I played incredibly throughout this run, besides Chamber 11/12. An unfortunate 8 second loss there that was really silly, but other than that, I guess all of those choked runs were worth the price.

In January, I completed Bloodlust, the hardest level I had ever beaten at the time. It was supposed to feel like an ultimate test of my skill, and back then, it totally was: It took me 17,111 attempts to clear it, the most I had taken on any level up to that point. But soon after beating it, I realized that the grind it took to complete it felt underwhelming. After all, it only lasted a few weeks, and Bloodlust was supposed to be the ultimate challenge.
I wanted to pick a level that would seriously push the limits of what I thought was possible for me to beat. So, I shifted my attention to demons 60 spots above Bloodlust on the hardest demon list. Verdant Landscape stuck out as very positively recieved; thus, I quickly figured out that this was the level I would use to prove to myself I could complete anything I set my mind to in GD.
Unfortunately the level is bugged on 2.2. Thankfully, GD legend swiborg showed me how to play the level on version 2.1, and also VERY generously provided me with the paid version of Megahack. I was ready to do this.
The grind began on May 26th. Immediately, the extreme jump in difficulty compared to Bloodlust hits me like a truck. Every single click is a timing, and nearly every click depends on the last. I end the first day with 1800 attempts and 84-100. And it was no secret already that this...was going to take a LONG ass time.
Excruciatingly slowly, I learn the level while racking up an insane amount of attempts. On May 30th, I manage 77-100 after 3,875 attempts. Then on June 3rd, I get 63-100, with 10,000 total attempts. Fast forward to June 9th, and I finally finished learning how to do the whole level. My attempts stand at a staggering 22,500. Already more than Bloodlust, and my best on the level was only 8%. FUCK.
So now I'm finally ready to grind runs on the level, and it hits me that the level is insanely unbalanced. 0-27, the predrop, is a contender for the hardest segment due to the extremely difficult wave sections. Then are the duals from 27-44, the cube part being on the easier side for Verdant standards, and the ship spiking right back up to silent difficulty. Then, 44-62 is what makes the level a serious nightmare. This part is absolutely ludicrous. It's littered with chokepoints like the insane mini-wave at 47 and the entire 56-62 segment which has ungodly difficult timings and flying. The level cools down somewhat from 63-74, and then hits you with another extreme mini-wave chokepoint before you finally reach 77-100 which is arguably the easiest section, albeit still very chokeable.
Progress from 0% was unbelievably sluggish, but noticeable. By July 1st, I had reached 62%: But it was at this point that the grind became unbearably challenging. My consistency widely varied day-by-day and I felt incredibly stuck. I grind to get a new best for 2 weeks without any success until I finally broke through on July 13th and 14th with 65% and 70% respectively. I got 27-100 on the 14th as well: This felt like the end-game. On the 19th, I reach 83%, a devastating but promising sign of a completion that is soon to follow.
What followed instead was the feeling that I had hit rock bottom. Every death became infuriating. I wanted so badly to be done with the level that every time I fired it up, it felt like an absolute chore. Dark Shizzal was unleashed, and I thus began with the desk slamming. I would die two more times at 83 over the next couple weeks, until finally, on August 1st...it happened.
People have called this level balanced. Most call it fun. For me, it felt as if it was neither of these things. But I beat it, and I did exactly what I set out to do: I proved to myself that I can do anything I want to in this game. That is the power of believing in yourself, never giving up.
I want to give my endless thanks to swiborg, who encouraged me to go for this and supported me every step of the way. He is a true Shizzal fan, along with everyone else who tuned into my streams and my close friends who all motivated me to continue, despite the difficulties of this insane grind.

