GT2 Intro Remake 2nd Project Sample [Assetto Corsa Footage]

RandomCarGuy17 2024-06-23 | After about a year after the 1st sample, I bring you a 2nd sample of my idea of Remaking the GT2 US Intro with Assetto Corsa footage. I started last year, forgot about the project and now have picked it up again. Though now I'm mostly done with the project.

I've been recording more replay footage and updating older footage where I was using a cursor to move the camera instead of the moving camera tool that actually existed instead. I also downloaded some replay camtools to help with tracks.

Notes:
- For the footage with the Shelby GT350 Mustang, I actually had to make new skins for the AC Legends GT350R. Because there were none that existed to my knowledge with regular stripes and instead only in racing paint schemes.
- I also did the same with the Cappuccino footage.
- The project is mostly done, but I still have to record footage for a few parts at the start, some 1st person footage of Laguna Seca, and re-record Alfa 155 Grand Valley footage.
- I'm re-recording the Alfa 155 footage as it's on the ACF Grand Valley mod and now I'm using the conversion mod LeanLauri made.
- When I finish this project, I plan to upload 2 versions of it. 1 version with the USA V1.1 intro and USA V1.0 intro. I'm more nostalgic with 1.1, but there's people that prefer 1.0's audio.
- Since I briefly mentioned it in a status post, I'm probably going to recreate the PAL and Japan version intros. Though keep in mind those aren't simple re-edits of existing footage as the Japanese intro uses a lot of different replay scenes the US intro doesn't use.

Gran Turismo 2 Early US Demo - All Idle Replays

- One thing that's constant in these demos are the tracks, they keep showcasing Seattle, Rome, SSR5, and Tahiti Safari Course/Dirt Route 3.
- The cars racing in some replays though aren't. In this early build, it's a S2000 being driven on SSR5 against class B/A cars. In a later build, it'll be a Peugeot 206 racing against Class B cars instead.
- On this build of GT2, Seattle Circuit has darker clouds.

Toyota GT-ONE in Racing Games [Remake]

Like with the 1998 R390 video, I wanted to just do this as the original video is as consistent with the quality and the way I do these videos now. Notes:
- The sound it makes in GT5 & 6 still sounds terrible, but at least it sounds great in GT7. So, PD redeemed themselves there.
- Test Drive 6 is absolutely chaotic and doing a clean run essentially felt impossible and after multiple tries; I gave up.
- Of course Test Drive 6 isn't the only game with chaos, Driving Emotion Type-S also brings some with 2 things that annoy me. The controls and the fact I can't seem to turn the music off all the way. The options menu wouldn't let me turn the volume down past 1, that was it and I can still hear the music.
- Driving Motion Type-S annoyingly has d-pad controls despite being a PS2 game, which came with analog sticks standard! and PS1 games at this point came with them standard.
- Forza Motorsport 1 had the 1998 Toyota GT-ONE instead of the 1999 model as a playable car. Which is likely why the 1999 GT-ONE in later games still has its model wrong, they just never bothered to fix this issue.
- Speaking of which, what I find odd is Forza Motorsport 2023/8 not having Esso decals despite GT7 being able to have them along with the 2 Project CARS games. I don't know if it's that it's more expensive to get the rights to use Esso than Exxon or what. Or they didn't feel bothered I guess.
- I was able to actually include footage of Toca Race Driver 1 this time, yay! I learned about a cheat generator made for the game, which allowed me to finally get the cheats I need to unlock the cars.

Notes:
- Runabout-2 had very annoying physics, the R390s both would oversteer just by tilting the analogue stick. Getting a clean drive was just not gonna happen.
- I had to spend some extra time on Forza Horizon 1 as it turns out I never collected the car in that game. So, I went grinding in one of the street race events.
- I wanted to record Touge Max 2, but I didn't have the car unlocked and while I did see cheats listed online to unlock all cars. They didn't work for me, I kept entering the same button combination and nothing resulted.
- Forza Motorsport's R390 Race Cars of course were inaccurate. They were using the 1997 shorttail body for some reason instead of the 1998 design. Despite having a road car model with that design.
- Of course the 1998 race car was represented better in other games such as Enthusia, Gran Turismo 2-6 (mostly), Automobilista 2, and Project CARS 2-3.

The Prize Cars in Gran Turismo 2 Project A-Spec [Version 1.1]

RandomCarGuy17 2024-05-13 | All of the new prize cars added in GT2 Project A-Spec on top of the vanilla game's prize cars, plus some of the regular game prize cars altered. I didn't go over every prize car in GT2 in-general since there's at least 2 other videos that did that already.

Now to explain this mod, Project A-Spec is a HUGE expansion mod of Gran Turismo 2 for the PS1 where new cars & events are added. Plus some other changes made to the game.

GT Leagues custom paint schemes in Gran Turismo Sport Vol.1

Within the mode was one cool feature with the opponents, they had custom liveries in some events. This video is going over some of the liveries I found when playing it, not all of them as apparently; there's a lot more than I thought.

Gran Turismo 6: All Single-Player Events [After All updates]

RandomCarGuy17 2024-02-01 | I wanted to just showcase all of the offline single-player events available in GT6 after all of the updates were installed. Also doing this while recording cars in this game for future videos down the line.

This video includes showing the regular events, the license tests, driving missions, one-make events, and special events.

