How to Destroy AFK Farmers | Risevania: Farmers Curse | Elden Ring (PATCHED as of 1.09-1.09)

RKirby808 2022-10-25 | There's been a noticeable decline in 'AFK' rune farmers with recent patches but whenever some random clickbait channel recommends it as an efficient rune farm (which it isn't) there's an uptick in these types of hosts. IMHO the majority of those who are hiding in these normally inaccessible places aren't doing it to troll invaders as I've only encountered two or three that were expecting me, excluding a few who I invaded additional times. These stance swaps will likely be patched out at some point in the future and hopefully by that time some solution to this Taunter's Tongue exploit will be implemented as well. In the meantime, the hammer airwalk gets you to the common locations these players are hiding in so you can remind them it's multiplayer PVP that they’ve challenged.

If you're in need of a lot of runes fast, know that the afk farm is only effective at RL 301+ where your opponents _can_ (not that they all will) drop more runes than some farms give in a few seconds. This is because hosts only get 15% of their opponent's last level up cost, for example a RL 100 opponent will drop 9039 runes because their last level up cost was 60265. The bird farm in Mohg's Dynasty (which can now be accessed without defeating any boss thanks to the npc patch 1.06 added to Varre's questline) drops 12K about every 20 seconds in comparison.

RKirby808 2022-05-14 | When I first tweeted about the AFK Rune farmers I had seen a small few who said they were confused and annoyed when they had their own pve interrupted only to be summoned to a host they couldn't find. So on one weekday I just let my character AFK in various places with the Blue Ciper Ring active. Out of ~30 summonings only 4 or 5 were to non AFK hosts; 3 of those were just gankers at a site of grace, and 1 was maybe playing the level but I couldn't reach them in time. While doing this I learned that where you are in the world is where your summoning will be restricted to, unlike the previous games, but annoyingly I only really got summons in Limgrave and Liurnia.

While I like the idea of the Blue Sentinels and blue spirits in general, having to frequently remove summon after summon after resummon (with no extra cost/risk to the host) while I'm an invader has created a great dislike of the feature for me. So in the few instances I am helping randoms I will refuse to help anyone unless they're continually progressing the level and without notably questionable phantoms/setups. If someone doesn't meet that small minimum I'll either; leave, drag nearby pve to the host, jump into a pit, help block the host into a space if I can, and now in the case of afk hosts I'll provide bolts/arrows to the invaders.

The ability has so many iframes and travels so far that someone who would normally get repeatedly roll caught ends up living way longer than they ever would have with just normal rolls. Unless they happen to be near a ledge and are not careful about their dodge spam.

Exploit AFK Rune Farm Hunting - Caelid | Elden Ring

RKirby808 2022-05-07 | Lenne's Rise in Caelid was easily one of the safest "AFK" rune farm locations when the trend started. Upon learning that the AoE on Lightning Greatbolts and Explosive Greatbolts can hit through the floor underside and walls it became realistic to eliminate hosts hiding at the top though. It was interesting to see how quickly these players abandoned the spot after a few invaders with minor preparation arrived, this place is also where I got the most preemptive disconnects if I started hitting too close.

After switching builds there were a few invasions here where I couldn't fully eliminate the host though. Generally it was because the host wasn't really afk, greatbolt carry limitations, and the host constantly getting more heals from anyone dying (absolutely broken design that the host get's a flask refill for THEIR summons dying btw). In those moments finding invasions was generally slow anyways so instead of finishing the job I ended up completely halting their rune farm for an hour or so by farming blues instead. Although most just didn't care at all about their host situation I did find a few who were chill and in one case when I gave a hunter some Lord Runes for their understanding they gave me back a stock of lightning greatbolts.

Some of you are probably wondering about the clip at the start and end of the video, where I float across the air. It's a stance moveswap, the same type you see a lot of speed/challenge runners using to skip certain areas of the game with, which I recommend looking up how to do from Dist's video about it.

