Ben BrockertAt the Baikonur Cosmodrome in Kazakhstan a Proton-M rocket with DM-03 upper stage, carrying three Russian Glonass-M navigation satellites went out of control, exploded and crashed at 8:38 AM local time, July 2 2013.
The rocket propellant used is the hypergolic oxidizer dinitrogen tetroxide with the toxic and carcinogenic fuel unsymmetrical dimethylhydrazine, which leads to the brown smoke, massive fireball, and inevitable environmental contamination during the crash.

But I thought it was funny how setting the gopro down immediately caught the interest of the wrasses. They seem like one of the more intelligent fish, less afraid of humans and happy to investigate any disturbances a person makes to see if there are any things to eat. The sea urchin is the largest one I've ever seen, perhaps nine inches (20cm) across. I saw a couple smaller ones a different day and was looking for them, but found this huge one instead.
According to forums Cyprus used to have a lot of sea urchins but that is not the case now. I've been surprised how little life there is in tidal pools as well. Sheer limestone karst hills are surrounded by rice paddies. This boat tour departs from the wharf in Tam Coc. Once into the channel between the rice paddies, the boat people row the boats using their legs. The tour goes through caves in three of the hills before turning around and going back. Ever opportunistic, at the turn around point the tourist is coerced into buying snacks for themselves or their rower, before being shaken down for further tips just before arriving back at the wharf.

The purge is on, then the igniter fires. The engine is burning, the igniter goes out, and then a stream of mixed lox/methane comes out of the engine. The stream is lit by the remaining fire outside the engine, and re-lights the engine. It briefly reached 6000lbf, on a roughly 2000lbf engine. It then shuts down quickly.

I built much of Xombie when I worked at Masten Space Systems. It is now, as far as I know, the longest lived VTVL rocket testbed in the world. I built the avionics, welded together the frame, did much of the plumbing, and ran its early test flight program.
