Dancing Homer Simpson with dying batteries chaoscontroldigizine 2024-12-10 | I was going through holiday decorations today and found this talking / singing / dancing Homer Simpson. Assuming the batteries wouldn’t be good, I decided to document trying it out! It’s definitely not as funny as the beer opener. The batteries were so low that the motor couldn’t actually make it move (you can hear it struggling at times). The sound chip obviously functions differently than the one in the beer opener, as it gets lower and breaks up but doesn’t warp the voice. This video is a bit long, but I wanted to continue recording until it completely stopped making sound. (When I replaced the batteries, it was fine again!)

Resurrecting the Homer Simpson beer opener. chaoscontroldigizine 2024-05-19 | I received many requests to follow up on my 'Dying Homer Simpson's Beer Opener' video after I mentioned that I still have it. After replacing the batteries, it was unfortunately still dead due to corrosion of the battery terminals. It's definitely not something meant to be repaired, but my wife and I managed to at least bring the voice back to life! We'll try cleaning the battery terminals further, or find another way to get it powered internally so it can be used properly as a (talking) beer opener again.
