascinating to think myself through the inner workings of this device for a bit and try to apply them to the Urano's patching system. Gotharmans Urano + Waldorf Eurorack Modular Synth Jam // The Tip Of The Iceberg #TTNM THE TUESDAY NIGHT MACHINES 2021-10-14 | Here's a first simple tryout jam with the new Gotharman Urano modular synth, sequencing and modulating the Waldorf nw1 and vcf1 Euroack modules for some additional wavetable and analog filter fun. Percussion is sample based and the pings are S&H random generators sent into all four of the Urano's analog filters. Sample based Boom Bap Beat on Gotharmans Tiny LD // #TTNM THE TUESDAY NIGHT MACHINES 2021-10-03 | I've been watching a lot of Accurate Beats' YouTube videos lately and listened to tons of Brock Berrigan on top of that, so I got in the mood to try out some sample-based beat making on Gotharman's Tiny LD. This was a fun test run! I'm usually more into the experimental side of the Little Deformer 3's smaller sister here, but it worked really nicely as a strange Akai MPC substitute as well.The main sample was recorded and edited on my iPad in iMPC Pro 2 (not really a big fan of this app to be honest, but it got the job done). I then transferred the WAV file with some additional royalty free 808 drum samples to the Tiny LD with a USB stick. Since the main sample was already looping nicely, I could chop it up automatically on the Tiny LD. Then I used Chop-Keyboard mode to spread the chops over the keyboard keys and keep them all inside a single "part". Drums were the already mentioned 808 samples and the Bass and Synths are internal sound engines. Finally a Gotharman synth jam with the PolySpaze front and center! Well ... a little to the left at least. But all synth sounds are coming from that polyphonic digital-analog hybrid synthesizer. The drums are from the SpazeDrum and one tiny percussion sound comes from the Tiny LD too, which also does the PolySpaze MIDI sequencing. Berlin School Electronica // Gotharman meets 5U Marienberg & Oakley Modular Synth THE TUESDAY NIGHT MACHINES 2021-07-16 | Gotharman's Little Deformer 3, Gotharman's PolySpaze and my Marienberg + Oakley 5U Modular Synthesizer are having little Berlin School kind of synth jam session.First, I patched up a typical analog synth sound with my 5U Marienberg/Oakley Modular Synth, which let me transpose the VCO and add fast FM with two switches.I then programmed a 4 note sequence on Gotharman's Little Deformer 3 and sent it to the Modular via the CV.OCD MIDI to CV converter, which is easier for musical CV sequencing than the Deformer's own CV outputs.The Linnstrument MIDI controller triggers the red Gotharman PolySpaze polysynth, which plays a morphable pad sound. Very simple, no MPE, etc. All audio goes into the Little Deformer 3, where it is mixed with the LD3's own sounds and processed with delay and granular audio FX.On the LD3 there are three percussive parts playing and another 5 step sequence, which I fade in around the middle or so. All sounds can be muted, volume-controlled and even modulated with the mappable fron panel knobs. Of course, I also created a second morph layer, with a slightly different melody and changed FX settings, that produce more glitchiness and also tighter delay FX.It was fun :) Let me know if you have questions in the comments below! Berlin School on the Balcony // Gotharmans TinyLD Granular Synth #TTNM THE TUESDAY NIGHT MACHINES 2021-05-30 | Playing some Berlin School electronic space music with my Gotharman TinyLD mkII on the sunny balcony. The TinyLD is Gotharman's Little deFormer 3 granular synthesizer workstation in a smaller, more portable form factor. It has fewer knobs and buttons, but the same screen, processor and general feature set as its bigger sister. I've modded my TinyLD with a light dependent resistor (LDR) for gestural control, as well as with three knobs and two switches.More info on the modification here:youtube.com/watch?v=CtA_o85M_mgFor this jam session I created an analog-style bass line, using the awesome sounding new State Variable Filter algorithms from the recent LD3/TinyLD software update. Then I added an electronic string-like pad sound and some bleeps, bloops and noise hits. The LDR controls the filter cutoff on the pad sound, letting me spontaneously add some variation by waving my hand over the top right corner of the TinyLD. Of course I also programmed both morph layers with slightly different note sequences and effects settings.
