Fables Den 2022-05-17 | This is probably one of the questions that I get asked the most by my fellow deck creators and aspiring deck creators!! Just how much should you pay your artist for your deck? There's no simple answer to this as there are many factors you should consider, and every working relationship is unique depending on the nature of the deck + the arrangements made between the deck creator and the artist. Typically, the rate is something to be worked out with your artist - TOGETHER - you may have a proposal or budget in mind, or the artist may have commission rates that they determine for their work. After this video I totally started watching singing lessons on Skillshare xD (Was totally throat singing rofl)I wrote this song after having a day. Nothing felt right on me that day. I felt ugly, my hair was a mess, and I felt like despite all the exercise I wasn't fit enough. My anxieties were through the roof, coupled with the existential dread that I've been experiencing - thanks to the collective stress over the pandemic. The point is, it was over by a few hours. As soon as I wrote this song, the feelings went away. And they will probably sneak up on me again someday, and that's fine. My self worth isn't defined by my bad days - I think we need to stop measuring how confident or strong we are based on how we are NOT feeling. E.g. "I'm not feeling confident right now - I must not be a confident person." No, you're just not feeling confident. It's a feeling. One of the ways that people have tried to comfort me in the past when I express my insecurities with my body was to tell me that I was indeed, "pretty" or "omg what are you talking about? you're so skinny!" If you're going to comment something like that under my video (or say something similar to anyone expressing their feelings of insecurity towards their body image etc)...well, I personally think it's gaslighting, so please don't lol. Maybe it works for some, but I uh, hate it LOL Because you're basically saying, "You shouldn't be feeling this way because of x, y and z". A person's right to feel anything shouldn't be judged on the basis of their body type, or anything, really. A person's right to feel is in-own. They have the right to feel ANYTHING because they exist and they are alive. And don't try to "fix" somebody's self worth by taking on the mission of rescuing them from their mental state. In a way, you are further reinforcing that their feelings are wrong. One of the things that annoy me the most is every time I express a vulnerable moment, people assume that is the entirety of my existence. For the record, it's not lol. I feel insecure from time to time. It doesn't define me. Like I said, a person's worth isn't defined by their lack of insecurity. It's defined by the conversation they have with themselves, and how they choose to see themselves. Come to think of it, their value or their worth really has nothing to do with what you do, doesn't it? I'm not saying I am perfect in holding space for people when they're down, by the way. Sometimes I say stupid shit. Sometimes I'm a little condescending. But ever since I learned about gaslighting, I try to be as mindful and open as I can when people share their feelings with me. Anyhoo. For me, there's already a counterfeit version of Way of the Panda, and who knows what else is going on!? I personally don't go look for my copy cats. I'd rather spend my energy creating and giving back to my community. Like I said in the song - it's not my fault they feel so talentless that they need to borrow someone's else's shine, am I right? Not all of the listed copyright problems have happened to me, but I know many tarot + heart-centred business owners and creators have experiences these issues. If you see counterfeit decks or pirated material, you can use the report button and contact the platform it is on to make sure that it's not getting traffic and taken down. It's a bit of an uphill battle, but it doesn't take much to report. So if you got some time for a few clicks, be sure to do so to help protect your favourite creators! And last but not least, DON'T STEAL PEOPLE'S WORK. PERIOD. If you want to repost, ask for permission and give credit where credit's due. Like don't be a dickwad posting shit that doesn't belong to you.