To perform it you will need
- A weapon with a stance skill (the ashes of war "square off" and "unsheath" work)
- Marika's Hammer (others may work but I know for sure this one can clear the building gap)
- A compatible switch weapon (anything with Gravitas works as well as a few hammers)

Try setting up your inventory so the stance and switch weapons are next to each other, sort inventory by weight/ar/acquirement to help with this. Place the target skill weapon in your mainhand, the stance weapon in your offhand, two hand the offhand stance weapon and then
- Perform an action like an R1 or roll
- Press L2 during the action to buffer the stance
- Open your equipment menu
- Swap the stance weapon to the compatible weapon
- Close menu using the options button.

The slightly tricky part about clearing the building gap at Lenne's Rise is that you want to aim for the building's roof corner seen at 0:05 from about the middle of the tower's lower roof and WHILE the hammer is raised to HOLD your run button. Also be cautious to not have too much stray directional input while running because halfway through the weapon art there is a point where you can redirect the run.

Efficient AFK Farm Hunting - Liurnia | Elden Ring

RKirby808 2022-05-04 | Farming of any kind is generally better if you make optimizations for better and faster results. Why should farming the AFK farmers be any different? In the common lake area of Liurnia there's two rooftops that many were trying to camp. Instead of relying on a cannon and a few select angles (although I recommend bringing one regardless) you can use Mohgwyn's Sacred Spear if you're on a build with 24 STR, 14 DEX, and 27 ARC to get them off of the roof.

In my build's case I had to stat boost my strength with the Starscourge Heirloom talisman so that I could stat boost my arcane with the Grafted Blade Greatsword's unique skill. If the host is not partially at the controller they won't be able to react fast enough to the rapid damage and status proc from Mohg's unique skill and the few who end up surviving find themselves in a situation they're not happy with. If you want to further decrease their odds of escape you can also increase the damage by using Ritual Sword Talisman (provided you're at full hp), Shard of Alexander, and/or Lord of Blood's Exultation.

There's much better Rune farms and Rune Arcs are incredibly easy to come by just by playing the game, doing co-op, or invading. For those unaware, when a pvp opponent dies the victor get's a percentage of their opponent's last rune level up cost, invaders get 4% and hosts/summons get 15%. That in combination with rune level matchmaking limits (for invaders in the older games it was; lower limit = X-(12 + 0.1X), upper limit = X-2 + 0.1X) means that unless the host is rune level 150+ their rune drops are less than the basic mid/end game pve. In comparison an easy and very fast to loop bird in an optional area can grant you 13K before using rune boosting equipment, just to name one method.

Those who are AFK rune farming, an exploit where the host stands in a spot unreachable without Torrent (the horse) or map glitches before using the Taunter's Tongue, aren't really doing this exploit to gain a lot of runes rapidly. The videos that are showing large rune drops are just being dishonest about how much they get per hour or are already very highly leveled. For those unaware, when a pvp opponent dies the victor get's a percentage of their opponent's last rune level up cost, invaders get 4% and hosts/summons get 15%. That in combination with rune level matchmaking limits (in the older games it was; lower limit = X-(12 + 0.1X), upper limit = X-2 + 0.1X) means that unless the host is rune level 150+ their rune drops are less than easy to farm pve enemies.

Whenever I encountered an AFK player in the past games I would drop some prism stones, take a screenshot, send them the screenshot, maybe drop some random items like embers for them to come back to, and then just leave the world. Quite often I'd get a reply from it and usually it'd be pretty funny. Once this exploit get's patched (I'm confident that it will be) I'll return to doing that but for now I recommend bringing a cannon or ballista on every invader build (remember you only need 20/23 STR once you two hand it).

RKirby808 2021-03-26 | Wasn't exactly sure what I wanted to make my first build in the Demon's Souls Remake but I knew that I would eventually want to remake my build from the original game. Since I had no builds planned when I was surprised with a #PS5 gift during the holidays it just became my first build by default. If you don't count the SL1 run with no upgrades, projectile magic, or hyper mode that I completed on some livestreams.

