Title: FAA Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS) Sighting Reports: A Preliminary Survey
Abstract: A preliminary analysis of US Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS) sighting reports was performed by inspection and review of a subset of the 11,229 reports issued by the FAA between 2014 and March 2021. The purpose of this study was to enhance basic knowledge concerning the nature and presence of drones in U.S. airspace, explore the possibility that UAP are recorded in the FAA data, and contribute towards enhanced aircraft safety. Reports were manually reviewed for altitudes, descriptions, shapes, sizes, event time of day, and other characteristics. This study finds that unexpectedly large numbers of drones are being encountered by pilots at surprisingly high altitudes across the US, well above the official FAA drone altitude limit of 122m (400 ft). In addition, unusual UAS descriptions such as “oval object,” “elliptical, silver-colored,” and “bubble-shaped” suggest the possibility that some are UAP rather than drones. Sixteen UAS close approaches (less than 150 m or 500 ft) to aircraft in flight were recorded, with six moving within 30 m (100 ft). The data compiled here on UAS numbers, altitudes and characteristics indicate both a potential risk to aviation safety, and that UAP may be present among these reports.

Title: Aerodynamic Interactions and Turbulence Mitigation by Unidentified Aerospace-undersea Phenomena
Abstract: When a craft moves through fluid media such as air and water, it creates disturbances which lead to drag forces on the object. The motion also generates turbulence in the media, which causes large variations in pressure, fluid velocity, and temperature (in the case of air), especially at high speeds. At extreme speeds, movement through air can create pressure shock waves and sonic booms. Paul R. Hill postulated a mechanism that may explain why objects with rapid acceleration and extreme speed do not interfere with the surrounding air, and this idea can be extended to explain UAP moving through water without experiencing significant pressure changes or cavitation. The mechanism involves the application of a force field emanating from the moving object to control fluid flow around it. While the application and source of this force field is purely speculative, our research using computational fluid dynamics (CFD) has demonstrated that operation of such a force field can effectively reduce fluid dynamic features that are commonly associated with rapid movement of objects through fluid media.

Title: System Study of Constraints for the Creation of UAP Electromagnetic Signature Optimal Detection Systems
Abstract: This paper examines optimal UAP detection network strategies that deploy either video or still cameras over a large geographic area where UAP events randomly occur. Such a system may help improve the understanding and collection of hard data related to UAP encounters. This paper was presented at the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics [AIAA] June 2023 conference. The project study points out the difficulty of getting good optical data and why historically, this has been so difficult.

Peter Reali – Project Manager
Peter highlights the recruitment needs for ongoing projects and introduces how to apply, suggest projects, and access details on the SCU website.
Ralph Howard – Drone Study
Project Drone analyzes FAA reports of pilot-drone encounters. Phase 1 studied 1,317 of 15,000+ reports, showing many "drones" flying at alarming altitudes. Phase 2 examines all 15,366 reports for deeper insights and trends, aiming to discern between drones and UAP. Future phases will evaluate Canadian and UK drone reports.
Tim Oliver – Propulsion Study
The focus is on understanding UAP propulsion and interactions in different environments. Studies include examining UAP movement through air and water, exploring theories like force fields, time dilation, and gravitational constant alterations. Further research delves into the Alcubierre warp drive, magnetohydrodynamic drives, and how UAP might influence radar data. A UAP signature database is in development.
Robert Powell - UAP Reports Analysis (1947-2016)
From 100,000+ UAP eyewitness reports, 301 met strict criteria. Analysis was done on shape, size, speed, effects, and sound. Common shapes include disks, triangles, and spheroids. Some objects displayed exceptional speeds while remaining silent. Key findings include the association of shape with size and behavior.
Larry Hancock & Ian Porritt - Nuclear Intentions Study
The UAP phenomenon poses challenges from their perplexing physics-defying maneuvers to questions of intelligence and intent. SCU has been exploring UAP behavior, especially in the context of the U.S. atomic warfare complex between 1945-1975. An overview of the study model and insights will be presented.

During the 16th and 17th centuries, a period of dramatic change in scientific thought and understanding occurred which today we call the Scientific Revolution. Now we are in the midst of a discovery of even greater magnitude, but few in mainstream science are acknowledging it.
Unidentified Anomalous Phenomena (UAP), previously labeled UFOs, may represent technological equipment manufactured by an advanced civilization. Almost overnight, UAP have gained acceptance by the government and some in academia as worthy of scientific study.
Recent developments in the study of UAP will be discussed, including the Galileo Project’s search for extraterrestrial equipment near Earth, Professor Garry Nolan’s research program on unusual materials, and the new All Domain Anomaly Resolution Office in the Pentagon charged with establishing a science plan to account for characteristics and performance of UAP.
Without presupposing an explanation UAP, it will be suggested that dedicated scientific study of these phenomena might constitute a New Scientific Revolution which unlocks new knowledge about the universe, fundamental physics, or both. In view of the huge investments by the government and private sector in artificial intelligence, quantum information science, renewable energy, climate research, national security, and space travel, the conclusion will be made that, with similar support, advancing our understanding of UAP can be a crowning achievement of a new era in human history.

Bryan Bender is an award-winning national security reporter that has covered the perspectives of Congress and former / current Pentagon officials on the UAP topic for years, and now serves as an advisor to Americans for Safe Aerospace.
How did we get to a place where mainstream institutions take UAP more seriously, and what are lawmakers' and military leaders' various outlooks and concerns on the emerging issue? Bryan documents his experience covering UAP as a journalist, what the landscape looks like behind the scenes, and more.

We have an exciting lineup this year for AAPC 2022, which includes numerous special guest speakers presenting research on a range of interesting topics related to the study of UAP. Our key note speaker will be Mr. Ryan Graves, former F/A-18F Super Hornet pilot with over 2000 hours of flight time. Ryan conducted two combat deployments aboard the USS Enterprise and USS Theodore Roosevelt before honorably separating. In 2018, Ryan joined BAE Systems’ FAST Labs as a Technology Development Manager, focused on AI, hypersonics, and multi-agent intelligences, winning programs such as DARPA’s Air Combat Evolution TA1 and AFRL’s Skyborg Vanguard Program. Currently, Ryan is the Director of Operations at Quantum Generative Materials (GenMat), a material science company using Quantum Computing-enabled AI to discover novel materials.
Mr Graves will be discussing how the USG might increase the investigatory power behind UAP. Technical innovation in the USG is constrained by the inability of government R&D to keep pace with peer nations and/or industries. As the DOD establishes a technical roadmap to investigate UAP, how might the USG’s expand the technical innovation ecosystem and leverage scalable problem/solution pairing in potentially unclassified environments? In this presentation, we will explore how the USG could engage the technical expertise of the wider innovation ecosystem to investigate UAP.
This will be both an in person and virtual live stream conference event, where participants are encouraged to engage and ask questions during the presentations.
The on-site registration is now SOLD OUT, but you can still attend virtually if you register before 5/31/2022!
