SM64 DS - 50 Star Damageless + 80 Star Deathless
updated
However that was still nothing compared to that boo challenge. After finding strats in practice I thought I could just first try it, but in the end I spend literally an hour on it. I already was in a pretty mood and every death just made me more mad. Honestly one of my most miserable experiences. A big problem I am having is that when I am really pissed I am way too stubborn to practice again. I could've gotten it way quicker if I spend a couple minutes trying to look for a better strat on the final hit, but instead I chose endless suffering.
The hardest challenge is getting all 1-ups in c11. It's really difficult to get an attempt going and the ending is super chokeable. I could not figure out a consistent strat for the 2nd to last 1-up. I didn't attempt the cheevo for days, because I didn't have much motivation to attempt something that chokeable. Attemptwise I got it really quick. I still took 2 sessions with one choke to the final path, but both session were only around 10 minutes.
The CCM penguins are gone, but the SL one is still there. The eel counts as npc for some reason. The normal bullies in LLL are there, but not the ones that gives stars and the plants on THI got removed, except for one.

The first 3 stars were pretty difficult, since they all required non retryable firsties with a chokeable ending. I somehow choked the star grab for star 1 and a couple times the ending of star 2. Was kinda frustrating, especially when just finding new invis walls you never hit in practice and never dying to the actual hard jumps.
Reds seemed impossible, since they are very spread out and would require doing those firsties multiple times, but turns out from act 4 onwards you can raise the water. From there on the level becomes a lot easier to the point where remembering everything is the hardest part. Would've honestly been a really sick level without the required firsties on the first 3 stars.
Also I checked out C10, but couldn't figure out anything, so might already be done with this hack again.

One of the most cursed things I ever experienced. I wanted to make a massive choke comp out of this, but it just seems like so much work. Will decide if I want to make one after the stars in the downtown area. At least if I will go for them, since as of uploading this I went through them once with states and they seem like completely impossible.
I didn't even have some absurdly bad choke for reds, but they still took multiple days full of misery. It was rather the ways I kept dying over and over were ridiculous. Also I once got the star first try from 2/8 and on the next day I died like twice with 3 reds and then got the star again from 2/8 and I still had this many deaths in attempts.

I was so glad after fluking the ending of star 1, just to find out that's only a small part for most of the following stars.
I found some huge skips in this level. It took me a long time to make it somewhat consistent, but I found a way to skip to the end of star 2 and star 3 with a hyperjump. That strat was also incredible helpful for reds, since it skips the by far hardest jump. I just could not get intended and I also took over 10 min to get a jump on the right path just once and like 7 min to get another jump on that path. Luckily I was able to skip that path with a reclimb, because there was just no way I could start every attempt with jumps that inconsistent. I am glad I found those skips, but it also worries me that I can't get jumps in c7 already.
I spend forever learning and practicing reds, but I got such an absurd fluke. I had such a high heart rate after getting the hyperjump already and I just got more and more nervous. I got so close to dying on the final crossovers, but by some miracle I didn't false ledgegrab.
I guess I used all my luck on reds, because 100s went exactly the opposite. You have to reclimb the wc part and I was really scared I would choke that. It's just a triple jump off a slope, but under pressure it's certainly scary and I know I am often not too lucky. However I did not expect to choke TWICE, yes twice past that. I have no idea how thats even possible, since you basically just fly to the final coins.
After getting 30 stars damageless, I decided to continue to see how many stars I can get without taking damage. I got tippy out of the way, so in case I take damage during lategame I can still easily get the 70 star deathless achievement. I choked it to an invis wall at 71 stars and I was too scared doing another 50 stars, so I decided to just get the deathless 70 star cheevo right away. Meaning I had to get all 120 stars again from the start, which was pretty draining.
The smaller challenges were pretty cool again, even if some were quite tough to beat.

i absolutely LOVED the idea of this level. I can't recall a single romhack underground station level. The first section after the pipe isn't anything too special, but I already really liked the atmosphere there. After that the maze part starts and it just was so incredibly fun exploring. At first you just see split path, after split path, after split path, after split path and it's just so overwhelming, but if you spend enough time you slowly learn the entire maze and realize it's actually not even close to as big as it first seemed. I just love the entire exploring process, that's why b3313 is one of my favorite hacks. Also back then I had so much fun exploring underground stations irl when we visited a big city and this was a pretty similar feeling.
