I wanted to pay homage to Nujabes' sampling techniques by covering this piece by splicing my own piano playing.I have attempted to recreate the following sampling done by Nujabes in the Reflection Eternal piece:1. The vocals have been taken from Kenny Rankin's "Marie" from 1975. This was spliced, time warped to match the performance tempo, and added in.2. The piano in the original Reflection Eternal was a sampling of Noriko Kose's "I Miss You", which was cut and rearranged by Nujabes. This short piece expresses so much emotion of sadness and sorrow. I believe this piece to express the final breaths of life before one passes away. Naming the set of three pieces "Gymnopรฉdies", allowed Satie to create a new musical form, free of any existing constraints on form. Trois Gymnopรฉdies (1888), use then-novel chords that reveal him as a pioneer in harmony. The simplicity of the piece and lack of development in the melody went against music that was being composed at the time.
