I'm not sure which lights were made by which company, although I suspect the ones with the number 1585 cast into the top were made by WRRS. Other versions have the number M17768 stamped into the top of the housing, while others have no numbering at all.
The older lenses have WRRSCO written on one side and 1575-11P on the opposite side, with the newer looking lenses just having the number M150-11309.
This is the Cemetery Road level crossing at Dimboola, it is located in western Victoria on the ARTC main line from Melbourne to Adelaide. The crossing has a second track which is the seldom used branch line from Dimboola to Rainbow.
These signals were installed on November 25, 1983. Both signals have unmarked bases and Westinghouse LED lights, with the signal on the western side of the crossing also having a Safetran Type 3 electronic bell.
During mid 2023 the crossing received new white background Stop on Red Signal signs, with no other changes to the equipment.

This is the Macaulay Rd level crossing at Kensington, Victoria. It is located on the Craigieburn/Seymour line, just a few kilometres from the Melbourne CBD.
These signals were installed on February 25, 1965 and have undergone many equipment changes in the intervening years, to keep things simple I will only focus on the existing equipment.
Both gated signals have McKenzie & Holland bases, Safetran gate mechanisms, Artcraft gate lights and General Signals Type 1 electronic bells. The bells were installed in 1998 and are the last remaining GS Type 1 bells in Melbourne, quite possibly all of Australia. The bell on the western side of the crossing rings from start up until the gates have lowered, while the eastern bell rings for the entire activation. Both bells are in poor sounding condition and it is amazing they have survived this long.
The crossing has a rather crazy mixture of lights and I can only presume it was used as a testing ground for different LED brands. The eastern gated signal has one pair of Alstom red LED lights (the only ones in Victoria) and a pair of Westinghouse incandescent lights. The western gated signal has 3 Westinghouse incandescent lights and 1 Western Cullen Hayes first generation LED which is mounted in a Westinghouse frame.
Despite this seemingly random mixture of lights both gated signals still retain their original McKenzie & Holland crossarms with the junction box covers being painted white, breaking from the normal Victorian custom of the entire crossarm assembly being painted black.
The gate-less signals here have a more normal range of equipment, with the eastern signal having an unmarked base and McKenzie & Holland crossarm with Westinghouse incandescent lights. The western signal is much newer and replaced the original signal some time around 2006, it has an unmarked base and a pair of Westinghouse LED lights.
Filmed on July 8 & 9, 2022 and March 13, 2023.
This is the Palomino Drive level crossing at Nana Glen, New South Wales. It is located between Coffs Harbour and Grafton, on the North Coast Line which connects Sydney and Brisbane.
These signals were installed on October 15, 2008. Both gated signals have Western Cullen Hayes bases, Safetran gate mechanisms, Westinghouse LED gate lights, Western Cullen Hayes lights with United Group LED's and Western Cullen Hayes mechanical bells.
The bell on the western side of the crossing rings from start up until the gates have lowered while the eastern bell rings for the entire activation. The gate-less signal on the eastern side of the crossing has a Western Cullen Hayes base and United Group LED lights.
The crossarms for the lights on both gated signals are mounted rather strangely, with the junction box facing towards the gate, I have no idea why!
The train shown in the video is 2SB3 freight from Sydney to Brisbane, with locomotives NR49 and TT111.
Filmed on September 5, 2023.
This is the Robinsons Road level crossing at Langwarrin, Victoria. It is located southeast of Melbourne, on the Stony Point Line which runs from Frankston to Stony Point.
These gated signals were installed on June 18, 2001 and replaced the original gate-less signals which dated back to December 19, 1973. Both signals have unmarked bases, Safetran gate mechanisms, Artcraft gate lights, Westinghouse LED lights and Westinghouse hybrid bells. The eastern signal also has an Artcraft healthy state indicator, the western hybrid bell rings quite fast and actually died during the first activation, although worked normally during subsequent activations.
Train information:
1st & 2nd trains: Locomotives VL357 and VL360 are doing crew training runs between Frankston and Long Island for Qube crews in preparation for them taking over the BlueScope Steel contract. Filmed on December 19, 2021 with Tazzie Transport youtube.com/@TazzieTransport
3rd train: Sprinter service from Frankston to Stony Point, filmed on May 30, 2022.