Sadly attempts didn't go that well. Star 1 took me a while already. Getting to the maze part in attempts was ridiculously cursed. It wasn't that bad, since it's not that far into attempts, but the deaths I had were just pure insanity. If I knew I had to reclimb the entire section at the end of reds, I would've gotten way more frustrated.
100s went very poorly. I started with the s1 path again, which was incredibly inconsistent and I had quite a couple deaths past it, including 2 to the basically last jump.
Reds was really fun to route, but having to do the entire vc path kinda ruins the star for me. You have to do the by far hardest normal star in the middle of reds and also nail a really scary jump to get back to the main area. Yes still not a fan of having to go past normal stars for single red coins.
I had a pretty far in death and a bunch of absolute random deaths, which were kinda frustrating. I lost like 4 attempts in a row to missing random wallkicks and it did not feel like I mistimed any of them. I more feel like my keyboard is dropping random inputs, which I've noticed more recently, but I am not certain about that. Still my practice experience carried my enjoyablity with this star.
For the longest time I was sure, that I could never beat this set, since a few achievements are just way too absurd. I still wanted to see how many I can get, so I kept going and eventually I was actually able to fully clear this.
Still there was a point, where I felt like that most of the remaining achievements would be too hard, so I decided to attempt that 18 stars no a presses/70 stars below 50 a presses thing. I uploaded it as a separate video, because it was a pretty big run and it wouldn't fit in this vid anyway. I talk about everything relevant in that description: youtu.be/XTrOeITy9TE?si=n-ViaqroPfSM88ah
After a couple more cheevos I got to RR. The normal stars were really difficult already, but 100s was on another level. You only get 3 a presses, so you are forced to clone a couple coins. The cloning is really awful, so my successful attempt was nearly 2h long. The worst part is the section before and after that. I literally could not get the bottom part in one go in practice for AGES and getting on top of the ship is nowhere near consistent, so I didn't even expect to get to the cloning part on my first session. The cloning part so scary, since one little mess up can easily make you fall down, which kills the attempt. Also grabbing the bomb a frame too early kills you as well - 7:28:55
The ending isn't super difficult, but again falling down will kill the attempt and handling the pressure of an insanely unfun 2h long attempt isn't exactly easy. Without a doubt the star that made me the most nervous.
TTC...
I tried to learn it multiple times during this playthrough, but I just could not do the beginning even with states. I spend forever, but I finally learned spinners. However that doesn't mean they were even remotely consistent. For reference, I died twice (however thats even possible) with 8/8 reds and both attempts were over 20 minutes. And keep in mind I did reds last, so by that time I should really know how to do spawn.
After getting some lower stars, which I already got really unlucky on, I decided to check out 100s and the top one and they actually seemed really doable after some messing around. I practiced more and on the next day I was decently confident about attempts...
Lets say I am used to getting unlucky, but that was on another level. I had my worst breakdown all year and one of the worsts I ever had. Losing an attempt 20+ min in to some random bs that never happened in practice is incredibly painful, but that happening like 10 times is just too much to take. In the end I just shut down my pc, which kinda corrupted the current recording.
Meaning I could not add all parts together with avidemux, so I had to take shotcut, which takes a lot longer to save vids. Saving this video literally took 15h and now get this. After 13h my computer randomly shut down during me brbing. I have NEVER seen that happening. It might give you a black screen on goes on standby mode, but never in my life my pc just turned itself off.
I planned on cutting out the corrupted file and uploading it as extra video and suddenly with some miracle avidemux was able to save the full vid.
And now that I checked again, I noticed TTC 100s is missing in this video...
Just gonna make a separate one for real now: youtu.be/ePo-2DBV5gE?si=7IFecy3OEOhyan5o

There was just no way I would be able to hold a button for potentially hours.
I couldn't really use that strat for reds, since it requires multiple A presses during the star. I got really unlucky on the star again, with a bunch of pretty painful chokes. However the most painful was the successful attempt. I just could not get good rng on the cloning and my fingers were about to fell off. I don't think I could've continued holding that button for another minute.
One thing I noticed about this set is that the points are just complete memes. RR 100s is the worst and hardest star in the entire set and is only worth 25 points. Just learning that star took me 7h and bits is worth the exact same amount. Bits fight + reds are both worth 25 points each and I was able to clear both in 2-3h, including practice. Also the RR triangle star is worth 25 as well and that one took me like 5 min to learn and I got it first try. Most 3-5 points achievements are harder than that.