After relooking at my original build though I knew I would want to make some minor changes. Mostly stemming from my original build having been partially made for Firestorm even though I never used it. Originally I had 24 VIT, 18 INT, 16 DEX, 23 MAG and the Black Boots. For the remake I dropped some stats a little, dumped them back into VIT, and changed the Black Boots for the Imperial Spy Leggings. This isn't a highly optimized build though as you could easily match its AR with a dragon infusion, start as a Temple Knight, drop the magic (keep Second Chance though), and be at SL52 instead of SL70.

Small underappreciated detail that I probably like the most about the remake, that the in game menu is much more responsive now. The original #DemonsSouls menu had a delay between every input which made it annoying and tedious to use in general, swaps were possible in it but they were limited and had to be nearly frame perfect. Whereas in the remake it's just as responsive as you'd expect, making even full armor swaps possible. Although visually, I think it lacks immersion and plays it too safe that it feels like the UI of a touchscreen device's OS.

I started making this video after I watched one of Burankee's ( youtu.be/gcrUtyhcdVY ) as it reminded me of someone I had invaded a long time ago during one of my livestreams. While I was disappointed in being called a hacker for simply backstabbing the host I can't say I was surprised given that it seemed like they had limited pvp experience, I was at SL 81+8 at the time. This video was largely an attempt to expand on something ProjectGoof displayed in one of his videos ( youtu.be/XHCm6mqLgI0 ) and focus on the backstab animation's lack of interpolation, while also discussing how to improve by looking beyond the montages.

Dark Souls 3: The Worst DS3 Player I Have Ever Fought (w/GGNoReee)

RKirby808 2019-02-01 | These invasions are easily the stupidest and longest set of invasions I have ever had. Prior to these my longest invasion was maybe twenty-five minutes long. The first invasion took 50 minutes and the second took 40 minutes (granted that some of it was sorta AFK). My average invasion nowadays is ~5 minutes long (including the time it takes to find the targets).

The whole endlessly running thing is just this host's bait to get people into doing the one attack type he can parry with his awful skill and terrible internet connection. My guess is that in addition to some extreme latency that he only had a 2 Mbps upload speed (I don't think it was WiFi, just every member of his household was watching Netflix while using Facetime and downloading music at the same time). Given that he was only doing turn and burns it's hard to tell but most of the time his attacks were hitting before the animation even started.

Had he not DC'd I'm confident that we would've seen that he was in the upper limit of my invasion range as an Aldrich, me being SL 35+4 he was likely between SL 58 and 69 using +5/6 equipment. Of course given that he instantly blocked me for winning I'll never get to know (he's clearly fishing for hatemail, so it's unlikely he's blocking messages from random players). I'm against sending baitmail to get a response but this was clearly a very special snowflake and had he not blocked me I would've merely sent "GG No Reee".

Dark Souls III isn't a bad game but a large portion of its user base are exploiting basic mechanics to "troll" others. We've all seen these same cowards; constantly relying on others to gank, only using builds that can kill in 3-4 hits, and always using every advantage possible to them. People complain that DS3 is a dead game, it's several years old now but that's not the real problem. The real problem is a lack of variety, every other invasion nowadays feels like I'm invading the same Bonfire Duelist Jobber that I did only moments ago. Meanwhile I keep seeing more and more random invaders being absolute PVE addons by doing nothing at all, or using a greatbow, until the host is fighting something else. The problem isn't the game, it's what's left of the larger community.

Dark Souls 3: Misplaced Honor (w/Commentary)

RKirby808 2018-11-24 | I see a lot of people complain about honor in Dark Souls but the amount of hypocrisy I see in relation to honor is absurd. What is honorable when it comes to Dark Souls PVP? Not drinking estus during a duel, not using healing spells in the arena, not using the hornet ring for crits, not hiding in the level to ambush the host, not relying on the pve, not being overleveled, not being ganked, not playing in a certain way, not being an invader? Where do you draw the line?

