And thanks to our donors, OMF was able to get out of the garage and book a professional recording studio, Round Table Recording Company in Indianapolis.Fun fact: This is the second OMF version of "More Human Than Human", the first featured a Hello Kitty drumset and was recorded during the pandemic: youtube.com/watch?v=ddRzw9OXXlM. Well, in Michael Dalhover's case, it sure helps to have parents who are lifelong Korn fans and also sing. With their coaching and Michael's dedication, you're going to get something pretty darn special in the studio...or in this case, the garage. Due to limited funds, OMF couldn't book a professional recording studio, so the kids recorded all their parts in a garage. 16 year old drummer extraordinaire Evan Harris laid down a solid groove and even wrote some new fills for "Falling Away From Me" (be sure to check out his fills at 2:07 and 3:07) 👍 Then Maynard Vannatta, Dominic Donile and Connor Meintel brought their A game and played the song note for note! And yes, this is Michael Dalhover's actual birthday party 🎂. Michael studied "Falling Away From Me" when he was 6 years old and spent 6 months learning the song. Then on his 7th birthday OMF brought in musical prodigies from around the U.S. so Michael could KRUSH some KORN and have the BEST BIRTHDAY PARTY EVER!!!! Six Korn covers later, "Falling Away From Me" marks the final song for the kids' vinyl record entitled "Children of the Korn". If OMF ever has the funds, the records will be pressed so each student gets their Korn cover on vinyl 🤘 OMF would like to extend a huge thanks to Michael's parents for hosting the birthday party! OMF's 1st Hip Hop cover! Since 2006, OMF has encouraged our students to study all genres of music. So when 11 year old Colt started asking to record some hip hop, OMF was very excited to make his dream a reality! So with a group of students, ages 6 to 13, OMF spent nearly six months teaching the students their parts and encouraging them to make the song their own. Due to limited funds, OMF couldn't book a professional recording studio, so the kids recorded all their parts in a garage. And since we needed a large group of kids to sing the chorus in Shimmy Shimmy Ya, we combined the recording session with Michael Dalhover's birthday. So here it is, an ODB song being performed at a 7 year old's birthday party. Is ODB rolling in his grave? Maybe. But did Michael Dalhover have the best birthday party ever? Absolutely! They then followed that up with "The Devil in I", "Before I Forget" and now this in 2020. But after flipping a car over and setting it on fire, using a 50 foot tree as a battering ram, tearing off a garage door with a truck and having far too many conversations with the local police, this is it. The last OMF house destruction video! As with any OMF project there is a lot of hard work that goes on behind the scenes. With "Wait and Bleed" it started with 6 students from around the U.S. spending countless hours practicing and reinterpreting the song. For example, Seb Braganza wrote an entire solo section that does not exist in the original song! The OMF crew had nearly 30 kids from around the country in town that weekend and this was just one of 7 songs that the crew had to film in only 15 hours cuz' at midnight the police stopped us due to noise ordinance violations. Olivia, the drummer, spent nearly a year working on the song and learning to play along with a metronome...which is not an easy skill for any musician, much less a 9 year old! John Fowler, lead guitarist and life long Pantera fan, played the song note for note and strived for absolute perfection. Jonas Miller was then on hand to lay down a solid bass line and groove. Finally, Taylor Campbell brought her own unique interpretation to the song and helped create a performance that is one-of-a-kind!
