This is how I play level 6 by now if I am by myself. As I progress through larger slimes I will need to eat more per slime, and there are plenty of chances here to be more thorough at eating, and eventually each slime can take another lap around the route.
In reality I "grind" more in stage 4 than in stage 6, since it is so much easier to get into stage 4 by myself. When there are other slimes around I abandon my route and try to go where the other slimes are not going.