I've been invading for a while now and a few things are clear.
- As an invader do not expect honor, in fact expect the complete opposite. It is not uncommon to see the same person resummoned several times.
- Just because someone bows does not mean they have any intent to be honorable. I've been ganked several times by phantoms that bow.
- A solo host world with 2 invaders means they have a dried finger active (with exception to Crucifixion Woods and Gank City where it is 3 invaders). They either had phantoms or expect the challenge.
- You can still be nice during invasions even without being honorable. I've dropped plenty of new hosts embers and souls after fighting them a little.
- Those who whine about someone being dishonorable are likely used to only fighting a small set of the same people or have never PVPed before at all.
- Try to assess if a host really is new and in need of help before turning against your co-invaders.

Dark Souls 3: SL802 YOU WONT BELIEVE (w/Saltmail)

RKirby808 2018-08-10 | Everything wrong with Dark Souls III invasions can be found in pretty much any max soul level invasion at Gank City. From everyone being a Havel Monster Caster R1 Mashing Parry King Casul to the extreme levels of salt and let's not forget nearly everyone being a wifi warrior latency lord. A lot of these gankers honestly seem completely lost when their 7th Chaos Bed Vestiges or 4th Crystal Soul Spear doesn't work. Many of them lack proper basics and are highly reliant on running and resummoning (many will disconnect or jump off the map when they can't). Just remember, Gankers pay the price.

After my first two days at max sl I set a goal for myself to get a backstab with EVERY weapon and getting the backstabs was easy enough. Winning the invasion afterwards was sometimes tricky but still easy enough, I don't use clips in a montage if I lost the invasion in the end (this vid has 2 exceptions though; one involving a hacker/save edit cheater where I BCed at the end and the whip clip where I was goofing around with the host's fight club). What I did not expect was how hard and time consuming it would be to trim each clip, organize, synchronize, and fit each one into a video that is only about 5 minutes long (the sweet spot for crit montages, imo).

There are 174 weapons that are capable of a backstab (not including the whip joke); 13 Daggers, 17 Straight Swords, 16 Greatswords, 11 Ultra Greatswords, 15 Curved Swords, 5 Curved Greatswords, 6 Thrusting Swords (Rapiers), 8 Katanas, 10 Axes, 7 Greataxes, 8 Hammers, 14 Great Hammers, 16 Spears, 5 Pikes, 11 Halberds/Glaives, 4 Reapers (Scythes), 3 Fists, 3 Claws, 1 Torch, and then bare fists.

If you're the type of person who thinks backstabs ruin the game, I challenge you to try getting them consistently. I may get a backstab (most commonly a roll or pivot type) in many of my invasions but in Dark Souls 3 they take skill, with exception to a few easy ones where you just sneak up on someone. The next time you're fighting someone who is just spamming parries ask yourself if backstabs are still a broken mechanic. If you still insist that they're a broken mechanic I bet you're the type of person who relies on playing reactive only for every bonfire honor duel (your bow gesture is hollow and you know it). Also, R1R1R2 takes no skill, change my mind.

With this """""build""""" I can also confidently say that I have used every weapon in the game (with exception to a few bows, crossbows, shields, and spell catalysts) including a very large majority of the spells as well. I know this video only featured me getting backstabs with each weapon but I did legitimately use them up until I got at least one backstab with it. Maybe I'll make another video with the more interesting clips, I haven't really decided.

Dark Souls 3: Normal Max SL Invasions

RKirby808 2018-07-22 | I've been doing max SL invasions for a while now, montage video Soon™ (maybe... expect delays), and they're a perfect example of everything wrong with this game. These clips are a normal display of them, this is normal but max SL invasions are not normal.

R1 spam, parry spam, roll spam, Summoning Another Phantom spam, Chaos Bed Vestiges spam, Crystal Soul Spear spam, spell spam in general, weapon art spam, lagswitch spam, wifi spam, I cannot understate how much spam of all the things there is at this invasion sl bracket (SL 351-802). If the spam wasn't enough you have incompetent invaders, those who die in an instant, those who just run away, those who hurt you more than the gank, those who are just traitors, and even those who only use greatbows but never hit the gank with them. But wait, there's more at this SL. You have hosts and summons who are WAY more salty and are likely to disconnect, send hatemail, and all the other things that give this community it's overly toxic impression.

