Top 10 SWITZERLAND Places I traveled in 2024

Djemo Graphic 2025-01-25 | Traveling across Switzerland for the past 5 years and even in 2024, there were many new places to discover! In this video, I present you the TOP 10 Switzerland places, I have visited in the year 2024. Some places might be new to you, thus, let yourself being inspired for your upcoming Switzerland trip. Lenzerheide is a Winter village in Switzerland, popular for skiing but also great for light festivals or night sledding. The Zauberwald is a light festival held within an enchanted forest full of beautifully lit up sculptures. The lightride is the real-life version of Mario kart, a colorful toboggan run and a must-try for action lovers! The Rhinefalls are among the most famous waterfalls of Switzerland. Normally during Summer, they do not have too much water, in June 2024, however, there were severe floods and the Rhinefalls were absolutely spectacular. The amount of water was absolutely incredible, which attracted numerous visitors. The Sitterschlucht in Appenzell is a secret tip on this list, a beginner’s canyoneering trail within a gorge along a calm creek. Even during peak season in Summer, the Sitterschlucht will not be full with people, thus consider going there. The exact location is on Pioneer Maps (get the “Pro” expansion). Saas-Fee/Saastal is a fantastic region for hiking, especially during Summer and Autumn. During Autumn, there will be less people but that’s just perfect to enjoy the serenity. Hiking was great at the Mattmark dam and Kreuzboden. The views were spectacular and the shine of the turquoise water stunning. A great and cost-effective place to stay is the Hotel Kristall-Saphir in Saas-Almagell (sponsored content). The 1st of August is the Swiss national day. Festivities are held everywhere, specially great however is the parade in Champéry. The festive atmosphere in the village is absolutely incredible, endlessly decorated with Swiss flags and a joyous parade crossing the village’s alley. The Schreyenbachfalls of Glarus are quite unique. Not only is it a uniquely beautiful waterfall, no, the waterfall is only visible for 45 days a year! This makes it imperative to travel to Glarus during July to see one of the most wonderful waterfalls of Switzerland. The waterfall can be combined with the scenic pass road called Klausenpass. Quite a discovery was the upper part of the Val d’Hérens. A very scenic hike from Ferpècle up to the river delta and the glaciers is one of the best secret tips for people who love it more quiet up in the Alps. A visit to this place is not only going to give you the peaceful mood, it’s also free, except for the transportation costs (fuel or bus ticket). Toggenburg is one of the most beautiful regions in all of Switzerland. I witnessed one of the most beautiful views up on the Chäserrugg and Hinterrugg, a perfect panorama with the Churfirsten, lake Walensee and the Alpstein mountains with the Säntis. Down at Unterwasser are furthermore the Thurfälle, which easily belong to Switzerland’s most beautiful waterfalls. The Lauterbrunnen without tourists can be found in Unterschächen. The valley also has plenty of waterfalls, but is considerably greener and rawer. A very scenic hike takes you through the valley along the river to the cabin station to access the Sittlisalp. This is one of the best places to be visited up on the Alps. It’s very peaceful up there, and you will be among the locals only. Please do NOT PROMOTE this place on SHORT VIDEOS, to keep the place serene. In Ticino, one can find some of the best swimming places out in the nature. There are over 100 fantastic spots to take a bath in natural pools, rivers or beneath waterfalls. These spots will be uncovered in upcoming videos for channel members.

In there, you can enjoy anything you would cherish about a holiday up in the mountains: Fantastic panoramas over the summits of the Swiss Alps, seeing the Matterhorn that is one of the world’s most iconic mountains, a beautiful village with traditional houses, a scenic train ride, hiking trails, skiing and wellness hotels. Zermatt is a car-free village and only can be reached by train. This makes Zermatt more enjoyable to explore. The most famous attraction of Zermatt is the Gornergrat. To go up there, you will be first enjoying a very beautiful 40 minutes’ train ride, during which you get to see the Matterhorn from various angles. Up on 3100 meters, you will arrive at the Gornergrat at where you can see a beautiful panorama over some major summits: The Matterhorn, Dufourspitze, Monte Rosa, Allalinhorn and the Kleinmatterhorn. Since you visit the Gornergrat, consider going for sledding and hike down to the Riffelsee. Another important panoramic lookout point is the Rothorn. This is the cheapest summit you can visit in Zermatt. The Rothorn is great due to its perfect frontal view over the Matterhorn. In general, it’s less busy than the Gornergrat. You may also get out at Sunnegga and hike down to Findeln, a very beautiful small village. This trail is also open, even at bad weather conditions. The Kleinmatterhorn is the highest station in all of Europe and certainly a very special attraction of Switzerland. You will be very close to the border of Italy, you get to see the Matterhorn from the side and you can look down to Val Aosta and the smaller summits. The Kleinmatterhorn is on 3880 meters, the air up there is thin. This is a very unique experience to be up there. Even more special is the large glacier cave called Glacier Paradise. In there, you may see various ice sculptures that are typical for the canton of Valais and Switzerland. Always enjoyable is to explore the village of Zermatt on a walk, this is even nice during snowy days as well as dusk and the night. Best is to stay overnight in Zermatt, if you can afford, stay at a wellness hotel and enjoy the whirlpools. A great alternative for bad weather days would be the hiking trail from Furi down to the village of Zermatt. It’s open on a daily basis during Winter and pretty cheap, as you only need to pay to go to Furi. Zermatt is more than only seeing the Matterhorn, it’s a perfect Winter Wonderland getaway.

