Just a fun session playing with Insta360 One X camera attached to 7" cruiser quad. Stitching is superior comparing to Xiaomi Mijia Mi Sphere camera I was using before. Simple TPU mount designed in a few hours works well and almost invisible in stitched sphere. 5.7K resolution of One X is still not enough for good looking reframed shots. Insta360 software is good enough, allowing interesting projection setting like I was using in this video: flat-looking wide shot with ugly ReelSteady-like distortions on the edges of the frame... with motion that looks super fast :)

Lakhta Center Again :: FPV Building Dive

You've constantly asked to do this again, for whatever reason... Building is still under construction and I've checked for industrial climbers one the sides of the building I've used for diving. The one climber on the right side somehow found me on instagram and asked for footage :)) Sadly, without tower cranes this building is much less fun to dive...

Unfortunately, VTX on my 5" build was ~dead, so I had to use 7" long range rig, a few observations:
- With 7" you can get 4 times full 460 meters climb + dive on a single 4S 1300mAh lipo and safely return home (only 2 dives on 5" rig), this video is captured using only one lipo;
- I was unable to tune out pitch wobbles on 7" build after switching to betaflight 4.0, however recommended settings for 7" rig works great otherwise, you get much less jello with dynamic filter switched to 'low' frequency range mode;
- Low camera tilt (20º) is not good for dives, even with stretch-X 7" frame quad does bad job fighting wind and turbulence on the way down, something like 35º would provide the quad much more authority to fight external sources of PID error. But higher tilt would add up to already high aerodynamic drag from 7" props and frame that make dives much slower.

To be fair, Lakhta is relatively boring place to dive – no other buildings around, tower looks pretty much the same all the 460+ meters way down, dive takes too much time (around 15 seconds), only two climbs were safe to do with 1300mAh lipo. The coolest parts were the tower cranes dives and acrobatics around supporting constructs. Sadly, those cranes are disassembled already. One more interesting thing I noticed there – the tower is high enough to notice quad getting out of tune because of too low PIDs coefficients (maybe somebody will implement altitude sensor based PID attenuation some day?).

On safety: whole complex was under construction, it was relatively safe to fly there - normal safety rules were applied for skyscraper construction workers (helmets and so on), little 500g+ drone can't cause serious damage there. Even diving speeds were not as fast as I expect them to be - quad reaches terminal velocity in about 3-5 seconds and pretty much stops accelerating. I also used reliable TBS Crossfire connection (LQ 99% at ~700 meters) and 500mW 5.8Ghz vtx was enough for crystal clear video.