This is the Wingham Road level crossing at Wingham, New South Wales. Since I last filmed the crossing in June 2020 the Safetran mechanical bell has been replaced by a Western Cullen Hayes mechanical bell.
In March 2021 the town of Wingham was inundated by major flooding which lasted for several days, during this time the railway line was covered by water which caused continual activation of the level crossing. It is likely that this prolonged activation was a contributing factor in the Safetran bell dying so quickly.
The Safetran bell can be seen here in part 2 youtube.com/watch?v=giVfXLlupxQ
Part 1 youtube.com/watch?v=tHCAZ-Vgi2c
Train information:
1st train: NT36 XPT service from Grafton to Sydney.
2nd train: 2WB7 Qube steel service from Port Kembla to Brisbane, with locomotives QL005 and QL007.
Filmed on September 4, 2023.
This is the Coralville Road level crossing at Moorland, New South Wales, it is located on the North Coast line which links Sydney and Brisbane.
The crossing was passive until these signals were installed on August 24, 2004, all three signals have Western Cullen Hayes bases and Alstom LED lights. Originally the crossing had a Western Cullen Hayes mechanical bell which has since been replaced by a recycled Westinghouse teardrop bell.
The bell most likely came from the crossing at nearby Coopernook which previously had a teardrop and was upgraded with new signals some time around 2017.
Train information:
1st train: 2WB7 steel from Port Kembla to Brisbane, with locomotives QL005 and QL007.
2nd train: NT33 XPT service from Sydney to Casino.
3rd train: 6M42 empty rail train from Telegraph Point to Morandoo (Newcastle), with locomotive 8178.
Filmed on September 4, 2023.
This is the Leusings Private Road crossing at Coramba, New South Wales. It is located near Coffs Harbour, on the North Coast line which links Sydney and Brisbane.
These signals were installed some time around 2000, both signals have unmarked bases and Western Cullen Hayes lights, mounted on Henkes & Harmon crossarms. Originally the crossing didn't have a bell but possibly some kind of makeshift alarm, it has since been fitted with a Safetran Type 3 electronic bell.
The LED's here are rather interesting, they resemble Western Cullen Hayes 1st generation LED's however they are a clear version which was only used for a short time in NSW around the early 2000's, following this the Alstom/United Group LED's became standard and replaced most of these now rare units.
The train seen in the video is NT32 XPT service from Brisbane to Sydney.
Filmed on September 5, 2023.
This is the Brooke Street (Calder Highway) level crossing at Inglewood. It is located in north-western Victoria on the broad gauge line from Dunolly to Manangatang which is mostly used to transport grain.
These signals were installed on December 8, 1964, with both signals having McKenzie & Holland bases and Westinghouse LED lights. The southern signal has a pinnacle and Artcraft healthy state indicator, while the northern signal has a General Signals Type 2 electronic bell.
This bell appears to be an early model Type 2 and is the 3-way variant which was previously available from General Signals but is now discontinued. It was called the 3-way version due to having a three position switch which could be used to change the volume to high, medium or low settings. This particular bell is set on loud volume.
It is rare to find these bells with the volume switch intact, as most (particularly on Melbourne Metro) had the switch removed and the hole plugged with a bolt or other material to reduce the risk of water leaking into the bell. Later versions of the bell had the switch located inside the base to protect it from the weather.
The train shown in the video is 9155 empty grain from North Geelong Yard to Boort, with locomotives XR555, XR554 and BL34.
Filmed on May 3, 2022.
This was the Warrigal Road level crossing at Mentone, Victoria. It was located on the Frankston line in southeast Melbourne.
These gated signals were installed on July 27 1983. They were removed from service on October 4, 2023 as part of grade separation works, with a new temporary crossing being constructed nearby.
Both gated signals had unmarked bases, Westinghouse HB gate mechanisms, wishbone gates with Artcraft lights and General Signals Type 2 electronic bells. The northern signal had two pairs of Westinghouse incandescent lights and one pair of McKenzie & Holland lights, while the southern signal had three pairs of McKenzie & Holland lights. The upper lights on each signal were mounted on McKenzie & Holland crossarms and the lower lights mounted on Westinghouse crossarms. Each signal had one very old and rare McKenzie & Holland light which had provision to attach a rear facing lens unit.
Both gate-less signals had unmarked bases and a pair of Westinghouse incandescent lights, with the southern signal having extremely short visors for some reason. Both pedestrian crossings had Magnetic Autocontrol swing gates.

