This routine consisted of several dances: Waltz, Viennese Waltz, Tango and Passo Doble. I knew nothing of Viennese Waltz or Passo Doble before this routine. There are a lot of rough edges but I think I did fairly well. I may have a higher quality video when the studios recording is released.
Next up... Chocobo medley???
Schell Games next title has you sneaking your way into a vampire lair and slaying the beastie without waking him up. An interesting tension building game but don't expect much action. I love these guys work on Until You Fall and the I Expect You To Die series. I hope this one lives up to their other games.
I had fun with it. Rumored June release date if everything stays on schedule.

Be careful when jumping off the bridge, don't walk off or you can die. You can also shoot the elite and have him teleport up to you as well if jumping doesn't work for you.

Trewel Towers was pretty fun but definitely needed more polish. I'm a fan of tower defense games and VR archery games. Loved the abilities. They were using Quest headsets so the tracking was not what I wanted and there were definitely issues grabbing arrows and ladders. Was an overall enjoyable experience and looking forward to the game releasing on Steam.

I've never watched Peaky Blinders so the fandom excitement is lost on me. However, what I saw what a pretty good quality game for the few minutes I got of it. The cast of the show is doing performance capture for the characters and it shows. The voice acting was great.
This feels like it might be a contender for VR GOTY when it releases.

Interested in the story so far. I do wish there was a bit more of it strung together but this isn't a story heavy genre so I'll take what I can get.
The NPC dialogs are interesting but I hope they don't get repetitive. We heard about the old mans date back to back on Chinatown. If I hear that dialog every single run, it's really going to grate on my nerves. That being said, the voice acting is really good. There's some lip flap that doesn't quite line up if you're looking for it but it's far from a major issue.
Visually the game is amazing. Comparable or better to Alyx. There's a nice variety of enemy appearances and as we saw at the end, higher difficulties offer even more variants. I believe I've seen 3 special zombie types at the moment and they're certainly miniboss title worthy opponents. Especially the grabber police a--hole. The Smasher makes for a great boss while also getting hounded by hoards of other Snowies. Environments felt large and lived in. Felt like we were really in the midst of some post apocalyptic town. I loved the mix of interior and exterior environments. My one concern here is that there are only 5 maps atm if I remember correctly. That could get repetitive quick but I expect it will take a decent number of hours to work up through 4 difficulty levels across all 5 maps. At about an hour per run, that's 20 hours to hit all maps on all difficulties. Well worth the price IMO. You'll also more than likely need to grind a little bit for gear or floppies and no one is going to play a perfect no failure game so that 20 is a minimum.
The available comfort options and options across the board are exceptional. Very happy to see this becoming more standard with AAA titles. The one critique here is that I don't think the game ever told you how to open the menu. I randomly discovered it. In a social game it seems very necessary to show the player how to invite and accept invites from players.
Speaking of players I loved the lobby. Everyone was silenced which was golden, but you could see others running around and going about their business. It was an unexpected and nice touch.
The crafting system is neat. Doesn't seem very deep but I like the ability to customize and dangling loot in front of my face will almost always work...
I have very little in the way of negatives to bring up about the game that aren't just potential fears about content or incredibly trivial. Population isn't a concern as the AI isn't terrible. This is what I expect from an experienced VR dev. Great work guys. 100% recommended. Pick this up ASAP. This is going to be a blast with a group of friends.

