Young children in pairs step up to the Pope and he takes each child and kisses them and appears to give them his blessing. Narration by Father Milton Walsh of the Archdiocese of San Francisco.

24:28 (TC: 01.24.28): Ws of the alter and the Communion administers lining up on the alter to assist with Communion. Narration by Father Walsh.
25:12 (TC: 01.25.12): Tilt down - folks in the audience receiving Communion.
26:35 (TC: 01.26.35): A priest giving Communion to members of the audience. Tilt down on the procession of folk including lay people who will give Communion.
27:17 (TC: 01.27.17): Orchestra leader wearing a white robe conducts the orchestra
27:30 (TC: 01.27.30): Pope John Paul holds the Host and prays before he receives Communion (given to himself). Narrator unseen states the Pope will be giving Communion to about 100 people who were chosen by lottery from each Parish.
28:00 (TC: 01.28.00): WS the orchestra.
28:07 (TC: 01.28.07): People lined up to receive Holy Communion given by the Pope.
28:43 (TC: 01.28.43): The Pope drinks from the Chalice. He gives Holy Communion to the Archbishops on the alter who assisted him with the mass.
29:59 (TC: 01.29.59): A priest hands out Holy Communion to members of the audience.
31:46 (TC: 01.31.46): The Pope leaving the alter to give Holy Communion to the chosen people who wait at the steps below the alter. People receive Holy Communion by the Pope one by one including two young women in wheelchairs.. Narration by Fr. Walsh and Fr. Aylward.
41:10 (TC: 01.41.10): Communion proceeding is done, Pope takes a bow and goes back to his chair at the alter.
42:02 (TC: 01.42.02): Male and female vocal leaders, Cantors for the mass, lead the song with their arms outstretched.
42:26 (TC: 01.42.26): The Pope sitting in his chair is offered a bowl by alter boys to clean his hands. They pour water over his hands.
43:47 (TC: 01.43.47): WS the alter., the Pope in his chair. Narrator points out the green banners around the stage that were made by the separate parishes to denote their own ministries, later to be flown from the lamp posts in the square at St. Mary's.