Notes:
- The career mode leagues being named after license tests is a bit interesting, kinda makes the career feel more unified and structured this way.
- The license tests being required to pass before getting into the next league each reminds me of Sega GT 2002 & Online as they had a similar system.
- I like the driving missions including new types of missions such as fuel management along with drivng duels. The only issue is that there's too many.
- The license tests were easiest they ever been in my opinion, I found myself golding more of these without trying than any GT games in the past. Not to mention the shortest license tests at only 5 tests per license.
- S-League would be fine as a league, not so much as a replacement for endurance events. Polyphony should've included proper endurance events instead and just allow them to be savable like in GT5. Either that or allow players to adjust the length like in Test Drive LeMans or Race Driver GRID.
- Ayrton Senna Tribute was a nice challenge and tribute to the man, but I feel like this should've been available at launch since they were advertising it.
- Lunar Exploration is a unique addition to GT, I will say that as I don't think any other racing games had you doing driving missions on the moon. However, I being unique doesn't necessarily mean good. I think the time spent modelling the moon and lunar rover should've been spent on another track and car in their place.

Chevrolet Corvette C4 in Racing Games [REMAKE]

RandomCarGuy17 2024-01-18 | Remake of my videos showing the C4 Corvette in different racing games. This was another set of videos I wanted to remake as I've really not been proud of those videos overtime. Especially my work with the Corvette ZR-1, I completely left out PGR3 & 4 and I had the footage recorded for those games. To avoid confusion, I also decided to put the multiple variations of the C4 together in 1 video. The normal coupe, Grand Sport, and ZR-1, I've been doing this kind of thing in my newer videos anyway. Putting multiple trims/variations of the same car together.

Notes:
- In the 1st build Komputer gave me, the Diablo felt like it would struggle against other GT500 race cars, even with racing hard tires. Now though, it feels more balanced and can stand up against other JGTCs just fine.
- With that said, it can't quite keep up with LeMans racers though like the Mclaren F1 GTR or Dodge Viper GTS-R. Makes sense due to how it was in real life.

Trying to survive in the Mazda Miata JGTC! | GT2 Project A-Spec Gameplay

RandomCarGuy17 2023-12-15 | The Mazda Miata JGTC takes on some GT300 cars at Grand Valley East in Project A-Spec. One big, expansion mod for this legendary iteration of the Gran Turismo franchise! The official name for this car is the Kageisan Eunos Roadster, a NA Eunos Roadster (Miata) built to compete in the 1998 JGTC GT300 class. It also was apparently a hero car in an anime/manga series called éX-Driver.

Anyway, this seriously was a hard race to pull off a win with due to how underpowered this Miata was and just how tall the 5th gear is. It'll accelerate to 4th gear and then just do nothing on 5th. I messed with the gearing on this car for over an hour until settling on one setup. What helped in this race was that I could still get speed through drafting my opponents, but then the Miata would hit its limit near the end of the main straight. Though this is in-character for the real thing as the car was slow in real life.

To note: Rome Night isn't actually in this championship, I just used a track swap cheat to enable this car grid/track combination. The 905 feels suited for this course. You also may notice that it's not the Evo 2 905 from Gran Turismo 4, but rather the earlier 905. Which I think is better looking.

The First Gen Eclipse GSX in the 4WD Challenge | GT2 Project A-Spec

So, for people that don't know, there was a Mercedes-Benz C-Class Touring Car planned for Gran Turismo 2, but never got finished. Only the logo and string text were finished. I don't know exactly why other than assuming it was either time constants or licensing issues. The C-Class Touring Car is assumed to be the 90s C-Class DTM since the other DTM cars that did make it to GT2 were called Touring Cars.

Nissan R391 in Racing Games

RandomCarGuy17 2023-10-22 | Nissan R391 in Racing Games, the only 2 racing games I've seen on IGCD. Which is also why there's more footage of both games than I would typically do now. I figured I would do that to make up for the lack of games. The R391 was the follow-up to the R390 Race Car that Nissan entered in the 1999 24 Hours of Le Mans with. Now entering the new, LMP class that was added for that year.

Notes:
- I did a lot of retakes and re-records for this video, as now I was attempting to maintain 60 fps for my recorded footage. Also, I started on this remake a year ago with a different mindset from now, hence more re-records.
- Note that some of the games definitely aren't at 60 fps of course, but I mean that the I wanted my recorded footage to be that, if it makes sense.
- I don't recall doing any fps patches or hacks to any of the games I recorded, but I did do widescreen patches to NFS Most Wanted and Carbon.
- For NFS Underground 1-2, I used PCSX2 over PC gameplay as I honestly hate trying to run older PC games. It just ends up being so much harder for me to get games going than just getting them to run on emulators for the most part.
- As usual, I didn't show every game. Although, I feel that I got a lot of games here; I did skip portable games though except for GTPSP.
- Some games had bad driving physics & controls like the Touge Max games and Vanishing Point; hence the collisions in those. I just couldn't keep it clean with how haphazard cars drive in both.

Objects Popping In and Out in Forza Motorsport 8

RandomCarGuy17 2023-10-07 | When I'm playing Forza Motorsport 8, I noticed objects constantly rendering in and out of the scene when I'm looking around. I even saw guard rails and arches disappear as I drive up to or by them.

There were more issues I had that I didn't include like the road not appearing on some laps of a Catalunya race or another Maple Valley race having the bridge just not show up.
