I did not intend to be absent for so long. One thing led to another and it was simply impossible to create content. However, I have been sitting on this video for many months now and I'm so happy to be able to share a new brand history vid. They are such a treat to research.
As such, these are different videos than what you'd normally see in the beauty content space. But this is the style of video I've been watching (or listening to) and I hope you'll give me a chance.
Also- The big article I mention and discuss in the video is called "PROFILE OF A S. FLORIDA DEVELOPER: YESTERDAY AND TODAY" for anyone who wants to search it up and read the full thing. It's such an interesting backstory.
If you are interested in anything else shown or mentioned in the vid, please let me know.

If you have any questions about my sources I'm happy to give you direct links, when possible. Some articles or other items (such as some business records or documents related to lawsuits) are behind paywalls.
I had planned a much larger Aloette video, but I'm unable to complete it at this time. But if there's interest I will certainly pursue it in the future.

It has taken so long to be able to sit down and edit. I hope you enjoy! There are some fun little tidbits I was able to dig up, like a previously deleted video.
Most of my stat sources came from WWD (and excellence resource for beauty news, although unfortunately often behind a paywall).
All content used falls under fair use guidelines. Including other YouTube videos, and twitter and instagram posts.
And remember, this is my analysis of what happened based on the information found and my interpretation. I'm not placing blame on a specific person or incident.

I'm a billion years late on this one. I haven't had time to edit recently.
This is Part 1, the origins. There's honestly not a lot to talk about it for the beginning of BECCA. But it does set the stage for what came next!
Part 2 will hopefully be up later this week. It's my analysis of what happened and why Estee Lauder decided to pull the plug.

Welcome to another brand history/brand origin story.
For this video, I am experimenting with a different video style (like I did with the Urban Decay Naked Wild West palette video).
I feel like this style may be better for presenting these types of videos.

I'm testing out a new video format. Let me know your thoughts!
I'm using an actual mic (for the first time, so feedback is very much welcomed!). And I'd like to be able to present my videos like this in the future.
I'm discussing a potential new or upcoming Naked palette.
I cannot confirm if this is a legit palette- but I am curious. And why not talk about it?
What do you think? Do you think it looks like a real palette?
I think many signs point to it being real- but until we hear from Urban Decay we won't know the truth!
Thanks so much for watching.

I want to start talking about some notable beauty products in addition to my brand research (and other videos).
This video is all about the iconic nail polish from Chanel. Call it Rouge Noir, call it Vamp...Whatever you call it- call it a success.
I've mentioned this polish a few times in relation to other products or brands, and I thought it was worth a dedicated video.
Let me know if there are any products you'd like a deep dive on! What makeup products have a strong mythology for you?
And let me know what other kinds of videos you'd be interested in seeing!
My next brand video will be on Hard Candy! And boy, do I have the receipts.

In this brand origin story I'm taking a different tactic and exploring the social media influences on Sigma.
Being one of the very first brands to utilize influencers and affiliates, the Sigma story is definitely an interesting one!
What do you think about Sigma/Sigma brushes?
And let me know if you'd be interested in more social media makeup brands! All recommendations and requests for videos are welcome!
This video took me several days to edit- and truthfully I'm still not happy with it. But I'm going to work on improving the style of these videos as I do more!
These are a new concept for me, so I'm definitely experimenting a little bit to see what works and what people find interesting.

Welcome to another Makeup Detective video. Let's talk about a few fun things that brands recently trademarked!
This is purely speculation. I am discussing the trademarks but not making any claims to what the products definitely will be.
There's trademarks from Urban Decay, Too Faced, ELF, and more!
What do you think these products could be? What would you like them to be?
Let me know your dreams! What does a Naked Cyber palette look like for you? I had fun creating my mock-ups. Here's hoping UD does multichromes!

And it's a doozy.
Get your tin foil hats and join me on this weird journey of budget cosmetic history.
Let me know what other brands you'd like to see covered!
In my little break from uploading (thank you for all the X(Elle)-Mas support!), I've spent a lot of time researching.