Overall I enjoy these invasions from their strange difficulty, the people here make crit fishing easy but you have to focus on surviving the waves of spam to get them. However, at the same time I hate these invasions like no other. Some invasions can end up going for 15-30 minutes purely from the host constantly running away and resummoning several times. Invasions/Duels just shouldn't last that long.

Did you know there is an item in the game that "restores the connection to other worlds"? What, You didn't? Well it's called a Way of White Circlet and it is meant to allow those who were penalized for "Acting without honor" to be able to remove their penalty once every 10-14 hours (in game time). If you know someone who has used this item at all please share the story of this one of a kind experience.

Dark Souls: Remastered - AFK Reverse Trolling (W/Likemail)

A lot of the Dark Souls community is toxic, overpopulated with half assed copycat trolls, and people looking to only press the win button right from the start. You often hear more criticisms than appraisals in many things, but why is it that searching for videos with likemail in the title turns up no results at all?

This is something that I originally started doing in Dark Souls 3 at the time of the Ringed City release ( youtu.be/YBfjKalYOhs?t=5m10s ) however my editing at that time was still very much in the learning phase, I was very hesitant to add any music, and I had forgotten to include a screenshot of the mail itself. Since then I've been unable to recreate the whole thing (particularly the mail bit). Once you hit someone to check if they're really AFK most people are not away long enough to take a screenshot, find them in PSN (this part is usually the trickiest piece), send them said picture, and then BC out without them ever seeing you. Some people might argue that I could use the the Black Crystal and then send it to them but that would remove the challenge.

As to why I started doing this, I just didn't find it enjoyable killing someone who didn't fight back. I'd already kicked enough AFK people into pve mobs and off cliffs. I'd also already poisoned as well as caused toxic to enough people (sometimes having to reapply it) and then watch them never come back before they died to their effects. So, I figured, how can I subtly mess with someone who might not return for a very long time without waiting around myself? The answer was give them a warning and get in their head.

Dark Souls: Remastered - A Message for New Players

RKirby808 2018-07-11 | A lot of new Dark Souls players look at invaders as just another enemy that they probably can't kill. Every enemy they approach they approach with fear and high uncertainty. Instead of embracing the phrase “Prepare to Die” they look at it as just another death in a likely long list of deaths. Some people go on to beat the game and never return, others become gankers, a few become the invader, and sometimes they become angry Reddit posters demanding the most unique feature of the game be removed.

When I hear the phrase “it’s like Dark Souls” the first question I have is how does the invasion system work and then moments later I am disappointed at the response as no other developer has made such a feature. Fromsoftware made this unique feature and while I didn’t directly enjoy it until Dark Souls III it was a standout feature that gave the game a very notable amount of depth over other games. Personally, I would love to see other developers attempt to implement a similar feature in their games just to have a point of comparison, new thoughts on how to possibly evolve and refine the formula, and to just have more variety.

To any new player, be it your first in the series or just in general, who is disconnecting when an invader arrives there are a few things you should know.
1st - Disconnecting too frequently will get you soft banned and unable to play online at all until a very large timer (days to weeks) expires.
2nd - When you die while an invader is in the world (even if it wasn’t the invader that killed you, even if they were no where near you) a cool down timer of several minutes is started and during this time you will be very unlikely to be invaded again. Specific actions, such as summoning a phantom afterwards will cut off several minutes from said timer.
3rd - Do not use the Dried Fingers item, it may allow you to summon an extra phantom but it also allows you to be invaded by 2 invaders at once. It also completely removes the cool down timer between invaders entering your world until you die or warp somewhere new.
4th - If you really don’t want to be invaded at all the simplest solution is to play offline or never go unhollow.
5th - Dying in this game may feel cruel but know that you really shouldn't place as much value on acquired souls as you probably do. Leveling with souls you gather by just going through an area isn't too difficult until you pass SL 100 or so (and there are plenty of areas that you can farm in if you need to). The game's difficulty is more about learning animations and possible weaknesses.
6th - Level up Vigor, I cannot stress this enough. You will not dodge every attack, you will get hit (in pvp and pve). Having high damage output and low hp will only be beneficial if you play perfectly, we're all bound to make mistakes, plan accordingly.