Djemo Graphic 2024-11-10 | Where to go in Winter in Switzerland? These are the Top 10 Winter Places to be visited for the year 2025. Switzerland is a perfect Winter wonderland during the cold months of December, January, February and March. The Alps will mostly be covered with loads of snow and many great attractions can be visited during this season. Engelberg with the famous mount Titlis is absolutely worth a visit. It combines everything one would like to do who never has experienced Winter. Mount Titlis is on 3000 meters, the view is absolutely spectacular with the panorama of the snow mountains. The access up there requires 3 gondolas, the latter one having a rotating cabin. For families, there is a fun activity at the middle station for snow tubing. During January, the nights are still long, this is the month of light festivals that start usually around 6 pm and invite families with kids as well as young adults and elders to witness the colorful light shows. Prominent light festivals are held in Lucerne (LiLu), Lenzerheide (Zauberwald) and Murten (Light Festival). During December, there are the many Christmas markets that invite everyone to experience the magical spirit of the festive season. In every major city, there are Christmas markets, some small villages also host markets but only on few days. The Lauterbrunnen Valley is absolutely dreamy when there is a lot of snow. Lauterbrunnen is a pretty frozen Winter Wonderland, the waterfalls looking like giant organs with their many icicles. Mürren and the Schilthorn are other important places to be visited. Mürren is one of the most beautiful Winter villages and the Schilthorn is a prominent summit that was featured in James Bond. Champex-Lac is a hidden gem, a wonderful lake on a higher altitude. This is the perfect Winter wonderland for people who want it more quiet. A walk around the lake takes roughly 1 hour and is considered very light. The Matterhorn Gotthard Bahn is the cheaper and more frequent alternative to the world-famous Glacier Express. The train departs in Andermatt to Visp and passes the valley of Goms with its many beautiful villages. The Light Ride in Lenzerheide is one of the most fun toboggan runs of Switzerland. It is often described as Mario Kart real-life, the rainbow boulevard in a Winter Wonderland. The course is really fun and a perfect activity for adults and kids. Zermatt is the town with the many pretty views over the snow-covered Swiss Alps. The Matterhorn is the most prominent mountain of Zermatt and in all of Switzerland. Zermatt is perfect for anyone who loves going up to the summits and is considered a tourist hotspot in Switzerland. The famous places to be visited would be the Gornergrat, Rothorn and Kleinmatterhorn. Leysin hosts one of the coolest tobbogan parks in all of Switzerland. This is another adventure and fun attraction people visit during the Winter season. The park, however, requires reservations and the time is limited to 2 hours. Glacier 3000 is one of the most beautiful panoramic lookout points in all of Switzerland. This attraction is a bridge that connects two summits and offers you a 360° panorama over the Swiss, French and Italian Alps as well as over Lake Geneva. Djemo Graphic 2024-10-26 | Switzerland got many Christmas markets, probably over a 50, maybe even more than 100. But where to go? Which are large enough to experience a lot and among those, which ones are actually really beautiful. In this video, the Top 5 most beautiful large Christmas markets are being presented. A must visit is Zurich with its many Christmas markets. The Christmas village at the Bellevue is the most prominent among these markets. Very nice is also a visit to the Christkindl market at Zurich main station, a classy Christmas market with a glittering Christmas tree in the center. Smaller markets around Zurich can be found at the Werdmühleplatz, Münsterhof, Niederdörfli and the Grossmünster. A highlight and quite of a different market is at the national museum called Illuminarium, it’s a very colorful and modern market at where people gather to have foods and mulled wine. Lugano’s Christmas market is not among the most popular but definitely a great experience for a visit. The old city of Lugano charms with a very rich Christmas lighting decoration, especially the alley at where the Christmas stalls are located at. At the piazza, there is a giant Christmas tree and you can watch beautiful street acrobatic performances. The Christmas market of Bremgarten is the largest one in all of Switzerland. Bremgarten has a beautiful medieval old city that is perfect for hosting a Christmas market like this. Bern has three major Christmas markets, the Stärnemärit being the largest one. The Stärnemärit invites people with its beautiful lightings, plenty of stars are decorating the entire market. The Stärnemärit is modern and hip, there are many foodie stalls around, artisans have only little presence in here. A highlight are the two Christmas fairies that entertain the visitors. Basel is the most beautiful Christmas market in all of Switzerland, it was even voted the 2nd most beautiful one in all of Europe. Basel feels like an openair museum due to the many stalls being uniquely decorated. Definitely a visit to Basel’s Christmas market needs enough time as there are plenty of stalls that sell beautiful artisan goods and other Christmas gifts. The market is held at the Barfüesserplatz and the minster square.

