Wind Tunnel Testing - Cavorite X5 Prototype Horizon Aircraft 2023-04-04 | Horizon Aircraft has completed a series of aerodynamic tests and transition flight tests at the world-class ACE Climatic wind tunnel with our 50% scale prototype. We tested at wind speeds over the aircraft's 80 km/h transition speed. These tests were a complete success and validated our advanced CFD (Computational Flow Dynamics) results. Vertical Flight Test - Cavorite X5 50% Prototype Horizon Aircraft 2023-01-17 | The Cavorite X5 prototype exceeded expectations during initial hover testing. It is extremely stable, is capable of full hover at only 65 percent power, and has hovered with 20 percent of its fans purposely disabled in order to test system redundancy. Horizon Aircraft X5 Prototype - Ready for Liftoff Horizon Aircraft 2022-10-05 | Horizon Aircraft unveils our 50% prototype, a fully electric VTOL. The Cavorite X5 is the only eVTOL that completely covers its lift fans to spend 98% of it's flight time in low-drag, wing-born flight. With a wingspan of 22 ft (6.7 m) and a length of 15 ft (4.6 m), this half-scale prototype has a takeoff weight almost 500 lb (~227 kg). Having recently completed a USAF @AFWERX-USAF Phase 1 contract, Horizon Aircraft will propel this prototype through hover testing, flight testing, and transition testing in the coming months.