Super happy with this run! I nearly threw this so hard during the Wheatley fight, but I clutched up and managed to close it out. Finally, the grind has paid off.
To provide some context: Until just a couple of days ago, the world record for this mod stood at a 3:44. I set that record over three years ago. Last year, a new skip was discovered at the start of the game that shaves 30 full seconds off of the run. That is what made this time possible!
About the run itself: Absolutely unbelievable. This came out of nowhere, and I legitimately did not think a time like this would even be possible in this category. Without a doubt, this is easily the best run I've done out of any of my Portal mod speedruns, but maybe that's not saying much. I will not claim that this is flawless, but considering the extremely reset-heavy nature of the new skip in the first split, I'm incredibly happy with this time.

As for the level itself, it seriously put me to the test. I expected an incredible challenge going into this, of course, but even so, I did not anticipate just how badly Bloodlust was going to tear apart my mentality.
I grinded for nearly a month to beat it, and while progress was steady at first, I seriously struggled to finish runs to 100% for a majority of my journey. I found the last 30% of the level so choke-prone, and it took forever for me to become fully comfortable with it. To make matters worse, the first 50% of this level is just so incredibly hard, especially the first 30%, and it made grinding from 0% astonishingly boring and demotivating. It legitimately drained the life out of me to play this for more than a couple hours, resulting in me ending sessions in an exhausted state. Both of these issues combined made the level feel like a lottery where every now and then I would get a "golden ticket" by reaching 50%, just to die somewhere really late in the level, forcing myself to have to do it all over again. And...yeah, I did die a LOT towards the end, so this became really painful as the fails racked up.
Overall, though, I can now let out a sigh of relief with this level being behind me. I'm so happy I didn't give up on beating this, and for what this might entail in terms of what lies ahead if I do so choose to beat anything of even higher difficulty.
This level was certainly a challenge: While this isn't my most difficult completion by a long shot, it still ranks as my 5th hardest to date. The first half is a ton of fun and on the low-end of extreme demon difficulty, but the level really picks up in the second half and gets seriously crazy out of nowhere. It all culminates in the 70-90% area, which I somehow completely fluked and then went on to beat the level with my previous best being 67%. Overall, not a bad experience, but this level's numerous difficulty spikes made it very intimidating at first.
With this milestone being behind me now, I have big plans for my next extreme demon, which (hint hint) will be a new hardest if I manage to finish it off. We'll see what happens.
Attempts: 4,659
As you can hear from my squeals of excitement after completing the level, this was completely unexpected! But seriously, to perform such a massive fluke on my new hardest demon by nearly 40 list spots, I could not be happier that I ended up being that fortunate.
I had a fun time with this level, although the first half was extremely frustrating for a while and is easily the hardest part of the level. Once I got consistent, however, this was a blast. While I had a good time with it and I can see why people love this level so much, this is far from my favorite extreme demon. The balancing was just too harsh for my tastes.
Overall, I can't believe that after 8 years of playing this game on and off, I completed a level more difficult than Sonic Wave. GGs.
13,889 attempts (My 2nd highest attempt count. Still less than Bloodbath!).
4th place in the world at the time of uploading! Honestly so happy to reach my long-term goal of top 5. I grinded really hard to get this time over the past couple of months...and just a few weeks ago, my PB was still over half a minute slower. I can't say for sure if I'll attempt to bring this lower in the near future, but it feels so incredible to see my Portal 2 skill finally somewhat approach the heights I've reached in Portal 1.

In version 1.0.0 of Portal: Prelude, there is a huge sequence break in the final map of the game that allows you to grab the portal gun early, which saves 7 minutes. This is a massive advantage over later versions: However, the warp pipe easter egg is not in this version, so you lose about 4 minutes having to play 6 chambers you'd normally skip. The net save is around 3 minutes.
This run isn't really good, but I figured it was decent enough to settle on for the time being. I routed out the chambers we used to skip (and also the final map) to the best of my ability, but since I threw everything together in about a day, there is likely a lot of room for optimization.