GOTTHARD SWITZERLAND Road Trip - Tales and Military Facilities

Djemo Graphic 2024-09-22 | The Gotthard Pass is one of the most famous roads in the Swiss Alps. It connects the cantons of Uri and Ticino. If you did not know, Switzerland is perfect for one day road trips, certainly this road here at the Gotthard Pass is. The passroad starts in Amsteg, but even before that, there are a lot of attractions and things worthy to see. The first stop is at Brunnen, the lookout with the view to Seelisberg and Lake Lucerne. For the next stop, one of the hidden gem villages of Bauen shall be explored. It’s a humble village by Lake Lucerne that charms with its many palmtrees and serene atmosphere. Bauen is quickly explored, half an hour should be fine. Before ascending the passroad, also go for a quick stop at Flüelen, another small village by Lake Lucerne with a beautiful pier. Then, the passroad to the Gotthard begings: Take the old road by exiting Amsteg and do a quick stop at Intschi, to watch the trains crossing. For next, at the Schöllenen canyon, you may see the devil’s bridge, that was according to one of the most famous Swiss tales being constructed by the devil himself. There are more things, the Suvorov monument with a giant cross being engraved into the rock, one of the Russian monuments of Switzerland; then, there is a formerly secret military tunnel that is now open to the public, it allows you to cross over to get really close to the waterfall. Before heading to the hospice of the Gotthard pass, take a right turn to ascend the plastered road, which gives you a more nostalgic feeling. The Gotthard pass on that day was full of snow, one of the most unique looks I have ever seen this place at. The lake at the Passo del San Gottardo was partially frozen, having some arctic vibes up in the Swiss Alps. The Tremola pass road down to Ticino was closed, but still you could access a tiny chapel that is actually another Russian monument and probably the only Russian Orthodox chapel of Swiss-style architecture in the Alps.

Djemo Graphic 2024-09-14 | Autumn is the season of colors. It’s the time when the green leaves start to turn yellow, orange and red before they eventually fall. This happens during October and November in Switzerland. The Top 10 Places to be visited in Switzerland during Autumn are different kind of places that people would see during Summer. The Crestasee is a hidden gem in the village of Flims in the Canton of Graubünden. It’s a small lake that remains rather unknown up to this day as its bigger brother the Caumasee is a lot more famous. The Crestasee can be best reached by mountain bike or else by hiking. The vineyards of Ligerz along the shore of Lake Biel are a true gem of nature. The area is perfect for hiking and in particular very beautiful during the later afternoon when the vineyard leaves start to glow in their golden color. The raw and mystical valley called Val Bavona is a perfect place to be visited during Autumn, even when it rains! There are many small villages with traditional stone houses The villages of Foroglio, Sabbione and Ritorto are certainly worth a visit. With the many colorful leaves of the trees and the stone houses, the Val Bavona is absolutely beautiful during Autumn. Autumn is a very festive season with a lot of traditional events being held. They mostly all take place during September, there are wine festivals, autumn festivals and alpine descents (cow parades) that are held everywhere across Switzerland. Alpine descent is the time when the farmers bring back their cows from the Alps. The Berschnerfall is a wonderful waterfall in the canton of St. Gallen that is embedded into a colorful forest, and thus a perfect place to be visited during Autumn. The waterfall can be reached by an easy hike, once arrived there, there might be many falling leaves. The Val d’Hérens is one of the most beautiful and hidden gems of Switzerland. During Autumn, the colorful forests at the lower altitudes and the many larches at the higher levels invite you to explore the best of Fall season in there. See the pyramids of Euseigne of the bluest of all blue lakes the Lac Bleu of Arolla. A very charming hike through a miraculous and colorful forest can be done at the Gorge de l’Areuse in the canton of Neuchatel. The hike is very scenic, there are many colorful trees, waterfalls and great photo spots. The hike is easy and free, perfect for budget travelers. The Lake of Saoseo is considered the most beautiful lake to be visited during Autumn Season. This lake is incomparable. The striking blue color, the green spruces, golden larches and snow mountains match just perfectly. The lake can be accessed by a 2 hour’s hike or by public bus. The bus however only uperated until the third weekend in October. The Albula pass is one of the most scenic pass roads and very beautiful when the larches glow in golden color and the entire landscape is blessed with fresh heavy snowfall. The pass road leads along the Swiss train line of the Rhaetian railways. Along the passroad there will be very beautiful impressions with the trains crossing the bridges as well as many beautiful spots at where the golden autumn meets the Winter Wonderland. The Lavaux is the most beautiful region to be visited in Switzerland during Autumn. The vineyards will glow in golden color and nicely contrast the blue lake Geneva and the snow mountains of the Alps. There are many villages to be visited like Epesses, Saint-Saphorin or Rivaz as well as the Château de Chillon. The most beautiful time is during sunset, lake Geneva is just perfect for that, the vineyard leaves will first glow in golden color and then shine in a striking red tone.

Alphorn Guiness WORLD RECORD Switzerland 2024 Klewenalp

Djemo Graphic 2024-09-08 | After more than 15 years, numerous Alphorn players from allover Switzerland and various other countries gathered up on the Klewenalp in the Canton of Nidwalden. They gathered to aim for breaking the World Record of the largest ensemble of Alphorn players from 2009 up on the Gornergrat, where over 366 Alphornplayers were making music. On the 31st of August in 2024, originally more than 555 Alphorn players were aimed to gather, it happened that a lot more people came and in the end 1006 Alphorn players made it to the Klewenalp. This is almost threefold of the previous record. The concert of Alphorns took more than 5 minutes and was approved by Guinness Book World Records to be valid. Thus, Klewenalp Switzerland holds now the world record of the largest Alphorn Concert of all time!