BoB Behind the Gate was even worth 50 points and yes it took me a long time to figure out. I spend multiple days and probably like 8h playtime trying to understand that cloning. It was just a knowledge issue and once I figured it out, I got it first try. Not even anywhere remotely close to RR 100s difficulty and it's worth twice as many points.
I could give more examples, like that the TTC pendulum star is harder than anything else, but gives the least points, but I am running out of space and I think you get the point.
At first this was super fun and it could've easily been the best RA set I've ever played. Many sets force the same challenging over the course of the entire hack, but here every level has unique challenges, which is really cool to see. However lategame had some really nasty challenges, which just ruined my enjoyment with this hack. Mainly forcing a damageless final fight is just agony. That fight is already the worst part of the game and during all my playthroughs I barely was able to clutch it out.
I struggled a lot with the shockwave phase at first, but eventually I got better at that. However the final 3 hits are so bs and rng heavy. I choked them many times, but I got really lucky during the successful attempt. I got a free double hit and somehow neither the shockwave nor the fire hit me afterwards.

After finishing the colorful maze stars and the water side level, I took a pretty long break from this game, since the TTC buff just seemed very unfun.
At first the maze stars also didn't seem that great, since learning such a maze takes forever and for every attempt you have to walk through the entire maze before getting to the real challenge and while I had some annoying chokes, it wasn't too bad overall.
The TTC buff took a long time to learn. Really wasn't a huge fan of that level, because the lighting up only happens every 3-4 sec and only for a few frames, which makes timing some jumps really annoying, especially the ones on the 2nd layer with the 2 scuttlebugs. I wouldn't even say the level is that bad designed, it just wasn't very fun to play, so I am just glad I had no chokes at the very top.
I send it to the creator and after talking about the points I had, I figured most of my criticism is pretty much invalid, so I decided against making that video public.
However based on some of my points and the feedback of other people we got a couple updates to this hack.
Since I got another 11h workshift (yes I am uploading in chronological for once) and couldn't stream for more than 1h, I decided to check out the update and replay lategame.
The only valid criticism I had for B2 is that you can't get back from the middle platform and there is no indication that you will get there later in the level. I suggested some transparent walls, but the creator just added a platform to get back, which works as well.
The other that annoyed me a lot back then was c7 secrets. As I suggested there is now a barrier indicating you shouldn't go to the secrets area with the shell. The star really isn't bad or unfair designed in any way, for the most part it was just on me.
I also saw a couple other qol updates that I recommended, which is really cool to see. Appreciate it a lot when creators listen to feedback, tho as I said a lot of my feedback was pretty useless.
All I can say is that this hack is amazing and it's super impressive what people can make as their first hack.
Considering this run has been done within 0 a presses, getting it in less than 50 sounds pretty easy, but this was anything but easy. There are a bunch of strats I couldn't even get once with states, even after trying for hours.
In general I was kinda hitting a wall with the normal challenges and I am still certain there are many I won't be able to beat.
However the getting 18 stars without pressing A once seemed doable enough, so I decided to go for that. After that I got the stupid idea of attempting a 70 star run, since I've done most stars of my route.
There were many ups and downs during this run. I got absurdly unlucky with SSL reds, DDD cloning and WF whomp. Especially DDD and SSL weren't just really annoying, they were incredibly painful, because I had to keep holding A the entire time. Holding a button for over 20 min isn't the most fun experience. I had to come back to DDD and WF multiple times, but eventually I finally got the stars.
This attempt got so long I decided to go for the THI koopa race instead of WDW 100s or TTM reds. Could've beaten it in 39 A presses, but I wanted to finish it before dinner, which got pretty close.
While I somewhat counted my A presses, I couldn't be certain how many I am at. Only after the run I learned enabling leaderboard gives you a counter. However even like this I got added to the leaderboard, so I was able to tell the exact amount in the end.
The highlight of the run is obviously bits. The pressure hit me all at once after the first few steps, because one little mess up could kill the last 5 hours and during this run I got another phone call, telling me I got another 11h workshift the next day, so I really did not want to choke now. I tried telling myself it's only vanilla bits, but I just got more and more nervous, Even after getting to the fight I still couldn't be certain I actually beat it. It was such a massive relief, once the notification popped up.

I am not sure why ozsef called this bad and unplayable, this hack is an absolute banger.
Because of my experience with the longer categories 70 and 120 star weren't that big of a problem. The only problem was I didn't have splits to compare against, so I had no idea which pace I was on until the very end. While I have a 151 in 120 star, I had moonjump code enabled on accident during that run, so that run doesn't count officially, meaning this run was a legit pb. I also was a pretty good pb pace in 70 star, but had to miss the final throw 3 times, which killed it.