If you must play online than just take the time to understand how and where you’ll be invaded. If you’re the type to say that you just want uninterrupted co-op with your friends than I implore you to question why you’re playing a game known for it’s difficulty in the first place when what you really want is clearly just an easier game. If your summons put in more work than you did, just who among you beat the game?

Also, as a side note, I don’t like setting up ambushes but if I see an opportunity to ambush someone in the moment I'll likely take it. However, if I see just a lone host fighting npc enemies I'll generally wait until they kill said pve. This isn't something I do out of honor, I invade looking for a unique kind of challenge and using pve support is something I don’t like relying on. It’s invasions like the one in the last clip though, where I wait for the guy to kill the enemy while staying out of the way only for him to DC, that a lot of other invaders will take any opportunity to attack.

Dark Souls: Remastered - Just Saying Hello

RKirby808 2018-07-09 | I've been wanting to use a washed-out color LUT again as well as jazz music in general for a while now. Something about jazz music is hard to tie to Dark Souls fights for me though, I found a few energetic songs that would probably work for my purposes really well but they're absurdly long (10-20 minutes long) so I always feel like I would need to theme a whole long format video to that one song. While cutting these clips out of the first day vid to save on time I just had a random noir reference in my head for whatever reason and just a few days prior found a few mellow jazz songs, so by happy accident I was able to accomplish two very random editing goals.

My original intent in using the Hello Carving was to alert the hosts that I was nearby, let them have a chance to cure their toxic buildup, and heal before I fought them. It only became following them around while spamming the carvings when they just ignored it.

Dark Souls: Remastered - My First Day of DS:R Invasions

RKirby808 2018-07-07 | In my last seriously edited video, I said that I was unlikely to buy the remaster until it went on a heavy sale. Kurtis ( youtube.com/channel/UCMyiFbUxr71sGDF8szxvAkQ/featured ) heard this and gifted me a copy so I could join the pvp while it is still active, go give him a follow if you haven't already. I still stand by what I said of PVP balance though; backstabs are too easy and just don't feel as earned as they do in DS3, magic is interesting but massively overpowered (with too many oneshot and spam possibilities) and with questionable hitboxes, and gankers have notable advantages but to make matters worse spawn camping turns an invasion into a stupid joke (at least randomize the spawn points, add in extras, or give us enough spawn invulnerability to move around a little). The unintended tech and such may add to the depth of the game but it also highlights how broken the game really is (especially since a lot of the tech is inconsistent with notable latency).

All the invasions in this video were done on a Twitch stream on 2018.06.06 and were, as the title suggests, from my first day of doing DS:R invasions. I was unable to get any parry equipment swaps on my first day but I did start to get them on my second day (video coming Soon™... maybe). More surprisingly for my first day though was that I ran into zero Giant Dads or Oroboro/Brandon Falchion/Curved Sword R1 builds, this however changed for my second day as well. Overall I feel like the invasions in DS:R are very similar to max SL bracket (351-802) invasions in DS3; they have a lot of spell spam (people just use all their casts and panic when it doesn't work), a lot of running in circles, co-invaders often have no friendly fire disclipine and die super quickly, and the gankers that ALWAYS taunt ALWAYS run away forever (or disconnect) when their summons die.

My personal biggest nitpick though is HUD scaling, I like the small menu scale but I just can't read a player's name or their health bar (I only really care about the health bar of what I'm locked onto) without really struggling when it is set to 0.65 (ideally, they would let us scale these two elements individually). Also, why is there no Auto HUD option at all?

Not sure how long I'll stick to DS:R invasions but they are fun in their own way despite the flaws. Plus, I do like overcoming the flaws as an overall challenge.