Waterfall Mania in Switzerland: Swiss Road Trip

Djemo Graphic 2024-09-01 | Switzerland is the kind of country that is perfect for one day road trips. With the many lakes and the Alps, this country has numerous routes with breathtaking views. One of these amazing roads is connecting the canton of Uri to Glarus. This video is the sequel to the previous Klausenpass episode. The trip here start from the hospice of the Klausenpass, involving all nearby sites in the canton of Uri and especially Glarus in the Linth valley. The passroad heading down to Glarus looks dramatic with the massive mountains and steep rocks and is certainly very eyecatching. There are numerous waterfalls on this site, even at the upper part of the pass road. The first stop is in the village of Urnerboden, which is the largest Alp of Switzerland. At the village, you can buy local alpine cheese from local producers as well as trying various diary products, hams and saussages. The village is also quite nice, especially the bottom part near the church and the river section. Further down the road when entering the canton of Glarus, there is an amazing waterfall called Berglistüber that shall not be missed. It’s only 3 minutes away from the parking lot and what is very unique about it is that you walk behind the waterfall! Further down in the Linth valley, there is the Schreyenbach waterfall that you only can see on 45 days per year. This is because the hydropower plant further up will use the water that otherwise feeds the waterfall. Heading towards the city of Glarus, there is another very eyecatching waterfall called Diesbach fall. The waterfall is around 5-8 minutes from the parking lot and also easily reachable. As a last stop, the village of Luchsingen is also very much worth it, there are a lot of beautiful houses that are very typical for the canton of Glarus. In summary, too many waterfalls to see on the Glarus site of the Klausenpass, all of that can be easily done in one day.

Amazing SWISS Alps ROAD TRIP – From Uri to Glarus – Klausenpass

Djemo Graphic 2024-08-25 | Switzerland is the kind of country that is perfect for one day road trips. With the many lakes and the Alps, this country has numerous routes with breathtaking views. One of these amazing roads is connecting the canton of Uri to Glarus. The trip starts in Altdorf Uri and first leads you to the village of the Swiss national hero William Tell, to Bürglen. It’s a small, cute village with some nice houses and an iconic church and chapel. The road further heads up towards the Klausenpass to Unterschächen. At Unterschächen, one may want to visit the very popular Staubifall, but let’s go a bit more secret by exploring the other side valley called Brunnital. The Brunnital is basically Lauterbrunnen without tourists. You will be within an amazing steep valley with plenty of waterfalls on the left and right. The valley is totally serene and considered one of the most beautiful ones in all of Switzerland. Leave the car in front of the valley and hike all the way to the cabin station to access the Sittlisalp. The hike is easy and takes roughly 20 minutes. Up at Sittlisalp, you will be in true Switzerland wonderland, an Alp that feels like a true fairytale. There are cows everywhere, the creeks are running, everything is green and there might even be some snow up on the summits during late Spring, early Summer. At the Sittlisalp, you will be in a very serene, peaceful corner of Switzerland, totally worry-free. Taste the local cheese of the Swiss Alps and try some other specialties containing swiss milk. After a visit to the Sittlisalp, head up to the Klausenpass. That is considered being one of the most beautiful passroads of Switzerland. The road is a bit narrow at times but absolutely breathtaking. Because there is a lot to see, the video about the side on Glarus will be published as a sequel.

GOUFFRE de Padirac: The Cave of WONDERS of FRANCE

Djemo Graphic 2024-08-16 | This is the real-life version of the cave of Wonders of Aladdin. Dive into a miraculous environment underground inside a giant cave that is a true gem of nature. This cave feels like the real-life version of Aladdin. It’s very long and tall, there is even an underground river and various lakes. Maybe the magic lamp is inside one of these lakes. This cave lays in Southwest France in the département du Lot in Padirac. The cave is within a region full of gems, Rocamadour is not far away. The cave is called Gouffre de Padirac, and can be accessed by walking down a long stairs into a giant hole. The cave is more than 10 kilometres long, there is an underground river that is even longer than that! The cave can be accessed by walk, you will have to then go for a short boat ride to reach the main part with the lakes, the miraculous cave and a long stairs, exactly as it is the case in the movie of Aladdin. This cave is great to be visited during any time, unless there is heavy rain fall, then it is closed. You will have to pre-book your visit and be aware that you only can stay there for 90 minutes. This cave is absolutely worth a visit, it is probably one of the best ever caves in the entire world. It can be best combined with many other great places nearby in the département du Lot, such as Rocamadour, Saint-Cirq Lapopie and various other caves.

The MOST beautiful FRENCH Village? ROCAMADOUR

Djemo Graphic 2024-08-09 | This is a one of a kind village: Located beneath a rock, this village has a very unique appearance and been admired by many visitors. This village looks like it was from a fairytale, maybe it is the town of the Beauty and the Beast. No doubt, the majestic appearance and location make Rocamadour to one of the most beautiful villages of France. This village has a turbulent history, it’s been important for Roman Catholic Christian pilgrims, because of the church that is said to be built on the ground of a chapel established by Zaccheaus, who came all the way from the Holy Land to this place. In the medieval times, a corps was discovered by the chapel that was then believed to be Zaccheaus / Saint Amadour. The original chapel was destroyed during the reformation, the church looted during the French revolution and Rocamadour became relatively unimportant. However, in the 19th century, today’s church was built in here and Rocamadour again attracted numerous pilgrims. While the religious pilgrimage is declining in today’s times, Rocamadour became a magnet for tourists. Numerous visitors come to Rocamadour as it is said to be one of the most beautiful French villages. Rocamadour attracts tourists due to its unique location, its look and the medieval vibes. The village remains up to this day pristine, the medieval vibes are omnipresent, making it a true joy to explore Rocamadour. Besides, the department of Lot does offer many more beautiful places to be explored, Rocamadour being a perfect base for traveling to the nearby attractions.