16 star felt way harder to me, since you can make hardly any mistake and that category has a ton of inconsistent tricks. I actually had a decent run, but lategame kinda screwed me over. Bad mips clip, missed early cycle in FS, horrible bljs, failed left side and missed a throw. Somehow I still clutched out the achievement by like 1 second.
I ran the other categories before, but I never touched all signs before. It seemed kinda annoying to learn where all the signs are and you can't know if you missed one until the very end. I also was scared of the goal time, since the world record is insanely optimized, but this estimate is super forgiving and way easier than the other categories. It was my first run, I died at the end of a DW reds, had a complete meltdown in SSL and still beat the goal time by over 5 minutes.
The stage rtas are mostly completely free. Besides the BBH one I got all of them during the 120 star run and that is the only one that is actually hard to beat.
The single stars are super unbalanced. For example you get 22 seconds for the snowman star in SL when the single star record is around 8 sec and even the fullgame run strat doesn't take much longer than 10 sec and then there is stuff like the shipsclip star in JRB. You need a sub 50, which requires a perfect shipsclip, not getting hit by the eel and you can't even do the smallest mistake in the rest of the star. I had to get a perfect entry 3 or 4 times before I finally got that achievement.
So lets finally talk about 0 star. Lets start by saying I practiced SBLJ across multiple weeks for literally 50h and got really close to just giving up many times.
I learned a lot of valuable information from different videos. So gonna sum up the most important things I found out:
For starting the blj hold left, instead of up left, to clip into the stairs easier. Delay the second lj and go from holding left to up left before jumping. Jumping from that little pillar is frame perfect and I tried to make it more consistent with pause buffering. In general I was messing around a lot with buffering. but while it sometimes seemed more consistent at first, it never really helped in the end. Instead of jumping of that pillar, hold up after building up some speed. It's nowhere near consistent, but a lot better than the other strat.
Still the worst part is clipping through DDD. I never got more than m432 speed, but after a few days I figured out, you have to hold neutral before holding left, which stores a lot more speed. With different amount of speed you can do different camera inputs to clip through, except it's just not consistent in the slightest. You can have the same speed, do the same inputs and still get different results. I made a whole list trying to somewhat understand the clip gyazo.com/47a3b22f9048f2deaab7672cd1faab55
However the only strat that worked every single time was the one with m455-m464 speed.
I got the clip quite a couple times from a savestate at the stairs, but I took so long to get it once from entering the room. Few days later after getting it a couple times, I decided to do a couple attempts and somehow my first one actually finished, which gave me some confidence. However on my next attempt I couldn't even get the blj once after 10 minutes of trying.
2 or 3 days later right before an 11h workshift I did a couple meme attempts and my very first attempt on stream got the sub 10. The sblj took forever, but I somehow still clutched it out. No idea how I didn't miss a throw with so much pressure, especially after having such a meltdown on throws on the other categories. I guess it was my classic, practice for 50h and get it in 30 minutes.
1 star had a really bad early game, but a first try sblj and again a super sick lategame, so I actually ended up getting a 1.5 min pb.
Can't really complain about anything, other then dying at the end of a star to a invis I didn't hit in practice.
Glad I got a pb, but still disappointed, since it could've been so much better.
RA:
Well that sums it up pretty much. While the first days were still somewhat fun, later on this became nothing but misery.
I got told you can retry every race if you get 5th or worse, which was super helpful information, so I got through the first couple achievements. I finished more cups and did some time trials on the side. I was watching some tips vid and checked out the wr. I practiced the first track for nearly 4h, but just couldn't beat the goal time even with states. I was about to give up, but then I remembered that video advised to use yoshi or toad. I knew that the entire time, but for some reason I did not realize I was playing with luigi. With yoshi beating the time was pretty much no problem anymore.
The rest of time trial was ok overall. However some were completely free, so I got them first try practiceless and others took me AGES to beat, so I don't think the difficulty balancing was very well made. Also all TT achievements give the same amount of points, so I don't think that big difficulty difference was intended.
Since TT was way more skill based it didn't piss me off as much as other achievements, tho some stuff was still very annoying. I constantly lost attempts to not drifting or to not getting the speed boost. While top runners can just spam drifts and get the speed boost in no time, I couldn't do that at all. After drifting I always had to wait for a bit before I was able to do the next drift, which killed so many attempts, since he just jumped, but didn't start the drift and drove into the next wall. The other problem I had that even after flicking left and right, the smoke often didn't change color. WR runs even drift on straight lines and I couldn't get that even with states.
