It can seem like 2-3 frames is cut out of your life movie. Sense of self is gone. It's like a cosmic orgasm. The French call the sexual orgasm the little death. Cessation is like that, A little death. It's like a reset of the brain. The first one you have might really transform the way you perceive reality. After my first one in 2016 I was awe for days after, and I was never the same. It was like a chunk of me had disappeared, like a significant part of my mind disappeared for good. It was very freeing.
A cessation, according to Theravadan Buddhism happens after one has gone through all the previous stages of the arising passing away (the initial spiritual awakening experience), the dark night (the uncomfortable dissolution of the mind as you knew it) and equanimity (coming to peace with the new mode and clarity to see things more as they are) before cessation happens. The first time someone has a cessation, one is considered a "stream entrer", the first out of four stages of enlightenment in Theravadan Buddhism.
Towards enlightenment one will most likely cycle through all these stages of insights many times and thus have many cessations, until the self-identification falls away at stage 4, which is called enlightenment by many modern practitioners today, although many also have more criteria than that. Disclaimer: I'm not currently at that stage, so I'm only retelling what I've been taught by other teachers.
▶ Personal guidance/coaching: http://www.freddyfairhair.com/want-me-to-be-your-personal-liberation-guideMy Path To Spiritual Awakening: An Overconfident Work In ProgressFredosophy2021-12-02 | In this video I share some highlights from my spiritual seeking journey. I've spent 6-7 years on this project so far. It hasn’t given me a diploma. It didn't get me on the news. But it has reduced a lot of suffering and brought a lot more inner peace.
Maybe this story makes it sound like I don’t have bad days, which I do. My mood still swings like the weather. However, it’s like the weight of those lows are much lighter than it used to be. Right now as I’m writing I’m not smiling and I’m actually frowning out of seriousness. There's also some anxiety. But in the background there’s this peaceful ( ), almost like a little relief in the background, a small sun, which wasn’t shining here before. ☀️
Lastly, if it sounds like I'm enlightened, then I’m being a bit misleading. I still identify with parts of the mind, as far as I can tell. This is still a sassy, overconfident work in progress. 🤷🏻 😄
If you're from the pragmatic dharma community, I refer to that main shift I talk about as stream entry. I'm confident I've been 2nd path for at least two years. Frank Yang supposed I was between 2nd and 3rd path October 2020, although that was just based from chatting in DM. I consider the chance of being third path now to be greate as non-dual invitation/cultivation seems to be most of the game now, perception wants to turn observation to just things occurring as themselves, and cycling in a few days or even daily is not uncommon at this point. But I don't really experience divine, exhilarated states all that much, other than during the cessations and quicker moments of Arising passing away.

I learned that later when I happened to see through this Isness, into a More centerless, personless way of being. The view I had when I filmed this video still has a ground which I didn’t see. This Isness I talked about here seemed unbreakable. But once I got a glimpse beyond the wall, I now know it’s a wall, and that it can be broken wide open. The descriptions I mentioned are still good pointers, and does feel true, until one realizes there’s a deeper view beyond which is laughing at the previous view ;D

What I mean by that is that the love that you FEEL is not ultimately you. Real love and the real You is beyond feeling. However, feelings of love might be a good sign that you’re coming closer to your true nature. It’s like feeling the heat of your “True Self”. It’s like being bewildered in the winter woods, but then smelling the smoke of a cabin nearby with heat and food.

Stalk me (without touching yourself): Instagram: http://instagram.com/freddyfairhair Facebook: http://facebook.com/freddyfairhair Twitter: http://twitter.com/freddyfairhairStages and Cycles of Awakening | Day 81 Monk StyleFredosophy2020-12-22 | Recorded November 11th. More about the stages: These are the phases of awakening as they are described in Theravadan Buddhism. For most people the first awakening cycle is the most challenging one. It usually takes a couple years to multiple years to get through the first. A Vipassana center in Burma reports 50 percent stream entrers on a 100-day retreat. After the first cycle, the structure in one's perception is changed. For some the change is dramatic, for others it's gradual. I happened to experience a dramatical change. The shift happened in a snap of a finger. It was like a part of me disappeared. My thoughts had always been in the foreground. Now silence of awareness was in the foreground, and thoughts took the seat in the back. It felt like 90 percent of my mind disappeared. It was like I had reached the most peaceful meditation state I had ever been in- and not only that, but it was permanent. A new state of being which never returned to what it was. Thoughts did come back. Negative feelings too. But now there was a new space around it that wasn't there before.
After the first awakening cycle it gets much easier to cycle through them as one is moving towards a permanent awakening out of all ego consciousness. For the record I haven't reached this point yet, so I can't even prove to myself that it exists. But the more you progress, the closer you get, the more you will smell it.
Having said that, I believe people are waking up faster and faster today. Why? First of all, this state has its infectious modality. Just like any kind of state will have an effect on the people around you.
Second: People start believing they can do it, so they practice with more intention and confidence. It's like the 4 minute mile back in the day. 60 years ago nobody had ever ran a mile under 4 minutes, until Roger Bannister was the first one. Over the next year, 26 people did the same.

That doesn't really say much. But what I mean is the entire world you see out there, is being translated through your senses. If your senses didn't sense, or if you were unconscious, you wouldn't experience the world. If you don't sense, the world doesn't exist for you. You can see the world vastly different from your neighbor. 100% of your experience of whatever is happening, is being sensed by your senses. We can let these senses delude us as separated selves, or we can take responsibility, be brave to open up to them and see them clearly, and therefore see the freedom behind them. I also call that taking ownership of your experience.

Stalk me (without touching yourself): Instagram: http://instagram.com/freddyfairhair Facebook: http://facebook.com/freddyfairhair Twitter: http://twitter.com/freddyfairhairDissolve Ego, Open Your Heart by Relaxing Chronic Muscle Contractions (eg. Forehead, Tongue, Throat)Fredosophy2020-12-02 | You know those muscles in your body that are always contracting even when you don't need them to? These contractions are blocking your heart, your love, your free flow of being. Here's a method you can use to free yourself up. Simply to focus on places in the body that are in constant contraction. Perhaps have been in constant contraction for as long as you can remember. These cronic contractions can be released.
This is how these contractions sustain stress and an imaginary self/ego: Imagine that you’re in a helicopter looking down on the city ground. There’s a crowd of thousands of people that you see are making space for someone. It has to be a king or a saint or an important public figure. But when you fly down close enough you see that there is no king walking through the crowd. The crowd is just making space just to make space. This is the way the body makes space for an imaginary king (the sense of a self).
When we look closer we can see that these muscles are just in constant fight or flight mode for no reason. They think they have to watch out. They think they have to be in control. Unless you’re eating, drinking or talking the tongue and the throat don’t need to always be contracting.
When we study these tensions closely, the nervous system will eventually realize that they’re contracting for no reason, and therefore relax these muscles to spend the energy on something else.
In order for this to work, observe these contractions closely during your day. It might take a while, hours or days before you feel a release. It's worth the work. Encourage the contractions to let go of control.

These small "earth quakes" of space-like silence kept happening the whole day, in three different countries, so it couldn't have been the subway haha. Now three months later they have either reduced in intensity or just normalized into my way of being. Now I call them Flashes of Silence. They happen during many movements like washing my hands, turning around, walking or scratching my face. If the mindfulness is strong it's like I'm mildly blanking out and it feels like I'm bathing in silence. These flashes vary in depth levels. My conclusion is: More silence and mindfulness is integrating into my way of being. ▶ Request free mentorship call with Freddy: http://www.freddyfairhair.com/want-me-to-be-your-personal-liberation-guide