This is the Western Highway (A8) level crossing at Ararat, it is located in western Victoria on the ARTC standard gauge line from Melbourne to Adelaide.
The Western Highway is the main road linking Melbourne and Adelaide, originally it had several level crossings along it’s route. Deviations and grade separations over the previous few decades leaves this as the last remaining level crossing on the road.
These gated signals were installed in 2004 when they replaced the previous gate-less signals. Both signals have unmarked bases, Safetran gate mechanisms, Westinghouse LED lights and Safetran Type 3 electronic bells which replaced the original WC Hayes mechanical bells some time after 2010. The bell on the eastern signal rings from start up until the gates have lowered, while the bell on the western signal rings throughout the entire activation.
The gate-less signal on the western side is a more recent addition, being installed some time between 2008 and 2010. It has an unmarked base and a pair of Westinghouse LED lights.

This is the Belgrave Street level crossing at Kempsey, New South Wales. It is located on the North Coast Line which connects Sydney and Brisbane.
The original signals were installed here on December 5, 1974. They were replaced by the current signals some time around 2009, although the original median signal was retained on the eastern side of the crossing.
Both gated signals have Western Cullen Hayes bases, Safetran gate mechanisms, United Group LED lights and Western Cullen Hayes mechanical bells. The bell on the western signal rings from start up until the gates have lowered, while the bell on the eastern signal rings for the entire activation, it is a new bell which was recently installed to replace the previous one which had died.
The eastern median signal has an unmarked base and McKenzie & Holland lights fitted with United Group LED's. The western median signal has a Western Cullen Hayes base and United Group LED lights.
Both pedestrian crossings have Alstom LED lights and Magnetic Autocontrol swing gates

The design of these lights was first produced by GRS in the 1990s, with production later taken over by Alstom, followed by NEG in more recent times.
This kit contains all three lights, and the necessary wiring / hardware for gates up to 32ft in length.
Please note I will not be answering questions regarding price.
The circuit board was specified as untested in the listing, but it was worth the gamble given the low price.
Upon receiving the board, an initial test unfortunately revealed it as non-functional. However, a friend of mine who is an amateur in electronics managed to recondition and overhaul the board into fully functional status.
This board was manufactured in July 1996 by Western Cullen Hayes (as were all type 1 boards). The specific version of this board is 'BELL5', which dates back to June 1994. The next revision 'BELL6' was released in September 1998.
Following restoration of the board, I decided to install it into my General Signals type 1.5 electronic bell housing.

This is the Ochtertyre Street level crossing at Deniliquin, New South Wales. Despite being in New South Wales, the crossing is located at the end of the Victorian owned broad gauge line which runs from Bendigo to Echuca and Deniliquin.
These signals were installed on October 5, 2001, both signals have unmarked bases and Harmon lights with what could possibly be Western Cullen Hayes LED's. The southern signal has a General Signals Type 2 electronic bell which replaced the original Western Cullen Hayes 0333 mechanical bell some time after 2008. The northern signal has an NEG healthy state indicator.
The train shown in the video is the Metro Trains EV120 Track Evaluation Vehicle being hauled by locomotives P17 and P16. The train came from Echuca to Deniliquin as run number 9013 then returned to Echuca as run number 9012 after examining the condition of tracks in the mostly disused yard at Deniliquin.