Special thanks to Bailey, edible, Msushi, Osha, and Sebastian for providing feedback on this video.
As for the level itself, it's a mix between difficult memory sections and tough timing-based skill gameplay. The balancing, as a result, is a mess. The first 35% of the level is easily the hardest part, but I also found myself struggling heavily with the 60-68 range and the final 15%. The memory parts in between are pretty easy once you learn them, although there are embedded timings.
I really wanted to enjoy this level since it holds a lot of nostalgic value to me, but my experience beating this was easily one of my worst in the game. I had dozens of deaths past 60%, and probably close to 10 past 80% including 3 final wave deaths in the 90s. While it's not as painful to play as something like Phobos, this level seriously pushed my mental game to its limits.

A massive PB, and another minute barrier broken! As of today this puts me at 6th on the leaderboards. Overall the run up to Chapter 8 was pretty incredible, but then I fumbled the ball in the last 10 or so minutes of the run. Still, the pace was extreme enough to net me a 23 second PB and a 57 minute time. I plan to continue grinding this down to my heart's content on my Twitch.
Honestly frustrated with this time because I know I can do way better than this. I tried grinding for a lower time after achieving this run, but I've since moved on to other things. This run was performed on 1/21/23.
A good run could definitely enter 11:1x territory, and a great one would land in the lower 1x range.
Way too many time losses to be fully satisfied with this run. I plan to improve this even further soon enough.

Happy to finally get the 11:2x, but this run was nothing spectacular. Still have some time save in a few maps (11/12, 18, e00), so I might try and bring this down further.
As for the level itself, it felt impossible to string everything together at first considering this is a level that is over 3 minutes long. However, eventually ALMOST every part got extremely consistent. The exception to that was mainly the pre-drop (0-21%) which was easily the hardest segment of the level.
Not much else to say, I'm super happy I was able to beat this and it was pretty enjoyable from beginning to end, thanks to how consistent it got. Admittedly though, it got pretty stressful beating this as a new hardest and I'm not 100% sure I'd recommend it for anyone looking for a big step up.
This level, while painfully frustrating to learn, is a lot of fun to play afterwards and actually gets incredibly consistent in the end. In my final hours playing this level I was constantly getting to the 70s which, when I first learned the level, seemed unthinkable.
The hardest part of the level is the last UFO at around 90%, but I extensively practiced that part in advance, and managed to only die there 3 times which is well-above average compared to other people who have beaten the level.
All in all, I would recommend this level to anyone patient enough to learn it in its entirety (which is a pretty tall order).

This level was a real nightmare. I usually have fun with a lot of the challenges I set for myself in this game but this level caused me a lot of pain, particularly because of its balancing. I especially struggled with the 35% wave, the 50% ship, and any given part between 60% and 90%, which is riddled with chokepoints. I also died at 96% which has to be one of my most heartbreaking fails. I'm not sure how I'd personally rank this alongside the other extreme demons I've beaten in this game but it's definitely somewhere in my top 5 hardest levels completed.
Attempts: 4,929
After dying at 96% three times, I finally beat my new hardest demon! I am very impressed with my skill: I managed to beat this in just five days and 7.3k attempts.
Overall, this level was a fun time from start to finish because it eventually got super consistent. I am very happy to complete this level after seeing it first verified five years ago!
The level doesn't really have any huge difficulty spikes, making it really fun to play no matter where you're practicing from, and it also gets super consistent. In the 40 minutes leading up to this 100% run I died in the 80s three times.
Some people might consider this my new hardest demon, but Bloodbath, Sakupen Hell and this level are all really close on the list so it can really go either way.
Combined attempts on this from a couple years ago to now added up to 10,567 (keep in mind, this includes 144fps attempts, and I beat this on 360).
Pretty solid run for my current skill level. Been working hard at this for the past couple months. Happy to be improving at Portal 2 so I can be the Ultimate Portal Speedrunning God. This run puts me at 7th on the leaderboards as of 6/29/2022.

First off, I apologize that the video is only in 30fps. If I record in 60fps on this older version of the game, I get a lot of lag and cannot play as well.
Okay, so the run itself: Definitely some ups and downs, but this was basically a world record because I didn't make any major mistakes. Obviously I had the reload in chamber 15 and some other minor flubs but I played well enough everywhere else to the point where it didn't matter. Overall still a pretty good run though!
With the verification of this run on speedrun.com, I will hold all five category world records simultaneously!
Really great run until 19. After that the run started to fall apart. The lead was so great, though, that I was able to tank the time and finish off the run a couple seconds under the previous world record of 14:38.