Happy New Year!
This is the finale of X(elle)-Mas! I thought I would end with a quick no buy check-in, as well as a collective haul.
I received some feedback regarding showing items I may have received as gifts/PR, so I am going to do that at the end of every month.
Let me know if there are any no buy/low buy related content you would like to see!
And all video suggestions/requests are always welcomed.
I am taking a week or so off, but will be back mid-January with more content!
Thank you so much!!

Credit to my wonderful bf for suggesting this idea! He's too shy to appear on camera right now, but I'm working on it.
This is palette bingo with 4 randomly selected palettes and 4 randomly selected shadows.
This particularly combo was a challenge!
And it really goes to show what formulas go together as well!
I also decided to answer some of the questions from the Celebrity and Influencer Beauty Brand Tag that I saw from @smokey_glow and @TaraBrooke
I would love to hear your opinions on the tag!

This video is slightly overdue. I promised it a couple of weeks ago!
This is a simple wishlist video, but for indie makeup only. These are the products on my current list, and why I want them.
Despite being on a no buy, I do still want to buy pretty products. Particularly from cool indie brands that I don't have experience with. Some of it is curiosity, some of it is a desire to fill what I believe to be a "gap" within my collection- what I use and how I use it.
Brands mentioned:
Clionadh Cosmetics
Emme Cosmetics
Midas Cosmetics
Lethal Cosmetics
Lunar Beauty
Devinah
Kaleidos
Likely Makeup
Sugarpill
Rituel de Fille
Let me know if you have any experience with any of the brands/products I've mentioned! I would to hear some other perspectives about these products. Should I keep these items on my wishlist or take them off?
Thank you so much for watching!
We are two videos left til the end of X(elle)-Mas! Thank you for all the support and encouragement. I have had a lot of computer and just general technical difficulties over the past month. Thank you for your patience and understanding of the limitations I face. It is greatly appreciated.

Thank you for joining me for another X(elle)-Mas vid!
I am so happy to be collabing, once again, with @MiaRBeauty! She has such incredible, thoughtful content. Please go and check her out!
For this video, I took inspiration from the cover of the Valley of the Dolls book. Pink and white and black!
I feel like the stars of the show are NARS Schiap lipstick and the Pat McGrath Labs quad in Risque Rose (I used the "rich fuchsia" shade and the rose gold).
During the eyeshadow application part I do quote some passages from the books. Note: it's not the complete sections, I shortened many.
But I hope it may be a little interesting!
It's a fun book to read, and one of my absolute favourites. If you like tabloids and celebrity gossip you'd probably find this book an easy read!

Every year I try and do some kind of beauty industry/makeup trend video.
This is all in good fun! I am no expert, nor am I ever trying to pretend like I am. I'm just a person passionate about makeup and interested in trends and patterns.
Do you think any of these 21 things will be true for the next year?
What would you like to see become a trend?
I'm really holding out hope for that Shrek collaboration, tbh.

I am still trying to do a video every day in December! We're almost there!
I don't normally do reviews, but this was requested. I have been using these highlighters for over a month. I have worn them in different conditions and for long stretches of time.
m
These are the Kaleidos Space Age Highlighters.
This set was sent to me by Kaleidos, as mentioned in the video. All opinions are my own.
Highlighters shown:
Comet Catcher
Star Surfer
Ray Rider
Diamond Dasher
Prophecy
Sky Walker
Solar Sailor
Mars Melter
Moon Cruiser
What do you think?
Have you tried these highlighters?
I'd love to hear from you!

I am so excited to be collabing with Smokey Glow on the evolution of Too Faced!
I am talking about the brand's origin story and beginnings. How did Too Faced even happen in the first place? What's the story behind the name?
What were the first products?
And answers to many more questions!
If there's anything I didn't cover please ask! I did a lot of research and had to narrow down what I talked about, lest this be a 2 hour video.
Thank you so much Hannah for collabing with me!

Welcome to another fantasy palette video! These are all holiday inspired palettes- mostly Christmas inspired.