Dark Souls: Remastered - Backstab Test Ver. Montage

RKirby808 2018-05-18 | I originally intended to make a somewhat shitpost with the "They Don't Stop Coming" remix song where it just loops that part of the song with these Dark Souls: Remastered Network Test clips. However, as I was working on my much more time consuming DS3 SL 802 video and wanting to take a break from that while still experimenting with a few effects I considered a somewhat more serious approach for this video. When I was making song considerations I had the song by Charbeats in my playlist and thought it was very fitting for a DS1 montage so I changed plans (hence the unintended delay).

My thoughts on the Remaster are very much in line with what I expected and as such not really worth $40 for me, especially considering that back in the day I spent $80 on the collector's edition and another ~$15-20 on the Artorias of the Abyss DLC (Dark Souls 1 has taken enough of my money already). Although I didn't really delve into Dark Souls PVP seriously until DS3 I don't think I am missing much by not visiting DS:R at launch. That being said I still am interested in playing the game in 4K resolution so if I find it later on at a highly discounted price I'll likely get it then.

In terms of PVP balance, I think the video speaks for itself but it is my opinion that backstabs are way too easy to get in the original Dark Souls. I didn't even use the parry cancel chaining tech that pretty much guarantees another backstab at wakeup either (although I did try to do so for a little while at some point). Each clip in this video is a unique backstab/parry/etc, there are over 100 full clips in the video, they all have backstabs in them, and are an invasion I won (I don't use clips of lost invasions unless I was impressed by the opponent or if it’s to display the loss for video tension/comedy/etc). In actually going through all the invasion clips I got, all gathered during a livestream on my Twitch channel, I found that I actually only had 10 clips where I didn't get a backstab. I am not the best at pivots either, those who are will certainly gank spank with tremendous ease.

And for anyone who might ask, this was on the PS4 version of the network test running on a PS4 Pro.

DS:R - Hot Fisting Action (Raw Clip)

This was my favorite fight during the Dark Souls: Remastered Network Test. Unfortunately, it is too long to efficiently edit down and I feel like just using a backstab/parry from it wouldn’t be the right thing to do.

I have no idea who this player was but when I saw the weapon put away I was game for a fist only fight. Of course, I suspected that he/she might toggle back to the Black Knight Sword after landing a parry but that happily didn’t happen. What I wasn’t prepared for was backstabs only doing 5 damage, parry ripostes only doing 7, and the timing awkwardness of actually parrying a fist. The parry spam early on is evident that it took me a while to figure out the proper timing to parry a fist, while later on it’s more because my opponent was adapting and changing their attack pattern.

Whoever this player was, GG this silly fight was a lot of fun.

Demons Souls: Private Servers - Play Online Again (UPDATE: Read Pinned Comment)

If you missed the oppurtunity to play DeS online before the official servers were shutdown or if you just want to play DeS online again then news of fans creating private servers is probably as exciting for you as it was for me. Anyone unfortunate enough to run into the stuttering issue while playing online, like I did on several occasions, will be happy to know that these servers should prove to be more reliable as they currently are being actively maintained.

🗺 Cross Region Restriction - Read Carefully

Although these servers now allow you to play cross region between account types (US, JP, EU, etc) it seems that they are unable to play between the different versions of the game. Demon's Souls was published by 3 different companies; Atlus for North America, Sony for Japan, and Bandai Namco for Europe. At the startup of the game (and on the box/disc if you have a physical copy) you'll see the logo for one of those three companies, this is the version you have.

People who have an Atlus copy of the game are unable to play with people who have a Bamco or Sony version, those who have a Bamco copy are unable to match with Atlus/Sony people, etc. From what I've seen most people have an Atlus copy as a result of it being the only type in the US and a European grey market that imported them instead of ordering the Bandai Namco versions (likely due to costs).