Toggenburg SWITZERLAND - Unexpected Jewel of the Swiss Alps

Djemo Graphic 2024-07-27 | For once, it’s not me who decides where to go, instead my camera man Bleon chose the places to visit. We went to the beautiful region of Toggenburg, going to explore waterfalls and the nearby summits to get a spectacular view over the Churfirsten mountains, lake Walensee, the Swiss Alps, Alpstein with Mount Säntis, and also lake Constance. The tour was a beautiful surprise, I have never been to this region, but I always wanted to visit the Thurfälle and the lookout up on the Chäserrugg and Hinterrug. A beautiful region for people with a smaller budget.
It's very easy to go there. You will have to travel to the canton of Sankt Gallen to the region called Toggenburg. Most of the attractions are concentrated around Wildhaus and Unterwaser. The first place is in Unterwasser. You may park there and then follow the hiking trail to the waterfalls called Thurfälle. The hike is very easy and only takes 15 minutes. The waterfall is unique as you can see it from a cave and from above. Then, after visiting the Thur waterfalls, go to the funicular to access Iltios to take the gondola / cabin ride up to the Chäserrugg. The Chäserrugg is one of the Top 10 summits of Switzerland and one of the 7 summits called Churfirsten. The view is absolutely insane! You may see the Walensee lake, the swiss Alps, the green grass fields everywhere, and you will have the impression that you are in the Dolomites.

Ticino OR Valais SWITZERLAND: Where to travel? [Full Guide]

Djemo Graphic 2024-07-22 | How to choose: TICINO or Valais? Both cantons are nearby, they share some similarities but otherwise are very different from each other. Now where to travel to? Based on various categories and the advantages and disadvantages of either of the cantons, you will then know where to go to. Valais is French- and german-speaking, Ticino is Italian-speaking. Ticino is mostly warm and sunny during summer but also often dry. In Valais, it is also often sunny and hot but you easily can escape the heat by going higher up to villages above 1500 m. Valais has the higher mountains, you will still be able to see snow on the summits during Summer, while in Ticino, the mountains are lower in general. Ticino is a perfect place to go to swim in the nature and seeing waterfalls. You can do the same in Valais but there are less opportunities. The cuisine of Valais is known for its outstanding fondues and raclettes, while Ticino is mostly famous for its polenta and cold platters. In Valais you will dine often in a chalet, in Ticino at a Grotto. Ticino can be accessed from the Nufenen / Novena, Gotthard, Lucomagno or San Bernardino pass road during Summer, in Winter the only options are the tunnels at the Gotthard or San Bernardino. Valais can be reached from the west, north and east from Switzerland. Valais is in general easier accessible, during Summer there is a direct connection to Ticino but that one is not open during Winter. Ticino has 3 major cities – Lugano, Locarno and Bellinzona – with beautiful old centres, while in Valais the nice cities are Sion and Brig. In Brig there is a big castle, in Bellinzona there are 3 castles to be visited. Lugano and Locarno are by the lake, which is why these cities are charming as you can stroll along the lake promenade. In Ticino you furthermore can access the nearby summits to oversee the cities, in Valais this is not possible. Valais is famous for its glaciers, there are many of them that can be visited during all year, in Ticino there is only one glacier. Valais is great to be visited all year, Ticino is predominantly a Summer destination.

Zermatt or Saas-Fee Switzerland: Where to travel?

Djemo Graphic 2024-07-07 | How to choose: ZERMATT or SAAS-FEE? This might be tough, because you might not be able to visit both of them, which means, you need to decide for one of the places. Zermatt might be more famous but the choice is not that easy just based on that. There are multiple things that speak for either of the places. The principal mountain at Zermatt is the Matterhorn, which is certainly eyecatching and a landmark of Switzerland, the Allalinhorn is beautiful but obviously not as unique as the Matterhorn. Saas-Fee however has a lot of glaciers, which really makes this village attractive, not only that, there is also an ice pavilion that is larger and a bit nicer than the one in Zermatt. The village of Saas-Fee is not as crowded, which makes the place overall notably cheaper than Zermatt. Due to Saas-Fee being less touristy and smaller, the village feeling in Saas-Fee is definitely better. Zermatt is a hiker’s paradise, from pretty much everywhere you can see the stunning Matterhorn, in Saas-Fee the hiking experience is great too but not as exciting as up in Zermatt with the lakes and the Matterhorn reflections. In general, Zermatt offers the more stunning view points than Saas-Fee. Both places are known for their outstanding hotels, they are equally good, but the ones in Saas-Fee are a bit cheaper overall and not as quickly fully booked as in Zermatt. Both places are great for skiing. Saas-Fee is less busy, more snow sure but does not allow you to cross over to Italy, also the ski resort is notably smaller.

AUGUST in SWITZERLAND: Too hot? Too crowded? Summer Travel

Djemo Graphic 2024-06-28 | August is one of the Summer months, the weather in Switzerland is going to be warm during that time. In general, August is a great month to travel but there are some things that are important to be kept in mind. August is during peak travel season, and because of that, traveling will be rather expensive during this month. There will be a lot of tourists coming from everywhere around the world to visit Switzerland, the hotspots will certainly be very crowded. Pretty much all of Europe is on Summer holidays, which is why everybody is traveling. The weather in Switzerland during August will be mostly sunny and the temperatures in general above 25°C. Although there is a lot of sun, the weather will be not always nice, it may rain and there might even be floods. Since everything will be open during August, there are certainly enough attractions to be visited, either outdoors or indoors. Since August is a Summer month, the landscape will be lush green, however at times if there have been droughts, the grass may turn yellow and some of the trees may already start to loose their leaves. Nevertheless, despite that, August is a warm and great month for swimming, especially out in the nature. Some of the most beautiful swimming places with clear water would be in the Swiss Alps. Although looking like a paradise, the clear water may be cold with temperatures of only 11-15°C. Overall a very sunny month with long daylight hours, August is perfect to go for hiking up in the Swiss Alps. There will be only little snow and pretty much all of the trails are open. There are also many waterfalls to be visited that may be still quite powerful. August in Switzerland might be expensive and crowded and at times hot, but overall it’s really great to travel around during this season!

