Black Sabbath's debut record would be released via Vertigo Records in the UK and Europe, and Warner Brothers in the United States. Released on Friday 13th, 1970, it would peak at number 8 some weeks later, officially launching Black Sabbath and Heavy Metal into the mainstream. Much to the surprise of Black Sabbath themselves. And although Ozzy didn’t know it yet, this was his first step towards becoming the prince of darkness. Between 1970 and 1978, Ozzy Osbourne would record 8 studio albums with Black Sabbath. Paranoid being one of the most well known, aside from the debut. And of course Sabotage, released in 1975 featuring Symptom of the Universe is another stand out record. Cacophonous Records is a British label founded in 1992 that around the same time had released a 7 inch single for Japanese Black Metal group Sigh and the album Decadent Delirium by a super obscure Death Metal outfit called Psychic Pawn. The Principle Of Evil Made Flesh would also be the first full studio album to be released on this label. A year prior to the release of this record we saw the third studio album by Type O Negative, Bloody Kisses. And some drew the conclusion that Cradle of Filth copied the album artwork, however, the artwork for The Principle Of Evil Made Flesh had already been produced before Bloody Kisses had been released.

He would use his own blood to write lyrics on his apartment walls and became a god-like figure for many of his followers. However, despite what most people thought was confidence, he was torturing himself at the thought of having to go on stage in front of thousands of people. With one show in Denmark pushing him to drink 12 bottles of wine in one night just to be able to deal with the pressure. By his own words, he says at times he thought he was truly psychotic. Seeing hallucinations of a black octopus emerging from his toilet drove him to smashing it to pieces with a sledgehammer. Type O Negative would become his outlet for everything he couldn’t deal with in the real world. He channelled his art, dreams, fantasy and demons into his music to create one of the most unique groups within the alternative sphere.

How Nu Metal Became Nu Metal RAWMUSICTV 2024-05-06 | Originally formed in 1993, Korn have and most likely always will be cited as the first Nu-Metal band with the very first Nu-Metal album. That would be their debut record in 1994, self-titled. The record was a commercial success and also helped to launch the career of one Ross Robinson. An American record producer that is often nick-named the godfather of nu-metal. Robison went on to work with the likes of Slipknot, Deftones, Sepultura and Limp Bizkit amongst others. If not for Korn though, we may never have even heard of him. Korn though wasn’t exactly ground zero for what we now know as Nu-Metal. The Chris Cornell and Chester Bennington Conspiracy RAWMUSICTV 2024-04-25 | On 11th September 2020, I produced a documentary on the late great Chris Cornell of Soundgarden and Audioslave. Almost one year later I then produced a documentary on Linkin Park, which naturally included Chester Bennington. A year later they would release Wisconsin Death Trip. They wanted to produce the record with renowned producer Terry Date. Who by then had already produced records for Metal Church, Soundgarden, Dream Theatre and Pantera. Date had also produced Prong's 1993 album Cleansing and White Zombies Astro Creep 2000, however it seemed the cost of Terry Date wasn’t quite within the budget for Static X. Instead they went with the next best thing, Ulrich Wild who had been Dates right hand man for some years, working on many of the same records as Terry Date. The members that would come to form one of Slipknot's first line-ups would also include musicians from various other bands in the area of Des Moines, Iowa, the bands official birthplace. #Slipknot #Clones Jim Root played guitar for Atomic Opera, Joey was destroying the drums for Thrash band Modifidious and Shawn Crahan formed Heads on the Wall, playing a mix of funk metal cover songs. Slipknot have become known for their now iconic on-stage imagery and outfits that consist of jumpsuits branded with a barcode, terrifying masks and instead of names, they all each have a number. And whilst each member generally reveals a new mask with each album cycle, the jumpsuits have been fairly consistent throughout the band's career. However, some would argue that Slipknot stole these ideas from another band that formed a couple of years prior to them.