The really awful achievements were the don't touch walls one. The star and special cup both took some practice and with some I meant A LOT. I practiced bowsers castle for like 4h alone. I was sure I wouldn't go for these, but after a while I discovered a very important strat - you don't have to hold A all the time. I tried to perfectly drift into each turn, but just going slower is infinite times easier. While those 2 cups were still difficult, they were decently doable with all that practice. You can still retry if you get 5th or worse, but that means you have to finish a race first. Sure is fun wasting minutes after crushing into the first wall.
For star cup you can rather easily get first on the first 3 tracks, so you can go for 3rd or 4th place on bowsers castle, which is very helpful.
In special cup nothing is as hard as bowsers castle, but every single track is pretty challenging, so I'd say it's harder still, since you still need to get 1st in the overall ranking.
For these 2 you had to get first in the overall ranking, but now for the 150cc no wall achievements you also have to get perfect score. For mushroom cup you are not even allowed to use retry after every race. However that one actually wasn't that bad. While I choked to the 2nd or 3rd lap on the third track, that one was still pretty fun.
Now for the one that was so ridiculously miserable - 150CC Flower Cup, don't touch walls and get perfect score. Something that annoyed me a lot during this entire thing are the cheating cpus. They can use items without ever collecting those boxes and their speed depends on you. What I mean is that they don't get ahead of you if you drive right next to them, even if you go really slow, but on the other hand they go WAY faster when they are off screen. So even if they get hit and you lead by quite a bit, they caught up again in a matter of seconds. But also if they are ahead of you, you will not be able to catch up again. For example in toads turnpike one cpu is a bit ahead, suddenly can drive way faster, goes off screen and is shortly after half a lap ahead without me doing something wrong. That happened over and over, which was so annoying.
What counts as wall hit is pretty questionable as well. Once it got screwed right on the finish line. In Frappe Snowland I drove off a slope and it counted as touching a wall and in the Koopa Troopa Beach the same happened, except it was the ramp.
Frappe Snowland seems free at first, since there really is only one small section with walls, but holy shit I got so much random bs. But all of that was nothing compared to the next track. Obviously most of it is cut out, since I can only upload 12h videos and I did not want to split this game into multiple videos, but I will just say the amount of bs would've be enough for an entire choke comp.
Also since the cpus are cheating, you could in theory lose on the finish line, so imagine you already spent nearly 2h, are insanely pissed, finally get past that track, just for that to happen, so you have to start over and experience all the bs over again. If that would happen to someone, that would truly suck...
The catch is, most people have only been giving 15 minutes to make their levels, so obviously not everything is perfect, since there was no time to test. Besides some jumps ended up being way harder than intended, it's really impressive to see what people can create in such short amount of time.
There was also no rules giving regarding difficulty, so while some levels were just casual, others were really difficult and took a lot of practice.
This hack needed an update, since the 45 degree wallkicks didn't work in marias level and the star ID for reds in the final level was wrong. Reds in that level would probably be harder than my hardest star. I took over 5 min to get a random jump just once and you basically have to do it twice, since you need to go back from that path. I didn't even bother trying the rest of the star or even the rest of that path, I just moonjumped through it. I was sure I couldn't finish this, so I was pretty annoyed during this playthrough.
Well turns out it was just a troll and the star was supposed to get nerfed later. The updated version didn't seem changed at all and I thought it's another troll, but you are just not supposed to do reds at all. Reds is star 2, but there also is a star 2 in the same spot as star 1 earlier.
When I came back to this hack after the update to the final 3 stars, I thought it shouldn't take super long, but secrets in marias level were ridiculously cursed. Despite finding good strats in practice and also being really consistent, I just couldn't get the star. I never died to anything remotely difficult, but every death was more random than the previous one. I honestly could've make an entire choke comp out of it.
The last star didn't go any better. My very first attempt got to the top of the level, but since I had to wait for the update for a week, I forgot my setup for the star grab, so I hit an invis wall. And after that I just couldn't get to the top again for AGES and to top it all off I died to the final jump again.