Not a perfect run but overall I'm glad to finally have bested my old runs from over a year ago. The only real huge mistake was Chamber 15 where I unfortunately lost a decent chunk of time, and I didn't get doorlaunch in Chamber 10 first try. This could be improved into the 11:2x range.
After not playing for a while again, I beat my new hardest demon! This is a level I've always wanted to beat ever since it was first verified back in 2016 by Trusta.
This level gets a lot of hate: Sakupen Hell is known for being very inconsistent. The hardest part by far is the wave part at 15%, and you need to pass this part frequently enough so that you can get as many shots as possible at the 2nd hardest part of the level, the 30% wave. The non-wave sections from 39-80 are not as difficult but this area is still very choke-prone and it is definitely nothing to sleep on. It can be very frustrating to die in those sections because it feels like a wasted opportunity for the final part of the level, the 80% wave. This part requires you to basically match your excellent execution on the 30% wave since it is nearly identical in structure, and such a difficult section being right at the end of the level is a huge turn-off for a lot of people.
However, for the most part, I had a decently enjoyable time playing this despite my really unfortunate luck. I died 13 times on the last wave, much to my own frustration.
12,194 attempts. Super happy to have it done.
This run had very obvious mistakes in chamber 02 and e02. But for the first time in over a year, I managed to get my hands back on this record again! Very happy about that.
It won't stand for long, but I'm happy to have contributed to the cause.

This is a speedrun of the Portal mod "Rexaura" done in 9:48 without any restrictions. This beats the previous world record set over 6 years ago by one full minute. I learned this in just a few hours, using safer versions of the routes that a segmented run uses. While the early game was shaky and I missed a couple of save glitches, I'm satisfied with this run considering there is no competition.
In 2018, I completed the old, pre-buff date version of Cataclysm. For those who aren't aware, Cataclysm was initially uploaded in 2015, what people now call "old Cataclysm". In early 2016 it was updated, which added coins and buffed the level.
I didn't think much of the new, buffed version at the time, as I figured the buffs were anything but significant. I figured beating old Cataclysm was only very slightly easier than beating the buffed version. When I started really getting into this version, though, I recognized these buffs were considerable. Almost every single part of the level was modified to make timings harder and spaces tighter.
I did not get very lucky with this level at all, dying at the final straight fly twice and on the 64% ship probably a dozen times. This was a very painful experience, but because of that I'm extremely happy to have this done.
Attempts: 7,023
Cool run! A lot of new strategies were found since my last WR of 9:48 in this category, allowing this time to be way more achievable. I definitely think a 9:3x of some sort is possible and I am currently making that my main focus for this category.
My early game in this WR was not very good and I also messed up e01 pretty badly. Overall though, not a bad run at all, especially considering I missed door launch.
This level has always been very special to me as I remember playing it on my phone 5 years ago when I sucked at the game. I've always wanted to beat this, but never really had the skill until now. Died many, many times past 65% (hardest part is 60-100%), but thankfully the first 50% got very consistent for me. Finally beat it today after around 2,000 attempts.
Two months of active practicing, dozens of deaths past 70% and 16,000 attempts finally culminated in me completing my hardest demon level yet. Beating this was always on my bucket list for this game because of its significance as a milestone and iconic extreme difficulty. This was definitely a test of my patience, as I've never spent so many attempts on a single level before, but I'm very happy my persistence paid off in the end.
I was in a call with a friend while I was grinding this so that's who was in the background at the start of the attempt.
We got it! This was a good challenge. I didn't expect to get a 59 minute run so soon, so I'm really happy! I'll give this category a rest for now and switch to something else. I had a very loud reaction after getting this time, which I cut off for the sake of your ears.
