What your Pokemon Scarlet/Violet starter actually says about you
updated
This was recorded before seeing the tremendous reception of the first video. We're going to turn Vanilla Duels into a series for y'all! Joe (the guy on the right) is not a performer, so we're working on his improv skills to meet the higher expectations of a larger audience. I will also continue the improvements made in editing these duel videos since I started making them last fall.
If you want more anime nonsense, we also dueled our way through the Battle City Finals: youtu.be/egBxDpB-sg8

It's been a long journey to reevaluate my relationship with Yu-Gi-Oh and find ways to enjoy it. If you have any interest in cosplay, I give it my highest recommendation! Good things come to people who bring their own fun to these tournaments. It was such an honor to bring joy to the subscribers and fellow Crystal Beast/Jesse Anderson/Yu-Gi-Oh GX fans who I met this weekend.

(oops, i forgot to make the upload live before sleeping)
We were admitted in groups of 24, because of Mario Kart World's new Knockout Tour mode. First they had us look at and hold the Switch 2; then pair up for some practice races; then do the big Knockout Tour; then 80 minutes to browse the "show floor". Lastly was 20 minutes with Donkey Kong Bananza.
They gave us lanyards with a stamp rally, but there was no need to fill all 6 spaces. Which was a relief because, while the demos were limited to 10 minutes each, I had to wait for most.

A compilation of some of the glitchy weirdness that always finds me when I play The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. Plus some discussion of figuring out how the game is programmed! Yes, I am VERY excited for Breath of the Wild: Switch 2 Edition!!!
The remaster also sounds like a good excuse to continue procrastinating playing TOTK... I still know nothing about the sequel! Don't tell me!

I intend to make these guides for every character/skill from Speed Duel: Battle City Finals... because I thought they would be quick and easy, but as usual, I kept adding more and more to this. Not just another in-character duel, but even a little Yu-Gi-Oh Abridged segment, something I'd never done before.

I do plan to make Let's Plays for more Switch games like Pokemon Legends, Scarlet/Violet, Zelda TOTK, and Mario Odyssey soon. I haven't bought many new games these days because I have a big collection already. So while I see what's good about Switch 2 not tampering a winning formula, I don't see what I'm supposed to do with it just yet... But maybe you're feeling hyped! That'd be cool!

I succeeded, but slowing down now is giving me whiplash. I still have a long list of videos to make, whether you've tuned in for Yugioh guides, Pokemon fashion reviews, video game songs, or my classic vlogs.
I have so many more thoughts than this, but I figured 12 minutes (as the edited version) was long enough. Feel free to ask me anything about content creation in the comments.
In this stream we grinded through the Platinum ranked ladder with the new Crystal Beast support, while also discussing how Duel Links has evolved over the years, and how it compares to the real-life Speed Duel format.

This is an updated deck profile / combo tutorial for Sapphire Surprise, the deck whose prototype once took me to the national championship. It combines Tri-Brigade and Albaz/Branded by using Crystal Beast and Springans engines... plus it works great with Horus and Diabellestar/Azamina. You can also take Nemeses in any direction you want, and Master Duel players still have Verte, Apollousa, and more. The possibilities are limitless! (But your Extra Deck is not.)
Huge thanks to everyone who encouraged me to take the YouTube thing seriously this year. With my challenge completed, I will no longer be pushing myself to meet weekly uploads, but I still have a long list of videos to make in 2025! Maybe I'll sleep in the meantime. Maybe.

EVERY CARD MENTIONED: duelingbook.com/deck?id=16623823 - Start here if building your deck from scratch. Pick what interests you and add your favorite staples. The deck can be whatever size you like because of the many searchers. The same spells can be used for either aggressive turbo plays or defensive plays, so what matters most is how you play the cards you've drawn.
There is of course more to Advanced Crystal Beasts than I could possibly cover here. You can check out my Master Duel streams for commentated duels in which I explain every play (and then hit the time limit and get really upset).
Quick Advanced Crystal Beast rulings:
- Advanced Crystal Beasts sending themselves to the graveyard is a continuous effect, which applies only if they are in monster form.
- A summoned Advanced Sapphire will be sent to the graveyard without being able to trigger its effect.
- You can activate Advanced Ruby's summon effect even if Advanced Dark is not in play.
- They will not be sent if they're being negated by CB Rainbow Dragon, Skill Drain, etc.

This time I mostly played Advanced Crystal Beasts, then after a tragical timeout WHILE ENDING MY TURN (AAARGH) I switched to Shinobird + Spirits + Dogmatika and somehow went on another winning streak.
Just a silly little replay of a Crystal Beast OTK against Snake-Eye + Fire Kings on Master Duel. This is a good matchup for my deck, but this one had that extra bit of weirdness.

In this stream I used Crystal Beasts and Advanced Crystal Beasts, with some Sapphire Surprise at the very end, against an endless stream of Yubel and Snake-Eyes. Watch as I pull off a series of 1000 IQ galaxy brain plays but then lose because I misread the last line of text on Ancient Gear Frame (who is no longer allowed in my deck). Someday I'll learn what I'm doing with those Ancient Gears.

Old advice is often based on outdated principals, but mathematical approaches may require more variables than we can account for. So ultimately, don't think about it too hard. There are so many viable strategies and so many ways to play them.

During the duels and after, we had a great chat about weird Yugioh decks for having fun on a budget.
... If it's not obvious, this video is a parody. I've had most of these jokes written since 2018, and on a whim decided to finally make it this week. Starting to dig deep for new ideas to keep these weekly uploads coming!

A surprise Yugioh guide! It's a Tanabata miracle! Why do I insist on doing this to myself!?
This deck pumps out a series of Ritual monsters. The Shinobird/Shinobaron engine blows away the opponent's cards and locks them out of monster effects. The Dogmatika cards discard their Extra Deck while paying for themselves with extra Arc Light searches. The Impcantations move things along while opening up access to more floodgates and board-breakers. For your build, pick whichever couple of engines look fun to you. It's a silly budget deck!
Spirit monsters are an obsolete gimmick of slightly overpowered monsters that returned to the hand during the end phase after being normal summoned. About every five years Konami prints new Spirit monsters which would not be good even if this was still 2004. They've now become intertwined with Ritual monsters, another obsolete gimmick, as a joke. Although these days Rituals have resurfaced with new designs which bypass the actual rules of Ritual Summoning.