- From the PS3 home menu
- Go to: Settings
- Go to: Network Settings
- Select: Internet Connection Settings
- Select: Custom
- Select your connection method (Avoid WiFi if you can, as it can be notably unstable)
- You can manually set the different options or just leave them to auto/default
- At "DNS Setting" select Manual
- Enter the Primary DNS of the private server (see below), Secondary DNS can remain as default
- Manually set or leave remaining options to auto/default
- Start game and enjoy

RKirby808 2018-03-23 | Although the build is decent at occasionally causing bleed it was much harder to proc it at Gank City. Not because people had higher resistances to it or were significantly better at dodging but rather because more people ran for long periods of time or just had several more phantoms in the way. It's hard to say if anyone noticed the bleed bar and were concerned about it given how often I spent chasing people this time around. Not surprising that I spent more time using the Katana for chasing them down.

One thing I didn't really try (in an actual invasion) that might be worth considering was using the Frayed Blade WA to quickly build the bleed bar to almost the halfway point (where it usually gets to for medium armored opponents) and then swap to the Carthus Curved Greatsword, by the time bleed procs they'll probably be low enough on health that it will likely finish them. I suspect that if they aren't concerned or paying attention to the meter that they'll bleed very quickly and if they do notice it might be a little more panicked than usual.

Dark Souls 3: Carthus Curved Greatsword Invasions (Luck/Hollow/Bleed Build)

RKirby808 2018-03-10 | While using the blood infused Carthus CGS I was able to proc bleed on a notable amount of people but I found that the hollow infused version was better overall with this build. Ultimately this was because bleed damage for most people was only a little bit more in value than a R1 from the hollow version. Where it was clear which one was better though was seeing an average of 100ish less damage from the blood version. On a weapon that is relatively easy to dodge lower damage is a horrible trait. The hollow version is even more versatile as you can switch between Carthus Rogue which provides nearly the same bleed value, or a damage buff resin/bundle for extra damage.

Something that was notably surprising was the crit value of Frayed Blade was notably high and did more damage than the hollow Carthus CGS, with the only exception being if I had buffed the Carthus with a gold pine bundle before the riposte.

Dark Souls 3: Carthus Curved Greatsword Duels (Luck/Hollow/Bleed Build)

RKirby808 2018-03-10 | There's only 1 parry equipment swap in this vid, it's at the end as that's when I got it and if you just want to skip to that go to 33:00

In arena this build is unlikely to cause bleed due to the slow swing speed making it difficult to proc it fast enough and also because most people won't have a large enough health pool to live through enough damage before bleed proc occurs. If you did want to bleed someone using this build in arena your best bet is using the Frayed Blade weapon art that does multiple slashes. You could also remove all the extra stat investment in strength past the requirement for the Carthus Curved Greatsword and place them in luck, the damage on Frayed Blade will notably suffer but you'll be able to build up bleed a little faster without losing too much AR on the CGS.

Wish I didn't swap to katana for Sol Glacies but it's the first time I've had a katana on a build and I couldn't resist, that nomal halberd is pretty strong.

This was a very sloppy invasion for me, especially once I saw the tiny damage as being a good opportunity to practice this silly technique/skill. Despite being a bit of a parry king I got the helmet swapped to the mimic at the end.

Sorry for the recent lack of uploads, between various things I have just been struggling to make the next set of videos as well as making time to stream. However I have more than enough clips so it's mostly just a matter of selecting which clips and music to use now and I will try to stream again soon.

Dark Souls 3: Backstab Versus Lagstab (Commentary w/Hatemail)

RKirby808 2018-01-04 | Backstabbing in Dark Souls 3 is viable, if you know the mechanics and when to go for them. However, as people commonly don't understand the mechanics it seems like most people assume that an individual is hacking, lagging, or in some way is cheating.

Just like any other game when advanced techniques are used it's usually just skill and practice; fighting games people complain about certain combos, shooters people complain about no scope snipers, racing games people complain about racing lines. Although some people do cheat in some games, it is closed minded to just assume they are cheating.

If you want to become better don't just look at a questionable moment or a horrible loss and try to displace blame, not unless it is widely abnormal and suspicious. Look at the match and try to figure out how they did it, even if you have no intent to use the techniques yourself you'll often find that knowing how some techniques are done will often save you from falling to them repeatedly.
