I took my studio to the beach. Just an iPad, Ableton Note, and whatever sounds I could find around me.
I made a beat, recorded percussion using field recordings, added vocals with a lavier mic, and found a synth preset I loved straight from Note. Then I took everything back to my studio and finished the track properly in Ableton Live (using only Ableton's default devices).
This is proof that you don't need an expensive setup to start writing music. Sometimes the best ideas come from stepping outside your usual workflow.
