The table read will be followed immediately by a live chat Q&A with the screenwriter, director and cast. The screenplay is the winner of DTLA Film Festival’s 2020 International Screenplay Competition. Directed by Colleen Davie Janes, the table read production will feature Michael Bakkensen (“The Americans,” “Madame Secretary”) and Risa Benson (“Home Cooked News,” “Rescue Me”) in the starring roles of struggling screenwriter Gene Roddenberry and Hollywood icon Lucille Ball, whose production company Desilu took the chance on producing the first-ever prime-time science-fiction for network television. Moderator: Amy Adrion, director/writer/producer — Amy's debut feature, “Half The Picture," had its world premiere at the Sundance Film Festival in 2018, was released theatrically in June and will have its television premiere on STARZ in October. She is a graduate of the MFA Film Directing program at UCLA, with an undergraduate degree from Georgetown University. Amy grew up in New Jersey and now lives in Los Angeles with her husband and two sons.
Tina Lifford, actress/ author/ playwright/ CEO of the Inner Fitness Project — Tina Lifford has played more than 100 characters on film and television over the past 25 years. Currently she stars as Aunt Vi on the critically acclaimed show, Queen Sugar airing on OWN. She is the recognized playwright of The Circle, about how seven diverse women navigate the choppy waters of life together, and is CEO of The Inner Fitness Project, her passion work that focuses on making the benefits of inner fitness as familiar and well understood in the world as those of physical fitness. In 2019 Harper Collins will release her book The Little Book of BIG LIES.
Carmen Cabana,cinematographer — Carmen Cabana is a cinematographer of Afro-Hispanic descent. Fresh off a DP seat on Starz TV show “Vida S1 and S2 ” and Netflix's show "Narcos Season 2", Carmen's years of experience and ability to visually capture the emotions of any story, has catapulted her towards the top choices for female cinematographers among filmmakers. She has shot over 23 features around the world, with many name talents and screenings at many renowned festivals. Quickly to adapt and collaborate with locals, Carmen has filmed features in 14 US states and in Mexico, Cuba and Colombia. Carmen was listed in the magazine American Cinematographer under the Rising Stars of Cinematography article (February 2017 issue) and was also listed in Variety's 2016 Below the Line report "Up Next" as one of the most promising filmmakers.
Suzi Yoonessi, director — Award-winning director Suzi Yoonessi’s UNLOVABLE (2018) premiered at the 2018 SXSW Film Festival and is being theatrically released by MGM Orion November 1. DEAR LEMON LIMA (2009) premiered at the LA Film Festival and was released by Phase 4.
