RGB LED Matrix with an ESP8266 - How to get started
Brian Lough 2018-04-29 | EDIT: I've started to sell boards on Tindie to make connecting to these display's really simple! Check them out here:tindie.com/stores/brianlough Correction to wiring diagram!twitter.com/witnessmenow/status/994336562329587725 I think a RGB LED Matrix is one of the best displays for an Arduino project at the moment, they are large, pretty easy to use and it's not even that expensive. Cheap and Easy to Use ESP32 Screen!
Brian Lough 2023-10-27 | There is an ESP32 with a built in 320 x 240 LCD display with a touch screen called the "ESP32-2432S028R", since this doesn't roll of the tongue, I propose it should be renamed the "Cheap Yellow Display" or CYD for short. This display is only about $15 delivered so I think it's really good value. The simplest ESP32-S2 setup for PS4 Jailbreak
Brian Lough 2022-02-24 | Youtube showed me a video by @mbcrump today about how to use an ESP32-s2 to jailbreak a PS4, and I thought this project it was the perfect use for the ESP-Web-tools that I have been looking at for the last while With this method you flash the project directly from your browser onto the ESP32-S2, you do not need to download or install anything! This flashes the latest (as of 24th of Deb) ESP32-Server-900U code from stooged You can check out Michael's video here: youtube.com/watch?v=kVvRV0i4Xr0 He also has plenty of other content related to PS4 Jailbreak on his channel if you are looking for more info. YouTube Live Stream API on the ESP32/ESP8266
Brian Lough 2021-07-14 | The Youtube Live Stream API kind of sucks, but we can still use it to build some cool things. Some twitch channels have these impressive setups where the live stream chat can interact with physical objects on the stream in real time and I wanted to see if I could achieve similar with the Youtube API directly on an arduino, and while it's never going to be as good as twitch for reasons explained in the video, I wrote a library for it that can be used to build some interesting things. In this video I show you some of the methods and tricks I used to make the library actually usable, including presumably straight up abusing the API terms of service! 00:00 - Intro 00:51 - Issue 1 - How to deal with a larger response 02:54 - Issue 2 - Alternative to the API when they are being unfair 06:09 - Issue 3 - When they don't give you enough credits, we got to get creative 08:33 - What would you build? --------------------------------- Links: --------------------------------- YouTube Livestream Library - github.com/witnessmenow/youtube-livestream-arduino D1 Mini TFT Shield - github.com/witnessmenow/D1-Mini-TFT-Shield Josue's SPI Display Array - tindie.com/products/savageelectronics/spi-display-array --------------------------------- My Discord: --------------------------------- Come hang out and talk about this video or any project you are working on!discord.gg/nnezpvq --------------------------------- Github Sponsorship: --------------------------------- I have set up a Github Sponsorship page, it's similar style thing to patreon. Reverse Mounted LEDs (Diffusing LEDs through the PCB material)
Brian Lough 2021-05-04 | In this video we will look at the process of reverse mounting LEDs so they shine through your PCB which gives a really nice diffused effect! Brian Lough, the Project Doc - Episode 3
Brian Lough 2021-02-23 | Trying out a new format where I have people come on to talk about their project for about 10 minutes each. Usually it is on my second channel, but let's try it out here for a change
People can:
- Show off their completed projects,
- Show their work-in-progress master pieces
- Brainstorm an idea
- Even come on to ask for help!
Projects don't need to be anything complicated, even if your blinking an LED and want to talk about come on down!

A LED Display for Smarter Every Day
Brian Lough 2021-01-25 | Smarter Every Day recently tweeted about looking for a display that someone in a different part of the country could update while he was live streaming, I felt like this was the perfect project for me so I decided to build it! This was actually a pretty simple project that costs about $60 to make, and is actually a lot of fun! You could reduce the price by $20 if you only use one panel Here is Destin's tweet: twitter.com/smartereveryday/status/1351921431257505792 --------------------------------- Project Link (code, instructions. parts etc): ---------------------------------github.com/witnessmenow/ScrollingLEDMatrixTelegram --------------------------------- Where to get the Shield: --------------------------------- My Tindie Store (will be back shipping soon) - tindie.com/products/brianlough/esp32-i2s-matrix-shield UK based (ships elsewhere) - store.eplop.co.uk/product/esp32-i2s-matrix-shield ---------------------------------

Why I use the Portable Arduino IDE [Two Minute Tidbit]
Brian Lough 2020-02-29 | Two Minute Tidbits are roughly two minute long videos that try show you something interesting about working with Arduino. In this video I’m going to show you the Portable version of the Arduino IDE and explain why it’s actually really useful, I even exclusively use the portable version where I can. It is really useful if you have library conflicts between different sketches You basically just download a zipped version of the IDE and create a "portable" folder, but what I think is more interesting is why you might want to use it. --------------------------------- Links: --------------------------------- Arduino Portable Page: arduino.cc/en/Guide/PortableIDE Arduino Download Page: arduino.cc/en/main/software Potential workaround for Macs (I have not tested this!): forum.arduino.cc/index.php?topic=539551.msg3678998#msg3678998 ---------------------------------

Bluetooth HID using just an ESP32 (inc Bluetooth macro keypad)
Brian Lough 2020-02-09 | In this video we are going to take a look at using the built-in Bluetooth of the ESP32 to emulate a Bluetooth Keyboard. With some ESP32 development boards starting at less than $5 delivered, this is a really inexpensive and simple way to create wireless custom keyboards such as a Macro keypad that could be used for controlling scenes in OBS. We’ll first look at how to use the ESP32 HID keyboard library and then I will show you how I used this to build a battery powered Bluetooth Macro Keypad. --------------------------------- Software used: --------------------------------- ESP32-BLE Keyboard library: github.com/T-vK/ESP32-BLE-Keyboard Code for the macro keypad (inc new Bluetooth one):github.com/witnessmenow/arduino-switcheroonie --------------------------------- Hardware used: --------------------------------- D1 Mini ESP32 Board*: https://s.click.aliexpress.com/e/_rujrNG TinyPico ESP32 Board: tinypico.com 4*4 Matrix Keypad* - http://s.click.aliexpress.com/e/nKw2LcCu USB Bluetooth 4.0 Dongle*: Amazon.co.uk: amzn.to/2uuZovu Amazon.com: amzn.to/39oGvtg Amazon.de: amzn.to/2S9DS8C ---------------------------------

Hacking a kids light with an Arduino (temperature controlled night light)