The SMART Way to PLAN your SWITZERLAND Trip: Choosing destinations

Djemo Graphic 2024-06-22 | Most of the people do not properly plan their Switzerland trip and end up traveling around instead of actually experiencing the country. It is important to choose the destinations in a way that the itinerary and travel route make sense. With poor planning, you will end up traveling crisscross around Switzerland instead of minimizing your travel time and maximizing your experience at the attractions. It is very common that many visitors try to see everything, which makes them rush from one place to another, sacrificing much on the experience in each place. Thus, it is important to plan with less and enjoy more at each of the places. Sometimes, it also makes more sense to stay more than 1 night in the same place to skip checking out and in again. Staying in the same place allows you to do short excursions to the nearby region. Here, do not do any excursions to places that are very far: e.g. do not travel forth and back from Interlaken to Verzasca and back again. If your trip is short, you can visit less places, minimize the travel time and focus on one region instead. If your trip is long, you want to explore more regions of Switzerland. Also make sure that you plan your trip according to your interests and not what other people have done before. A great practice is to shortlist your destinations by seeing what experiences you can combine in the same place: e.g. in Thun, you can enjoy a beautiful city with a lake and a stunning alpine panorama, while in Zermatt you can see a nice village, get breathtaking views and go for hiking or visiting glaciers.

Switzerland during JULY: Peak Holiday Season!

Djemo Graphic 2024-06-15 | Everything you need to know about traveling during July in Switzerland. July marks the peak of Summer. The weather will mostly be sunny, although there are days at where it is going to rain. It will be warm to hot, 25-35°C, droughts are expected for certain years. Since it is going to be warm and mostly sunny, almost all attractions are open: you can go on almost every hiking trail, all attractions up in the Alps can be visited, caves, lakes etc. Everything whatever is not limited to Winter activities is basically open. The landscape will be lush green, the hills, the forests, the grass, the colors are striking. If there is a drought, the hills and grass fields might turn yellowish. As it will be very warm in July, you can go swimming and bathing out in the nature, in the lakes, creeks, rivers, pools. The water temperature may vary depending on where you are going to swim. Usually, the pools and lakes are the warmest. During July, there is barely any snow as it is going to be hot. Above 3000 meters however, one can still see some snow, if June was cold, there is even snow up on the pass roads. All pass roads will be open during July, which offer easy access to the different parts of Switzerland. The pass roads furthermore offer traveling through some of the most beautiful landscapes of all Switzerland. Since it will be warm during July, it is also a great idea to visit the various waterfalls. Most of them will be powerful and thus impressive to see.

BEST Mountain View of Switzerland! Between the Alps and lush green Hills

Djemo Graphic 2024-06-01 | For a GOOD reason this summit is considered the BEST MOUNTAIN TOP of Switzerland. From up there, you will be able to enjoy a fantastic 360 panorama over the Alps and the flat lands of Switzerland. The summit takes roughly 1 hour to be accessed either by cabin or funicular. You either may start your journey from Lucerne to Kriens and take the cabin or travel from Alpnach taking the steepest funicular in the entire world! Going up to the summit of Mount Pilatus is certainly a very exciting journey. Up on the summit, you may go for lunch, have a picnic, enjoy a breathtaking view or even go for a hike. There are two great lookout points, one at Pilatus itself from where you can see the Vierwaldstättersee (Lake Lucerne) and the fore Alps that just start in there: Mount Rigi, Mount Bürgenstock and even the Fronalpstock. You also may see the Bernese Alps. The other summit, you can visit the mountain cross, get a great view over the city of Lucerne and the flat lands of Switzerland, the area which is the most populated in this country. There is also a unique church that is just beneath the summit, hiking down is possible. Up on mount Pilatus, you should stay for at least 1 hour. The best times to visit are during clear blue sky Winter days when there is a lot of snow, April to see the contrast between the snow mountains and the green hills or during Summer, when most of the snow has molten.