While this time the attempt was way shorter, in total it took me over 8h. I really did not want to clone for 4h again and I was sure the slide is impossible, so when I started this I doubted I'd beat this game 100% again. But then I was like what if we could somehow get through the slide, which would skip over 30 clones. I took forever to find any strats, but in the end it actually seemed viable enough, since you can just spam attempts. I wanted to grind it offline, because for one it didn't seem very interesting to stream, but also because I am way better at handing chokes offline, so just in case I will somehow choke after the slide. Little spoiler I would've been more than happy if I only died once past slide.
I remember the first time I got down the slide i had a like 160 heart rate, which isnt the best thing at the beginning of an attempt. That attempt did not live much longer...
Later I got an insane attempt. I got 55 coins before the mountain clip, but sadly I died to that trick, which hurt a lot. Literally 2 attempts later I got down the slide again and I eventually got to the cloning part. I was sure you can only choke it by falling down somehow, but guess I was wrong. I didn't want to make the vid public, but here is what happened: youtu.be/yUW-3uzJu8w?si=kszF2-17eNYSEJ6E
To sum it up: I got the first 4 clones first try and after that I just wouldn't being able to clone a coin again, no matter how long I tried. At some point I cloned the bomb-omb, which I've never seen. I thought that won't give me a coin, but I tried anyway. It seemed like the original bomb won't come back now, but eventually it respawned again. However I just couldn't clone coins anymore. At some point it was completely gone, so what I tried instead was going for the 2nd bomb. It's way harder, but I thought it's better than starting over. I was able to clone a coin again and then the same happened. I could not get another coin and after a bit that bomb also randomly disappeared and I still have no idea why.
The next day I decided to stream this, because I wouldn't be able to enjoy anything after that choke. I spend a lot more time practicing to make sure everything works, but on stream I just found more and more bs, it was unreal. Multiple chokes past the slide, including one to somehow exiting course while grabbing the crazy box and one to the monkey. My setup was to speak to him in a certain spot and then just having to hold left and to make sure you get on top of the mountain, you can adjust with holding up. This attempt it worked perfect without doing anything different, but on that attempt I somehow still just false ledgegrabbed, which screwed up the camera, making the rest of the star impossible.
A big problem of this hack is not being able to know what you did wrong. Good example for this is vc. You don't see the level at all and the pause menu doesn't show anything either, so I had to get more creative. Right before the elevator path I ledgegrabbed the edge and backflipped at 29 sec. Waited for like 3 sec, did another backflip, while holding up right, which puts you in the perfect spot for the red. Then I had to turn around and double jump on the next elevator. The next section is way harder, since I had to go based on counting, which is not very accurate, especially because the elevators might not be in the perfect spot from previous inaccuracies. I expected many deaths there, but at first I couldn't get any attempts there. I kept failing the 29 sec backflip to the point I thought my timing is wrong. I checked in the vanilla rom just to confirm my setup is correct. I switched back to this rom and from there on I didn't die a single time to that jump anymore and I had many chokes afterwards. I still have absolutely no idea what went wrong, because I didn't change my setup in the slightest and since it doesn't matter if the elevator is rather high or low, it's not remotely tight either.
I am just glad I am finally free from this game now.
However I did the mistake of trying to find and figure out as many stars as possible by myself, which made the 2nd half of the playthrough absolutely miserable. I actually got almost all stars like this, only had to look up like 3, but come on stuff like c7s5 is just not findable. The indicator coin is way too far off the stage, so it doesn't even render even if you are looking towards it.
I also wanted to look up the final OW star, but I just couldn't find it anywhere in quad. I was about to give up when I noticed it was literally right next to me lol
Also decided to upload this is separate video instead of putting it in a comp, for one because the hack is pretty good, but also because I am kinda running out of daily videos. Certain projects like NoD RA, SoR RA and running Cursed Castles (which I am still on) took so much time.
I wanted to start with the hardest stages to have them out of the way and be more motivated for the rest.
However the game was overall just way more difficult than I remembered. I was scared of the final stage obviously and maybe stuff like the core levels or c14, but all OW3 levels were really brutal and even OW2 was pretty tough. Even OW1 gave me some trouble, since it has a couple challenging achievements.
I had many ups and downs during this playthrough. While I had a couple really lucky flukes, other stars did not go that well and gave me some of the most ridiculous bs chokes I've ever seen @C9 sign, @C15 reds.
The biggest problem for me was how nervous I got all the time. I am already really bad if it comes to nerves, but having this beaten before added so much pressure, since I felt like I shouldn't be stuck for too long on any star.
Anyway really glad I was finally able to finish this journey now.