The palettes are:

To continue on with my makeup collection/inventory week let's talk about eyeshadow pans!
In my previous video I showed all of my eyeshadow palettes.
But how many palettes have I hit pan on? How many total pans?
As a person who loves numbers, this is a great way for me to be motivated to use more product up! The more usage, the better the numbers will be.
So for 2021, I'm going to do a humble Project Progress. There are no strict rules. My main goals are to have fun and use what I have in creative ways.
I will be doing monthly updates for Project Progress! I will recap the palettes I used over the previous month, what looks I did, and any progress I've seen.
I will also include spreadsheet notes and other general notes in future updates!
I will set further goals as the year goes on, depending on what I want to accomplish.
For example, I want to hit pan on a shadow in the ND Mini Gold palette. So at some point I will put that palette into rotation until I hit pan on a shadow.
Other projects and fun activities will be included, such as Edge of Extinction, Frankenshadows, Palette Resurrections, Shadow Showdowns, Multi-looks 1 palette, and more! And let me know if there are any particular shadow related videos you'd be interested in seeing!
Thank you so much for watching!

4 of our brands overlap! ABH, Tarte, Too Faced, and Urban Decay!
My other brands are:
CoverGirl
ELF

Natasha Denona
Physician's Formula

Mary Quant is well-known for her influence on mod fashion. This book details a simple 60s Style look.

Products used:

So I've had a few people request content like this. I hope this is helpful!
Please note I am not against reviews AT ALL. And I am not speaking about any particular person or situation. This is all based on my experiences as someone who enjoys watching beauty videos and who sometimes makes them.
I am not exempt from everything discussed here either. I hope by shining some light on these tactics that it will help people make better purchasing decisions!
I strongly support consulting multiple sources/reviews before making a decision because there are so many factors to consider.

Welcome to a (mostly) new BLUSH tag!
I was inspired by the Blush is Bae tag from several years ago. I used a couple of similar questions and then added a bunch of questions/prompts of my own.
I just really wanted an excuse to talk about blush. Who doesn't?
Questions/Prompts:
1. Tell us a little about your history with blush
2. Thoughts on the cream vs powder debate

6. Overhyped blushes?
7. Under hyped blushes?
8. Oldest blush?
9. Newest blush?
10. Do you prefer individual pans or palettes?
11. Most unique blush you own?
12. Do you have any blushes on your wishlist?
13. Are there any discontinued blushes you wish would come back?
14. Favourite brushes/tools?
15. Do you like to wear a little blush or A LOT?
16. Favourite blush trends or placements?
17. Thoughts on using eyeshadow as blush?
18. If you could create a perfect blush what would it look like?

Fantasy palette names:

I am saving for a new computer! If you want to help me out:

Welcome to another X(elle)-Mas video!
I am showing you my entire blush collection and decluttering along the way. I wanted to get rid of some older products that I just don't care for anymore.
I also opted to make a third "maybe" pile of blushes to try out. Some of these may be kept, some may be decluttered.
Let me know if you'd be interested in a follow-up on these blushes. And what you'd like to see.
I will be doing a couple more declutters this month, as well as a full collection and inventory video! So stay tuned.
Let me know if you have any questions/comments/concerns.
Thank you so much for watching!
XOXO

So I'm excited to announce I will be attempting a video a day in December! I'm not sure how it will go, or if I will be able to make the goal every day because of ~technology~ but I am going to try!
This will be my first year doing my Vlogmas equivalent...X(elle)-Mas!
My videos will be a variety of topics from declutters and fantasy palettes to retro tutorials and my full makeup collection. A bit of the past, present, and future of the beauty world !
Let me know what kind of videos you'd like to see!
I'm trying to plan as much as possible so I'm not scrambling to create. But I would like to incorporate as much of your ideas & suggestions that I possibly can.

Welcome to another brand history video!
This is a re-upload! The original video was corrupted by iMovie sometime in the exporting process. I re-edited footage. I believe the full video should be here, but the quality is definitely suffering.
Please let me know if you experience any difficulties while watching this video!
ColourPop was very highly requested- and I thank everyone who has left comments requesting specific brands! If there are any brands you'd be curious in knowing more about, please let know.
And let me know what you think about the format of these videos. I'm trying to find the best way to present this kind of content. It's so interesting to me and I hope it's interesting for you to watch!
All feedback is very much appreciated!
I've been having a great time creating content lately. Thank you to everyone for all of your support and kind words! I absolutely could not do this if it wasn't for you.
I have a ton of videos I'm planning and I'm excited to share everything with you- and all video requests + suggestions are always welcome.
Let me know if you have any questions/comments/concerns.
Thanks so much fo watching.