Best SECRET HIKING Trail in PERFECTLY raw Switzerland – Swiss Alps on a Budget

Djemo Graphic 2024-04-20 | Who does not love hiking? In this video, I introduce you to one of the best kept secrets of the Swiss Alps. This valley is incredible: You have the perfectly raw Switzerland up there: lush green grass fields, cows, the sound of the cowbells, a lake, beautiful traditionally swiss houses and view up to the peaks and down to the valley. In this valley, you can enjoy Switzerland on a budget, the hiking is very cheap and you are going to be only among few visitors. The cabin costs less than 10.- CHF, the parking is free, what more? The entire hike to the lake takes around 30 minutes, another 10-15 to go around the lake and then another 30 to reach again the cabin. The hike is easy, even for beginners and families. Sometimes it’s just better to come to these places, enjoy the real Switzerland among the Swiss instead of being among loads of international travelers. The valley is great for taking many beautiful photos and views. People keep praising this village being the most beautiful one in all of Switzerland, but in fact Lauterbrunnen is not. There are many more beautiful villages in Switzerland, Lauterbrunnen is just a favourite among tourists, many keep just repeating it. If Lauterbrunnen was the most beautiful village of Switzerland, people would be spending a lot more time in there, which they do not. There are many reasons why Lauterbrunnen is beautiful, but they are not enough to make it the number 1 among the beautiful villages. Lauterbrunnen is very touristy, in particular during Summer, the road is very busy, plenty of cars are passing and this makes Lauterbrunnen not to a tranquil village, which the winners of the yearly contest actually are. Lauterbrunnen was never voted the most beautiful Swiss village, even the locals do not claim their village being the most beautiful. Lauterbrunnen has a great hype and performs very well on Instagram, which makes it being a hotspot in Switzerland. Because most of the tourists do not visit many places in Switzerland, they end up saying Lauterbrunnen is the best village of Switzerland. There are many more. I do not say Lauterbrunnen is not beautiful, I love Lauterbrunnen, it’s a nice village but I came to the conclusion that it is clearly being overly hyped, the village itself is alright, the location at where the village is at however is fantastic.

Easy ZURICH BUDGET Tour Summer Switzerland

Djemo Graphic 2024-03-31 | Zurich is expensive to travel but here is my EASY BUDGET TOUR! You will be surprised but Zurich can be explored on a budget, some attractions are very cheap, others are even free. In other countries, you might have to pay for such attractions, but not so in Zurich. Explore the world’s most expensive city on a walk, on a boat and on a funicular. Take the Polybahn from Central up to ETH Zurich to access the Polyterrasse. The Polyterrasse is the best view point in the centre of Zurich. Also visit the hall of ETH itself, famous scientists including Albert Einstein have studied here! Continue to the Niederdörfli and explore the alleys of Zurich’s old city. Visit some of the houses of famous writers and politicians and then proceed to the Grossmünster. The Fraumünster is one of the most beautiful protestant churches in Zurich, there are the Chagall windows that are world-famous. Some of the guild houses can be visited, however please do that with moderation. Must-see alleys in Zurich are the Augustinergasse, Neumarkt, Rindermarkt and Rennweg. These alleys are very picturesque. Then, go to the Storchen to take a boat to ride on the river Limmat. Get out at Zürichhorn and visit the Chinese garden that is a free attraction in expensive Zurich. This tour takes an entire afternoon. More can be added, shown in my previous Easy Zurich budget tour video. Zurich requires 1 full day to be explored. One does not have to necessarily stay overnight in Zurich.

Verbier: BEST 360 Panorama in Switzerland! Breathtaking Swiss Alps and Zipline

Djemo Graphic 2024-02-09 | The best 360 panorama of Switzerland and the Swiss Alps is not in Zermatt, not in Interlaken and not at the Titlis. It’s somewhere at where you would not have thought to look at. I came here for the first time in 2021 during Summer and went again during Winter. The panorama is fantastic, you can see the Matterhorn, Dents du Midi and the Mont Blanc and of course more peaks of the Alps in Italy, France and Switzerland. The Mont-Fort is among the cheaper attractions of Switzerland, it costs you not even 100.- CHF to go up there. You will need to take five cabin rides, starting in Bagnes, continuing to Verbier and then up to the Col de Gentiannes to access the last cabin ride. Believe it or not: the highest located Zipline of Europe is at the Mont-Fort. You will have a thrilling adventure of sliding down over 1400 m length. How cool is that? The panorama at the Mont-Fort is brilliant, the place is less crowded and thus perfect for you to enjoy.

Engelberg Titlis Adventure Switzerland [Travel Guide]

Djemo Graphic 2024-02-02 | Engelberg is one of the most touristy places in Switzerland. This is because of Mount Titlis that is quite accessible from various parts of Switzerland and thus perfect for a one-day trip. Engelberg lays in the Canton of Obwalden and is only 1 hour from Zurich and 30 minutes from Lucerne. There are 3 gondolas to be taken to access Mount Titlis. The last gondola has a rotating cabin, which is something very unique in the Swiss Alps. Once on the top, there will be a fantastic vista over various snow-covered peaks. You can see the Alps of 5 cantons: Lucerne, Obwalden, Nidwalden, Berne and Uri. There is also a skywalk bridge as one of the major attractions up on the summit, entry is free of charge. The best part is at the Trübsee. Once arrived down there after taking two cabin rides, you can go for snow tubing. This again is free as it is included in your ticket to access mount Titlis. The snowtubing is very fun. Over roughly 150 meters, you will slide down around a high curve at where you can take a small lift to go up again. There are no limits of how many runs you want to go for.

MARCH in Switzerland? Spring or Winter? What you NEED to KNOW!

Djemo Graphic 2024-01-26 | Switzerland during the month March: Is it now Spring already or still Winter. Well, March is a complicated month. Traveling during that month can be tricky, but with proper preparations, you will have a great trip. During March the weather can be very cold or warm, it can be Winter or already more to Spring. However, the big blossom only happened during April and May. Traveling in March has the advantage of experiencing a lot of snow up in the Alps, the days are longer and skiing is great. However, March is also peak season for Winter sports. Yet, it’s a good time to travel. March is a month of culture. There will be many festivals like carnival in Basel, Chienbäsä, Chalandamarz in Graubünden or Easter processions. However, some of them might also take place during February, it depends on the year you will be traveling. Checking the dates prior to booking your trip is highly recommended. March allows you to again do more, but yet Summer season still has not started in most of the places. Especially up in the Alps, the Winter season lasts until at least mid-march to end March, sometimes even longer. It will be more expensive to travel up in the Swiss Alps during March, whereas in the rest of Switzerland, it will be cheaper. Traveling in March is really worth it, it requires good planning and preparations, a diverse itinerary and certainly a good mix between staying up in the Swiss Alps and in the cities. Certainly, an enjoyable month before the big travel season.