Beautiful, fun, makes you feel powerful. One of the best games this year! As long as they can keep up with what I've seen so far then this will be a great game, and after playing Wizards I have faith. Reminded me of a grim dark fantasy Alyx in regards to story delivery. I will probably stream this as soon as the embargo lifts.
I'll be honest. With the launch day embargo I was expecting a lot more issues with the game. And there may very well be farther down the road. This is just my thoughts after about an hour of play. Now, it wasn't perfect, but it was surprisingly smooth, polished and enjoyable.
There are some rough edges though. Loccomotion has its quirks. There's something up with walking in a straight line. I really hope there's a launch day fix for that. You do adapt but it's a bit frustrating and definitely immersion breaking until you do adapt. Even then in the middle of combat it's not what you want to be worried about.
We did hit a progression ending bug that we had to restart because of. The checkpoint/autosave feature was frequent enough that we didn't really lose any progress though. Hopefully that's not a theme moving forward, if it is, that's serious enough to wreck any sort of momentum the game might have on launch. Progression stopping bugs need to be an exceptionally high priority to fix.
There was some minor gesture issues. Which really surprised me from Carbon. I'm not sure if this is a gesture issue to be honest or an energy issue. When rapid firing the hand bolts, there were frequently times where I went through the motion and a bolt didn't fire. I'm not sure if this is due to an energy system I didn't recognize or due to the gesture not reading correctly. Either way I'd like a solution or to make the cause more obvious if it's a lack of energy.
That's about it for the negatives. Mostly minor outside of the quest bug. I loved the game as a whole though.
The game was beautiful. The environments and sense of scale was incredible. That magical blast that took out the giant statue. Amazing! I love thing like that. The teleport at the start? Talk about dropping you straight into some cool stuff.
The sounds, music and voice acting. So good. To me, it's the best when it fades to the back of your mind and you're not even really conscious of the music or the sounds, they're just there, setting the emotions and framing the scene. Wonderfully done.
Combat really made you feel powerful. The hand blasts are by far my favorite. Dragon Ball energy blasting fantasy overdrive here. Who wouldn't love to be able to spam blast lighting bolts out of their hands? All of the abilities I tried felt good. Some more so than others, looking at you chain lightning. To be fair I think I should be using that in an off hand while using a sword in my main hand. Looking forward to figuring out my preferred play style.
The story so far has me pretty interested. I'm calling it now that Nathan over there's gunna turn traitor on us. Just a vibe I get from him. I love how Carbon plays around with the internal monologue of your character.
The game just does a lot of things right. And I'd expect that from an experienced studio like Carbon. Very pleased and definitely worth the 29.99. Depending on the length of the campaign maybe even more. A polished title and definitely a recommended from me.

I would like the hand models to be expanded upon to implement more responsive gestures. Pointing, thumbs up, open and closed fist. The last one is there but it was kind of janky and not very responsive to me opening my hand. Full Index finger tracking would be ideal. I was expecting my hand to open as I reached for a lever and to close around the lever as I gripped and pulled. Seeing my hand remain a closed fist and pass through the lever took some getting used to as it initially feels like you didn't actually grab the lever.
Hand tracked locomotion. Give me locomotion options. In a game that has as much looking around as this game requires, head oriented locomotion is a no go for me.
The voice acting could have been better. Especially for the main character calling out things like night fall or a nearby extraction point. The ability to turn off or reduce the frequency of the extraction point call outs would be a welcome addition. They were more annoying than informative. Maybe they might be more useful in higher levels but atm they weren't helpful at all.
Some inclines are a bit difficult to start the hook process when you need to climb up. Getting pushed back when you lean over just exacerbates this issue. This is a hard issue to tackle and they've done better than I expected but it is still present here. It's much smoother than something like A Township Tales climbing mechanics but it's still an occasional issue.
Melee combat needs quite a bit of love as it's currently not very satisfying. All you really need to do is touch your weapon to an enemy. No real amount of force is required to swing at something
There are obvious EA bugs that I'm not going to really fault them for such as the wrist screen being janky or the lack of full turning animations for the tutorial spider boss. I'd like to see those addressed of course but they feel more like EA jank than issues. The same can be said for Quality of Life issues like inventory management or two handing your shotgun.
To the things I liked! The most telling is likely that I didn't realize I'd been playing for an hour and a half. I was straight up having fun and lost track of time. I feel like I've barely scratched the surface of the available content. I've hardly unlocked any recopies and only cleared two levels.
The scale and ease of getting lost is really impressive. It's so much easier to get lost than I expected. The size and scale coupled with the chaotic nature of the bean stalk and how you're climbing in circles to grab loot... You get quite flipped around and I loved it.
Feeling like batman! I loved the grappling hook. It felt so good.
The blade slammers worked wonderfully! One of the smoothest climbing experiences I've encountered. Overall smooth, responsive and natural to use.
The music was great. Certain bits with the harp felt very FF inspired which I love.
The graphical aesthetic and all the little details in the world were great. Especially your home.
I will definitely be playing this on stream and giving more feedback as I do. I love that they've considered streamers and have added a Twitch integration and I really want to try that out. More devs should put some time into this as streaming a VR title can be difficult.
I really enjoyed myself and can't wait to jump back in and start really making some progress. It's hard to say at the moment if $30 is a bit steep or not. I definitely think you'll get your moneys worth in gameplay hours but this is definitely an EA title with some EA issues. If you're not a fan of paid beta testing then you should likely wait but if you're ok and accepting of Early Access titles then this is definitely worth your time.