The precise lavabounces at 12:40 is by far the hardest part of the star. In a successful attempt it doesn't look that insane, but it's incredibly precise. You can do them earlier, but that would mean having to do the spawn reclimb at the very end and it still would be over 5 minutes into the attempt, so it just wasn't worth it. Since comeback I easily practiced just this section for over 10h. I tried to analyze which input on which frame gives the most distance, which wasn't exactly easy, since every time I thought I figured out something, it just stopped working completely. I changed my strats for that part a lot, in fact even right before this session. My old strat stopped working once again, so I messed around with holding neutral on the second lavabounce. The problem was during this attempt I forgot what I came up with. I couldn't remember if I should do another buffer while holding neutral, that's why the long pause. I decided to go with this and it actually worked out.
Despite this being a lava level with a lot of coins, you are hardly allowed to do any mistakes, because there are quite a lot required lavabounces. I somehow did a mistake at every single section where I was allowed to do one:
I missed the jump at 10:10
Bad angle at 15:43
Peak mistake at 17:29, wasn't a big deal, but would've liked to keep the coins just in case
Barely lived that 19:48
Not sure how that fire hit me, but just lucky I didn't fall off 22:18
Didn't take damage, but reacted on the last frame 24:45
This makes it seem like a forgiving star, but it really isn't. You are only allowed to do a mistake in certain sections and if I took any more damage I wouldn't have lived.
Even with all the practice I put into this star, I just can't believe I fluked it like this. My first day of attempts went really poorly, didn't get a single attempt out of spawn. This session didn't start out any better at first, but then I finally got a pb at least, which died in a very.. uh interesting way (as seen at the beginning of the vid) and then this attempt happened out of nowhere. So I got the star 4 times from before precise lavabounces, one time even from 7/20, from before even starting that path, but doing it in an attempt is just so much harder. I was shaking since lavabounces, so every jump becomes a million times scarier and I just overthink everything.
This also has a couple other pretty hard challenges, like having to get 120 coins, all 1-ups or only being allowed to use certain buttons for some stars. Especially having only A limits the moveset a lot and makes even the easiest jumps quite challenging.
Certain stars were so ridiculously cursed, it just left me speechless.
For some reason I couldn't add the different parts together, so I had to use shotcut and the first time the program crashed and on the next day I took over 12h to save the vid bruh gyazo.com/51edcca46c32cf40911becfa1f3e0f81

I didn't want to do this level for a while, since it didn't seem very fun to learn. The level is way too dark, so figuring out where to go takes forever. Once I found out what to do, the normal stars were pretty fun.
Reds however didn't feel that well designed. The 2nd red is basically the entire star 1 with a scary wallkick to get back. Unless I was missing something but the next red requires a bunch of firsties. They are somewhat retryable, but everytime you don't get a firsty you lose a bunch of height. After that you have to get that precise second frame and what I really disliked was the big reclimb, so you had to nail that jump twice. There are also a bunch of other scary jumps, like those tight wallkicks to the top, which you have to do twice as well. Pause buffering makes it not super bad, but you still can easily get collisioned.
I was super nervous after the reclimb, so I am really glad I didn't choke the ending.
I didn't do 100s, because I got told there is a !box replacement for it. What I didn't know is that box is probably even harder than just collecting 100 coins. You have to do all of star 5, which is the by far hardest normal star and then nail an insanely tight jump. I still went for it, since for one no one else even found that box, but also because I didn't want to route and practice coins on stream.
The only star that went really well was venino reds. I wanted to separate 100s and reds, but somehow still clutched out reds on my very first attempt.
Crudelo didn't feel that hard, because I have a lot of experience with it and para cam helps quite a bit. I was scared thinking it's not that bad would backfire and it sure did. I had many deaths to spawn, one to the last reclimb, a 14,16 and 19/20 choke. Sure is fun having to end the session after chokes like that.

The 2nd half of the level needed all caps, so I had to take a pretty big break inbetween.
Overall another decent level, the only thing I could criticize is that star 5 is basically star 4 again, except for the very ending.
Also the majority of this game is rather easy, but c12, b3 and especially c15 is a huge difficulty spike. Those levels aren't bad, in fact I really liked the b3 idea, they just felt a bit too hard in comparison to the rest of the game.

For some reason I was super nervous the entire time playing this stage. I usually get way too quick way too nervous, but here it was especially bad and I have no idea why. I was just flying to some of these stars, because I didn't want to learn intended, but I also wanted to get more practice with the climb. And for the !box star I couldn't even figure out what intended is.