In this video I discuss how I'm handling black friday and all the sales that come along with with it.
If you are looking to avoid the sales entirely this is NOT the video for you!
I am talking about how to shop smarter and what I do specifically- this does not mean it'll work for everyone. But I hope some of my tips help.
This can be a very overwhelming time for those who have shopping addictions. I understand!
If you need someone to talk to I am always here. You are never alone.

PS My ColourPop history video will be coming back! iMovie corrupted the last 4 minutes of footage. I am working on recovering that footage. Stayed tuned!
So questions and comments have come up time and time again- especially whenever I do no-buy content- so I thought I would do a separate video addressing these topics.
This video contains my CURRENT thoughts and opinions on monetization, other revenue streams, sponsorships, PR, gifts, etc.
I have done my best to be open with people. I have nothing to hide. So this is in the interest of disclosure.
As mentioned in the video I do have a ko-fi page (ko-fi.com/elles).
If you do wish to donate to help my channel- that would be the way!
I do currently have an affiliate link for Good Molecules:
tinyurl.com/y5fbb446
As an affiliate that means I would get a percentage of sales made using my link (10-15%).
If I didn't cover a topic you're curious about or just want to know more about please ask! I will answer all questions to the best of my ability.
Thank you very much for your support!
By engaging with my content in any way you are helping me keep this channel alive. And I am so grateful!
Lots of love.

p.s. if you like this makeup the tutorial is the previous video!
So I know this is quite delayed at this point, but a lot of people expressed interest in the makeup that I wore in my last favourites video.
This was a very simple makeup look so I thought I would recreate it and talk about how I make red lipstick work for me!
Red lipstick tends to be something I avoid, however, I really like how this particular colour looks. And it's fun to try something out of your comfort zone now and then.
Products used:
Smashbox Always On lipliner in Crimson
MAC Ruby Woo Lipstick
ELF Retro Paradise palette
L'Oreal black eyeliner
Pixi mascara
RK by Kiss blush palette
Wet n Wild ombre blush
Kaleidos highlighter
Honestly, if you're overwhelmed by a certain part of your makeup being too bold trying switching up the order you apply! There are no rules.
Let me know what other videos you'd like to see from me!
Thanks so much for watching.

Or many things go wrong.
In this case, my apartment complex was testing alarms... The sunlight was playing me... I don't know what happened to the camera.
But hey, it's a video about my trash. So the video feels appropriate.
There's also a brief Cashmere cameo at the end. I had to mute the sound because I was listening to Taylor Swift. But she looked adorable so I had to include it anyway.
There are lots of makeup empties at the end. As well as some samples! For a through back to #365daysofsamples as I no longer have a steady stream of samples to keep that project going.
But I get asked about it all the time! I did do a full video explaining why (long story short- less purchases= less samples). But I thought I would include samples at the end of empties videos if people want to see that.
And I SWEAR I will do empties more often than once or twice a year. It always ends up a trainwreck when I don't.
Let me know if you have any questions!
And if you have any video requests please let me know as well- I'm trying to film as many as I can in a day these days- just to optimize my time. So all requests are very much welcomed and appreciated!
If you like this colourful makeup look check out my video where I followed a makeup pictorial from 1989! Very simple but very fun.
Thanks so much for watching!

This is the partner video to the video I did a couple of weeks ago about products I no longer buy.
There are still some categories or types of products that I "need" to buy and I have purchased (and re-purchased) over the past couple of years.
And of course there are always wants. But I manage those wants pretty well- even if I do speak with a bit of a dramatic flair sometimes.
But if the Urban Decay Naked Skin colour correctors are being discontinued I will cry real tears. How do I get through one night without you? If I had to live without you- what kind of life would that be? You're my world, my heart, my soul...If you leave- you would take away everything good in my life.
TELL ME NOW-- HOW DO I LIVE WITHOUT YOU??!
Let me know if you have any questions/comments/concerns!
Thanks so much for watching.
