I Quit Fast Fashion 🌿 5 Year Update The Stitchess 2024-05-25 | Five years ago (honestly it's closer to six at this point, but five is such a nice, clickable number), I decided to quit buying clothing from fast fashion companies. Cutting out fast fashion whenever possible, living with less, and buying from sustainable and ethical sources when I could has taught me a lot about my relationship with shopping. 🎀 I Made an Oversized Patchwork Quilt Jacket 🎀 The Stitchess 2023-06-17 | This sewing project is one of the most over the top jackets I've ever made. Creating A Darker Alternative Fashion Wardrobe ⛓🖤🧷 Method and Lookbook PLUS 9+ DIY Projects The Stitchess 2021-10-03 | Is it goth? Is it punk? Is it creepy cute? Is it pastel goth? Yamikawaii? Honestly I don't know and I don't really care. For the last year and some change I've been experimenting with some darker alternative outfits in addition to my usual pastel kawaii style. I decided that since I enjoy wearing multiple aesthetics so much, it would be a lot easier and more fun for me to break my wardrobe up into a few essential capsules that can mix and match with each other - that way I can wear whatever style I feel like wearing on any particular day. In today's video I'll walk you through how I make stuffed animal bags. The first project is a teddy bear bag made from a thrifted toy that I washed and altered. Chain details make it perfect for edgier styles like goth, punk, and emo. The second project is a patchwork bunny bag that is created entirely out of scrap fabrics, including the stuffing. The bunny bag is created using pastel colored scraps, so it works great with more kawaii styles like lolita, fairy kei, or even mori or cult party kei. 🌸🎀 Restoring a Skirt from the English GLBs 🎀🌸 The Stitchess 2021-01-23 | Giving a minor glow up to a skirt originally made by manga artist M. Alice Legrow for volume 5 of the English-language Gothic and Lolita Bible. The GLBs were a huge part of the reason I got into jfashion so I was crazy excited to get my hands on this skirt. It was clearly never made to actually be worn though, and in it's original condition it wasn't suitable for regular wear. The ACTUAL Risks of Thrifting Clothes The Stitchess 2020-11-21 | Thrifting has gotten a bit of a bad reputation in popular culture. Until very recently, it was actually far more common to look down on thrifted clothing as "lesser", but luckily the recent popularity of thrifted style has been a major factor in redefining the face of secondhand clothing. HOWEVER, this does not mean that buying secondhand is completely risk free. There are some factors that should be considered when you shop at thrift stores. Most of us are aware of stains and smells, but far more hazardous is the potential to bring home a fresh bedbug infestation. 🌷🌸 Sock Dreams Full Review 🌸🌷 The Stitchess 2020-10-12 | Going down a more sustainable path with my wardrobe is one of the best decisions I have ever made - however, there are some items that are just harder to find now. Simple little things I used to take for granted are now things that require a lot of research before purchase. Simple little things like socks. There are several "sustainable" basics brands that carry socks, but I just wasn't impressed by any of the big names like Pact or Organic Basics. After brands like Everlane and Reformation have had their "sustainability efforts" revealed to be little more than greenwashed empty promises, I've become especially wary of brands that heavily push "green" advertising over quality products. So when faced with a wardrobe crisis (I ran out of good socks) I instead returned to an old favorite who has never let me down. Also they have plus sizes.Hi! I'm The Stitchess!
