By Boxing Day the preceding trailer dropped into the ident - Already the heads were now just nodding and not moving from side to side plus, the backlighting stayed light blue and the top robin had just about resigned. 17 junctions here - including the clunky one to Noel Edmonds).

BBC 1980s Clock confusion David Baldwin 2022-06-29 | In October 1981 as the UK clocks went back on BBC1 Richard Straker realises with horror that the effect of fading from a clock on the Noddy rack to one on the wall won't work as he's got them the wrong way around AND in vision he's got the one on the Noddy rack. This then means a fade to black as Noddy moves to the globe (about 5 seconds). I've repeated it with a clip of Noddy going through the motions. BBC2 was okay as they transmitted late anyway.On 28th March 1982 Roger Maude had better luck as the clock was now electronic. Unfortunately having made it to the National Anthem - disaster strikes. Over on BBC 2 Peter Bolgar has no headaches All is electronic by 1985.

The first clip is of a music box festival organised by the last man to run the building as a cinema Jon Gresham and was shown on Look North on 12/9/1983.The second clip is from 18/6/1985 including interviews with Thelma Symmons - in charge since the late 1950s and Peter Robinson - Projectionist, Manager, Bingo Caller.....- and not his full-time job.It closed as a cinema in 2003 and is now a department store.

The BBC used the branding for the 1984 Budget - with David Dimbleby. But by the 27th of July 1984 that was IT.