The actual mining, what the game is selling, was a bit frustrating and/or was pretty cheesable. Either I had to awkwardly whack the wall with the pick with some weird physics... stuff... happening or I had the super clunky sledge hammer that wasn't really usable without it freaking out. The other option was to thoroughly cheese it and abuse the physics.... stuff.... and one handed swing the sledge around like it was a nun-chuck and make quick work of any walls. None of that felt good.
Also, why does the elevator not go all the way down to the third level? Why not use stairs if the elevator doesn't function as an elevator? The crank was simply annoying too. Why not just make it a lever if it can only go down one level? There's no need for the crank tedium when I can just pull a steampunk looking lever and have it take me down to the next floor. Why? So many questionable design decisions.
If the base gameplay isn't great, the game at least looks and sounds good right? Not so much... Visually, the game was pretty meh. Especially the character customization. Pretty basic. Some interesting outfits but faces, hair and hats all clipping and fighting each other just looked bad. The textures didn't look too great either.
The audio was pretty rough as well. A can of beans shouldn't sound like it weighs 500 lbs when it hits the ground. There were a number of sound effects that just didn't fit their triggering action. The repetitive voice lines quickly annoy and provide no value whatsoever. Who even is that? Where is the voice coming from? Why is it talking to us?
The combat has to be good right? Right??? Enh, it was pretty basic and had it's fair share of issues as well. It was difficult to identify when you got hit and from where. There were a couple of times I was in danger and didn't even realize I was getting hit. At least death doesn't cost you anything. I seemed to spawn above ground with everything intact which is nice.
The most telling part of the playthrough is that by the end, I just wanted it to be over. I wanted to see the other site and how that worked but I just didn't want to go back into the mines again. I just wasn't enjoying myself. So, unfortunately this is going to be a pass for me.

Interesting but a steep learning curve.
There are a lot of similarities here between this and Phasmophobia, obviously. This does feel like a different game though. The objectives are different. The method of investigation is different. This feels more like a scavenger hunt or hide and seek than ghost hunting or detective work.
The traps are a great addition to the formula. I love that the environment is dangerous. It adds more tension in an otherwise safe part of the game. I do hope that there's a way to disarm them though as it didn't feel like there was a way to get past the snake trap. Definitely was screwed on that floor dart trap in the lit room. Not even sure what the trap was to be honest. This is likely my inexperience with the game.
Graphically and audio wise nothing wowwed me or sent me running. Pretty average here. The whispering could be a bit creepier. The fire breath wind blowing sound was probably the creepiest sound. The assets looked like they were store bought. That doesn't really bother me if the gameplay is well done. Phasmophobia did the same and it's success has given them the opportunity to update so, again, this doesn't bother me.
The game is Early Access and has room to grow obviously. I did have a couple of crashes but I think those were on my end. I believe my link cable is going. What is on the games end is that the headset losing connection appears to cause the game to lock up. I know some people with a wireless setup that frequently drop connection in Phasmo and then reconnect. I'm worried that that will cause issues here. The game does need to gracefully handle losing and reestablishing connection to the headset.
Outside of that, no real negatives here. The game is reasonably priced and I feel like I'd get just as much enjoyment or more out of this in MP than I did Phasmophobia purely due to the procedurally generated levels not getting dull. Though the scavenger hunt gameplay vs the detective/investigative style of Phasmo could make or break the game for some. We'll see how it goes in MP. Larger maps might also feel more investigative. Going to try and convince some others to play this on a Monday stream which are now happening over at Twitch by a majority vote in the Discord. Twitch won by a landslide too. So we'll see how MP works during the next stream!

