Calogero - Si Seulement je pouvais lui manquer - with English subtitles

4K version by Lara Fabian Multimedia channel.
Music by Igor Krutoy.
Lyrics by Lara Fabian.
Video direction: Alan Badoev.
Lara wrote these lyrics while she was living for a few months in Spain. She was stunned by the story of Maria Vitoria who was murdered by her companion. It triggered the need to create a song in Spanish to warn women and let them know that escaping is possible.
Since then, Spain has become one of the most advanced country (laws, police education, police protection, ...) in the fight against this type of violence.
Renaud, a French singer, born in 1952, was massive in the 70s and 80s. He was known for his social contesting and debating songs.
But he also revealed another side of him, more poetic, when he became a father. He created two of the most beautiful songs a parent could have written for his child: Morgane de toi in 1983 and this song Mistral Gagnant in 1985.
He wrote this song when traveling to Los Angeles and deeply missing his daughter. In this song, Renaud talks to his daughter, remembering his own childhood and summoning his lost memories.
The title refers to a candy brand he was fond of when he was a little boy.
Mistral Gagnant is now a French classic and all French recognize it with the very first piano notes.
Lara has always been attracted to songs dedicated to children and childhood, she is always keen on resurfacing her inner child. Another example of this is her own song Bambina. She loves to be surrounded by children and has been a coach for several programs involving young boys and girls. This was the case twice in 2024 in France: for Dream Team then late the Voice Kids (that she won as a coach with her talent Tim).
Her version of Mistral Gagnant is very emotional, and very nuanced, not surprisingly, and her interpretation emphasizes the nostalgia and the melancholy feelings conveyed by the song.
This video is an excerpt from the full concert video provided with english subtitles by Gaby (from Gaby's Reaction Corner channel, formely Lara The Ring Fabian channel). Big thanks to Gaby for the translation.

Thanks to T Giorgiana and Lara Fabian Espana channels.
This is from her favorite - and her fanbase's favorite - concert, from the "En Toute Intimité" (In Complete Intimacy) tour, recorded in Paris, Olympia, in 2003.
This concert with only a piano and 4 chords, letting her voice shine, is an absolute gem.

This song talks about her hypersensitivity, how it impacted her, how she has grown and is now able to manage this. How she does not let this decrease anymore the faith in herself.
Lara wrote this song based on her experience with her beloved mother Luisa, who suffered in her last years from the Lewy body dementia, a disease with a nightmare combination of Alzheimer, Parkinson and hallucinations symptoms.
Lara as well as many of her friends and relatives are recorded in this video. Even Luisa herself appears at the end.
They don't have any make-up, any fancy costumes: they appear in their naked truth, as we will all do when we will face the final moments and the death.
Luisa died from this disease a few year later. Lara said in interviews this experience was by far the worst she had in her life (and she faced a lot of different challenges).
She wrote it when she lost her soon-to-be born baby. But this applies to many different difficult situations.
This is the official music video and I added english subtitles to it.
Lara is one of the best vocalists and performers alive, and she has written 200+ songs in 4 languages covered by the greatests. Usually she is better live than in her records or music videos but this music video is so beautiful I decided to use it.
The amazing dancer's nickname is "Lazy Legs".
Co-created by Lara and Vitaa.
I created this lyrics video with the french lyrics and some english translation of mine.