This is the Sunraysia Highway/North Western Road level crossing at Saint Arnaud which is located in north western Victoria, on the Mildura line.
These signals were installed on July 14, 1943, although the masts were the only original equipment which survived at the time of filming. Both signals had early style VR bases and Westinghouse LED lights. The eastern signal also had a Safetran Type 3 electronic bell and an Artcraft healthy state indicator light.
By the time you see this video, these gate-less signals will have been removed and the crossing upgraded with new gated signals. The upgrading work was scheduled to take place between June 19 and 23, 2023, with the other six crossings at St Arnaud being upgraded with gates at the same time.
The train shown in this video is 7901V Pacific National freight from Appleton Dock to Merbein, with locomotives G523 and BL30.
Filmed on May 6, 2023.
This is the Werris Creek Road level crossing at Werris Creek, New South Wales. Since I previously filmed the crossing in June 2020, the McKenzie & Holland teardrop bell on the northern signal has been replaced by a Western Cullen Hayes 0333 mechanical bell. Interestingly the new bell is painted black and appears to have been recycled from another crossing.
My previous videos of the crossing can be seen here:

This is the Bank Street level crossing at Avenel. It is located on the ARTC managed Melbourne - Sydney line in northeast Victoria, Australia.
These gated signals were installed on April 3, 2005 replacing the original gate-less signals which dated back to December 1961. One of the original signals remains on the eastern side of the crossing and has a McKenzie & Holland base with Westinghouse LED lights, while all other signals have unmarked bases and Westinghouse LED lights.
The crossing has three Safetran gate mechanisms and three Westinghouse hybrid bells. The bell on the western side of the crossing rings from start up until the gates have lowered, while the other two bells ring until the gates rise. The hybrid bell on the middle gate-less signal is interesting in the way that it rings at a much slower speed than usual, the reason for this signal's existence is unknown but I suspect that it may have originally protected some kind of road access to Avenel station which has since been removed.

This is the Olympic Highway (Town Rd) level crossing at Junee, New South Wales. Some time around late 2022 or early 2023, the McKenzie & Holland teardrop bell on the western signal died after more than 50 years of faithful service. During early 2023 it was replaced by a Westinghouse hybrid bell which was recycled from an unknown crossing. There have been no other changes to the equipment except for the signals receiving new 4 Tracks signs.
My previous videos of the crossing can be seen here:

This is the Hilltop Road level crossing at Upper Ferntree Gully, it is located on the Belgrave Line in eastern Melbourne. These gated signals were installed on July 20, 1985.
At the time of filming, both gated signals had Westinghouse Brake & Signal Company bases and Westinghouse HB gate mechanisms with Artcraft gate lights. The northern signal had a General Signals Type 2 electronic bell and Westinghouse incandescent lights. The southern signal had a General Signals Type 3 electronic bell and an interesting mixture of incandescent lights, the forward facing lights were Westinghouse while the rear lights consisted of one Western Cullen Hayes and one Harmon light.
The gate-less signal had a McKenzie & Holland base with Westinghouse incandescent lights mounted on a McKenzie & Holland crossarm. The pedestrian crossing is equipped with Westinghouse pedestrian barriers.
Over the weekend of August 12 & 13, 2022 the incandescent lights were replaced with new Westinghouse LED lights and the Westinghouse HB gate mechanisms replaced by new Western Cullen Hayes mechanisms.

This is the Glenferrie Road level crossing at Kooyong, Victoria. It is located in eastern Melbourne on the Glen Waverley Line. The tram tracks also cross the railway line here and this type of setup is know as a tram square crossing. The crossing equipment and signals for the trams and trains are manually operated from a mechanical interlocking frame in the adjacent signal box.
Due to the trams and trains operating on different voltages, the section of overhead wiring covering the crossing is usually energized at 600 volts for trams. When a train requires to traverse the crossing, the traffic & tram (T) signals are placed to stop and the crossing signals activated. This then allows the overhead wiring to be switched to 1500 volts and the signals cleared for passage of trains.
Both cantilevers have Westinghouse LED's for the overhead lights and Westinghouse incandescent for the mast lights. Both gated signals have Westinghouse Brake & Signal bases, Safetran gate mechanisms, Westinghouse hybrid bells and hinged wishbone gates with Artcraft gate lights. Both gate-less signals have unmarked bases and Westinghouse incandescent lights.