There are a lot of similarities here between this and Phasmophobia, obviously. This does feel like a different game though. The objectives are different. The method of investigation is different. This feels more like a scavenger hunt or hide and seek than ghost hunting or detective work.
The traps are a great addition to the formula. I love that the environment is dangerous. It adds more tension in an otherwise safe part of the game. I do hope that there's a way to disarm them though as it didn't feel like there was a way to get past the snake trap. Definitely was screwed on that floor dart trap in the lit room. Not even sure what the trap was to be honest. This is likely my inexperience with the game.
Graphically and audio wise nothing wowwed me or sent me running. Pretty average here. The whispering could be a bit creepier. The fire breath wind blowing sound was probably the creepiest sound. The assets looked like they were store bought. That doesn't really bother me if the gameplay is well done. Phasmophobia did the same and it's success has given them the opportunity to update so, again, this doesn't bother me.
The game is Early Access and has room to grow obviously. I did have a couple of crashes but I think those were on my end. I believe my link cable is going. What is on the games end is that the headset losing connection appears to cause the game to lock up. I know some people with a wireless setup that frequently drop connection in Phasmo and then reconnect. I'm worried that that will cause issues here. The game does need to gracefully handle losing and reestablishing connection to the headset.
Outside of that, no real negatives here. The game is reasonably priced and I feel like I'd get just as much enjoyment or more out of this in MP than I did Phasmophobia purely due to the procedurally generated levels not getting dull. Though the scavenger hunt gameplay vs the detective/investigative style of Phasmo could make or break the game for some. We'll see how it goes in MP. Larger maps might also feel more investigative. Going to try and convince some others to play this on a Monday stream which are now happening over at Twitch by a majority vote in the Discord. Twitch won by a landslide too. So we'll see how MP works during the next stream!

I like the grim dark setting. There's definitely a Diablo feel to aspects of the game. I do see promise in the game but....
I wasn't as in love with the combat as I thought I would be. I'm hopeful that higher level enemies will pose more of a challenge and EA updates that add more enemies will bring more diversity to the combat. But specifically the attempt to make weapons feel 'weighty' just adds disconnect to what I'm doing vs what I wanted to do. I swing my arm too fast for the heavy weapon and instead of following the path my arms took it tries to straight line from where it is to where my hands are. This can cause what was supposed to be a hit into a miss. This will likely keep me from using any strength based builds whatsoever. It's also not really my preference anyway but still. Other games have done this better where you see a disconnected ghost hand for where your IRL hands are and your game hands follow that path attempting to keep up. IDK if adding more strength will minimize this but the base mechanic seems to need to be retooled a bit.
Throwing was a bit of a pain. There probably needs to be some assistance here. Throwing in VR in general is typically painful. To throw straight you had to throw at a 45 deg angle up which is harder than it sounds when your brain is telling you that's not how that works...
Archery felt good. Though there may have been some aim assist there. That headshot in the prison area didn't seem like it was my skill at all. Thoroughly expected to miss that not decapitate him.
I really liked the stealth crit hit mechanic but I wished there was more of a specific stealth mechanic. Some indicator that I'm hidden and correctly stealthing. From my point of view I'm just walking and clanking around in heavy armor according to my avatar.
Speaking of Avatars, I'd love to see some customization here. Especially in a MP game I feel this is necessary. I need to distinguish my identity from other individuals. I'd also like it if the gloves I was wearing were reflected in my avatar.
And using that to segue into the equipment screen, some work is needed here. I loved the look and feel. The interaction was a bit clunky and needs some smoothing out. Let me just grab items and put them in other spots. I'm going to want to reorganize stuff. It shouldn't take 2 clicks a grip and a release to sell something that could be a single grip and release. It doesn't sound like much but it adds up with a full inventory. Let me just grip and grab and if I let go while pointing at an inventory spot, put the item in that inventory slot.
I'd also like to be able to stow an item in my hand into my inventory without having to drop it and right stick click it.
The magic system is being reworked so I'll refrain from commenting on that because it did feel clunky and I'm glad they're redoing it. I also appreciate that they're willing to do that.
I did enjoy the puzzles that I saw in the second tutorial. The Indiana Jones pressure plate puzzle was good. Also a good MP mechanic. Hopefully we see more of that in the future. I do think having two tutorials that range an hour and a half is probably a bit overkill. This likely could have been whittled down considerably and approached much more like the second tutorial where it's delivered as your crawling through a dungeon so it feels less like wasted time and more like progress. I actually got something out of the second tutorial. The first was just kinda long and dull.
Overall I really need to see more to give a good recommendation to be honest. I see potential but this is definitely an Early Access title and $35 might be a bit steep for what's here. It does offer everything that it promises on the Steam page and I did spend nearly 2 hours playing and wanting to keep going so I will likely be giving it a thumbs up for now. However if you have issues with Early Access titles, you might want to skip out on this for a while until it gets some polish.