I hoped the pressure would get less after doing the climb a couple times, so I did reds last. However I suddenly couldn't climb the stage at all anymore. I kept dying to random stuff over and over again, so when I finally reached the top again I was even more nervous than the first time I got up there. Honestly no idea how I didn't choke it with that pressure. Also missed the last red and almost didn't make it back in time. I never missed that in practice, so I had no idea flying back will be that tight.
It's still a decent level, I just really wasn't a fan of the tower at the beginning. While it's not super bad, the amps are still really annoying and it has some collision issues. That shouldn't be that big of an issue, but I just kept falling down over and over again.
While there were a bunch of pretty interesting challenges, like the get the top BoD star with 20 coins or less (which I didnt see at first, so had to do the star twice), others weren't that great. Having to do AW in just lakitu cam and the kill 6 bullies in the key 2 fight was horrible. The biggest problem was having to get all reds in every single level, which made the 6/8 patch completely irrelevant. That could've been a decent challenge for a few levels maybe, but having to do that in every stage just feels really uncreative.
I remember being at not even 120/252 achievements, but already had 6:20h of material, so I really started to doubt I can fit this into one vid, since you can't upload videos longer than 12h. I tried to play a bit faster and chat less during attempts, which I guess wasn't super necessary. While I had long levels like c15 or c6 still left, I got the hardest levels out of the way early, meaning many achievements I did late were rather short.
Also speaking of c15. Overall it went alright, especially only having one death past spawn for reds was really lucky, but the warp to b3 and the tower star were ridiculously cursed. I spend longer on those, than on all other stars combined, including practice. In general a couple completely random stars were just cursed. Like the c8 koopa star where I died to an invis 3 times at the very end. The B2 lavabounce star with uncountable chokes, after getting the ending first try in practice without even having a strat or the last star in c7, where I just could not get out of spawn anymore.
I had many ups and downs, but overall it was a decently enjoyable experience.

After star 1, I took forever figuring out where to go next, just to find out there is another path right next to the spawn.
In this level reds don't take you out of the level, so you can combine them with star 4. However these stars went pretty awful. I didn't really have super bad chokes, but I just could not get attempts going. Getting to the main reds area isn't even that hard, but I got ridiculous death after ridiculous death.
I practiced them for like 2 days and started with some normal stars, but they went awful. I game over twice before even getting a single attempt past the first path. I also died twice to the end of panels, but from there on stuff went really well. I had 2 dumb deaths past spawn, but fluked the rest. I know it's not that worth, but I wanted to separate 100s and reds. I came up with a route to spawn 100s before that pillar jump. I missed the lava red, but I was able to get another red, so my route worked out and somehow I just never died afterwards. Honestly no idea how, because I was insanely nervous and had absolutely no confidence in any jumps.
Still took me 3 days to beat, since some stars are still kinda tough, but overall replaying this hack was really fun.

10:29 Red Coins
Another pretty cool stage. I struggled quite a lot getting on top of the level, because getting a good angle from that slope is kinda difficult and the collision on those thins on top is a bit awful. I was really worried having to do that late into reds, but when I finally got to reds I discovered there is a completely different section, which also leads you to the top.
I found a way to get the red from the switch path and go back to the beginning and get the 2nd switch path red from the top, so I could skip the middle section. However I am not even sure if that's easier, since the middle section really isn't that hard and you just delay getting to the hard part of the star.
There also was an extra challenge to do the top star damageless, which gave me a lot of trouble, but funnily enough I got reds on my first attempt afterwards. I am not sure if it counts, since I got the star before, but if we ignore that reds here is the hardest star I ever got first try.

13:45 Red Coins + VC Star
17:53 Bully Star
Despite this being a side course, it still has a 100 coin star. I took forever routing it, since I never really had enough coins at the end. I found another 6 coin on the path for the bully star, but at the end I did barely have enough time to get all boxes from that little wallkick section, because the ceiling was too far down already. I didn't want to use the reds area to get extra coins, since they are pretty hard and getting into the pipe is awful. Also couldn't find a way to get back, so that wasn't an option anyway. However then I remembered the 10 coin box in the middle, which made this way more viable.
Attempts went pretty bad. I had many far in chokes, so killing all those goombas over and over again became quite annoying.
This level is still pretty cool with some unique challenges. The slowly moving down ceiling is an interesting concept and while I didn't like reds at first, they still offer a creative challenge, which is decently doable with the right strats,