This is the Barleyfields Road level crossing at Uralla NSW, it is located on the Main Northern Line between Tamworth and Armidale. The crossing is sometimes referred to as the New England Highway, as this section of road was originally part of the highway until it was shifted to a new deviation on the northern side of the track in 1980.
These signals were installed on June 3, 2016 and replaced the original signals which dated back to the 1960's. Both signals have Western Cullen Hayes bases and United Group LED lights. Both signals originally had Western Cullen Hayes electronic bells, although the bell on the northern signal has recently been replaced by a McKenzie & Holland teardrop bell.
The house at the crossing was built in 1883 and provided accommodation for the gatekeepers who were responsible for opening and closing the manually operated gates which existed here prior to the crossing receiving signals in the 1960's, the house is now heritage listed.
Train information:
1st train: NP23 Xplorer service from Muswellbrook to Armidale, filmed on July 14, 2022.
2nd train: NP24 Xplorer service from Armidale to Muswellbrook, filmed on July 15, 2022.
Normally this Xplorer service runs all the way to Sydney, although at the time of filming it was only operating between Armidale and Muswellbrook due to flood damage further south in the Newcastle/Hunter region.
This is the Linacre Road level crossing at Hampton, it is located on the Sandringham Line in southern Melbourne. These signals were installed on December 19, 1956 and this is the oldest surviving gated installation in Melbourne which still has much of it's original equipment.
Both signals have unmarked bases, WRRS gate mechanisms and Artcraft gate lights. The front facing lights are early style McKenzie & Holland incandescent lights, while the rear facing lights have been replaced with Westinghouse incandescent lights. For some reason the rear facing lights on the eastern side are mounted on a separate mast with an unmarked base, most likely to improve sighting. The bell on the eastern side is a General Signals adjusted Type 1 which sounds for the entire activation, while the bell on the western signal is a recently installed General Signals Type 3 which sounds until the gates have lowered.

The night shot was filmed on May 29, 2022.
This is the Station Street/Officer South Road level crossing at Officer, Victoria. It is located on the Pakenham Line in southeast Melbourne.
The crossing is scheduled to be closed by 2025 as part of the the LXRA program to remove all road crossings from the Pakenham Line. Under the removal plans the road will simply be closed and the crossing removed, with a new pedestrian crossing being constructed at the site.
All four signals at the crossing have unmarked bases and Westinghouse incandescent lights. Both gated signals have Westinghouse HB gate mechanisms, Artcraft gate lights and Westinghouse hybrid bells. Both bells ring from start up until the gates rise.
Filmed on June 20, 2021 and May 30, 2022.
This is the Burkes Creek Road (Old Trunk Road) level crossing at The Rock, NSW. It is located between Wagga Wagga and Albury, on the main line from Sydney to Melbourne. I previously filmed this crossing in November 2017 and the video can be seen here youtube.com/watch?v=hkun6xSrKNA
The Western Cullen Hayes mechanical bell on the western side of the crossing which was previously dead has since been repaired and rings until the gates lower, however the bell on the eastern side now sounds weak and does a lot of clicking, hopefully it can also be repaired.
Train information:

This is the Camms Road level crossing at Cranbourne, Victoria. I previously filmed the crossing in June 2021 and the video can be seen here youtube.com/watch?v=ov-ol_uH0Zw
During January 2022 the old signals were removed and the crossing rebuilt to include a new second track as part of the Cranbourne Line duplication. Brand new signals were installed and the crossing reopened on February 7, 2022.
Both new signals have unmarked bases, Siemens gate mechanisms with the new cast logo, new style Westinghouse LED lights and Artcraft gate lights. The only recycled equipment used on the signals is the electronic bells, the eastern signal has a General Signals adjusted Type 1 bell while the western signal has a General Signals Type 2 bell. Both bells ring for the entire activation.
The pedestrian crossing on the northern side of the road was rebuilt in a new position and a second new pedestrian crossing was constructed on the southern side of the road. Both pedestrian crossings have new Magnetic swing gates with alarms mounted inside the gate mechanisms. These swing gates have the newer branding which reads Magnetic Access to Progress, previous models were branded Magnetic Autocontrol.
The crossing is scheduled to be removed in 2024 and replaced by an overpass, with construction work to begin later this year. Given that these new signals will only be in service for two years it is surprising that money was spent on buying new equipment rather than using recycled equipment.