I would love to see some more dynamic elements such as storms or shark attacks. A variety in the gameplay anywhere would be nice. A threat to the player other than thirst and hunger would make the game more interesting for me.
There are some questionable decisions like having a player wait 2 minutes between deaths when there's only one player on the server or you don't have a bed yet. This decision boggles my mind and is strongly anti-fun IMO.
Overall though, it's a decent prototype for what could be a good survival craft game. There's nothing really bad or negative, outside of the death timer, there just isn't enough total game.
Unfortunately I can't really recommend picking up the game in its current 0.4.8 state. There just isn't enough to justify the cost unless you really like fishing up scrap.

I'm not going to do a full break down as the game is still in alpha states.
The gameplay was great. I loved the somatic components to casting spells. It's really taken what games like The Wizards have done with gesture based magic and expanded on it in a great way.
The abilities that I tried were wonderfully done and really empowering. Dual casting fire at a massive enemy and seeing them stagger back is a feeling you can't quite describe. You just feel, powerful. They've done an amazing job at tapping into the power fantasy.
Graphically I liked a lot of what I saw. There's definitely room for improvement in some areas but I have no real complaints. Same with the audio. Nothing stood out one way or the other.
I loved the amount of customization that was available in the options but I wish the options available were more descriptive.
We did see some bugs along the way but alpha is alpha and hopefully those are taken care of in the next year before EA release.
I had a blast. Definitely worth checking out and is now on of my most anticipated games of 2022.

I loved that there was a story element present. The crumbs you were fed were just enough to leave you curious and hungry for more.
Graphically the game was beautiful. I loved the art style and the obviously alien sky. The steampunk aesthetic came through loud and clear and it was amazing.
The audio cues were well placed. The Music was wonderful. That elevator ride up definitely had an epic feel to it with that music. No complaints here.
Really, no complaints at all. If I had to offer one critique was just that button placement next to the dial. I kept hitting the button when trying to turn the dial. Some of the menu interactions with the dial were a little quirky. Sometimes it would remember where my selection was, sometimes it wouldn't. Especially when unlocking those sub systems.
That's really it. The gameplay was fun and engaging. I didn't feel like I was in headset for over an hour. Time flew by.
Really the worth of the game will be in the longevity of the game and how many hours. This is potentially a significant weakness. I'm seeing people in other Steam reviews saying average 2-3 hours depending on skill level with one reviewer claiming a second playthrough only took half an hour. That may be a bit steep for some at 19.99.
If you're a fan of escape rooms, don't miss this one. If you've just a passing interest maybe wait for a sale. It was a lot of fun, but might be too short to feel like you got your moneys worth.