Top 10 WINTER Switzerland – Best of Snow Season – Christmas, Skiing and Action

Djemo Graphic 2024-01-13 | Winter is no doubt a magical season. There is a lot to experience during the cold months, but the question is, what are the best things to do? Certainly going up to the Swiss Alps, enjoying the snow, visiting villages after snowfall and enjoying Christmas and the cultural season. Visit the magical valley of Lauterbrunnen with its very beautiful after snowfall and especially when the many waterfalls are frozen. The best time to visit would be during January and February. Roam around the village, get to see the many viewpoints at where you may take great photos. During Winter, you also may go for hiking. A great secret tip would be a visit to the Zinal glacier, which has a natural ice cave that is safe to see during January and February. The hike takes roughly 90 minutes and then you will arrive in a wonderful ice cave with the bluest light you could get to see during daytime. The Blausee is a tranquil lake that is very nice during snowfall. It’s a touristy spot but always worth a visit when there is snow. During December, there is also a Christmas market that is not held on a yearly basis. When there is snowfall and the Christmas market is on, you will find yourself in a perfect Winter Wonderland. Arosa is a very family-friendly tourist destination that also has a great ski resort. There are many slopes to be tried out, a panoramic viewpoint up on the Weisshorn, a squirrel trail and of course many great hotels to stay at. A very cozy one is the Arosa Kulm Hotel that has a long tradition. Refuel yourself at the spa, enjoy the great food and the comfortable rooms. It’s certainly a great idea to visit a village up in the Swiss Alps. A beautiful one would be Bosco/Gurin. Bosco Gurin often has snow and is described by many as a true Winter Wonderland. The village is seldomly busy, so you may enjoy a great time up there away from the touristy hotspots. The village has a beautiful blend of Ticinese and Walser architecture and is the only village of this kind in Switzerland. Stay beyond the sunset to enjoy a beautiful Winter Wonderland mood. Nearby Lauterbrunnen is the village of Mürren that is car-free and a great place to be visited. The village is quiet an calm despite laying in one of the most touristy regions of Switzerland. You may enjoy a fantastic toboggan run in there or go up to the Schilthorn to enjoy a great 360° panorama over the Swiss Alps. Engelberg is another tourist hotspot but during Winter definitely worth a visit. Go up to Mount Titlis to enjoy a stunning panoramic view over the snow covered Alps and try snowtubing at one of the middle stations. Engelberg and mount Titlis surprisingly not a very expensive places and thus, despite being a hotspot, a budget-friendly tourist attraction. Going up to the Grindelwald First is another Top attraction to be visited during Winter in Switzerland. From there you get a nice view over the Swiss mountains of Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau and you also can go for the thrilling First cliff walk. Grindelwald is one of the most beautiful Winter villages of Switzerland and a great place to ski at. The First is quite high up and considered quite snowsure. A good hotel to stay at in Grindelwald would be the Hotel Sunstar. Zermatt is no doubt one of the best among these Top 10 Winter places in Switzerland. There are too many great things to do up there. Taking a magical Winter train ride up to the Gornergrat, heading up to the Rothorn or Kleinmatterhorn or just roaming around this beautiful, peaceful and happening alpine village. Zermatt is in particular magical during snowfall, it really looks truly enchanting. During Winter, there is a high chance to enjoy breathtaking views up to the Matterhorn. The best place to be visited would be the Mont-Fort that offers the greatest 360° panorama over the Swiss, French and Italian Alps. You can see Mont-Blanc, the Matterhorn and various other famous peaks of the Alps. During Winter, you usually will have a good chance for great visibility. The Mont-Fort is part of Verbier and 4-Vallées, a world famous tourism region in Switzerland. Verbier is a very beautiful village and certainly worth a visit, especially after heavy snowfall.

The HIGHEST Station in Europe: ZERMATT Kleinmatterhorn Glacier Paradise SWITZERLAND

Djemo Graphic 2023-12-23 | The REAL Top of Europe is not at the Jungfraujoch, it is in Zermatt at the Kleinmatterhorn. UP there, you will be on the highest altitude station up at 3890 m. Often, the Matterhorn is in the clouds, you may increase your chances to see it when heading up to higher altitudes like at the Gornergrat, Rothorn, Trockener Steg or the Kleinmatterhorn. At the latter station, you have the highest chances of seeing it. However, it is not possible to access the Kleinmatterhorn station every day. Depending on the weather, the gondola is operating, when there is too much wind or rain/snowfall, the access is not possible. From Zermatt village, it will take you roughly 45-60 minutes to reach the Kleinmatterhorn. Thus, make sure to take the first cabin in Zermatt latest by 1pm. It is best to go up there around 10 am, to ensure having enough time up at the Kleinmatterhorn. Everything there is already closing at 3pm, the last cabin down is at 3:30 pm. From Zermatt, you first will have to take a cabin ride to Fury at where you need to take a second gondola to access Trockener Steg. At this place, you will be quite close to the Matterhorn, you will feel it being very massive. At the Trockener Steg it’s often windy, this may though not necessarily mean that the gondola to the Kleinmatterhorn is closed. In only 1 hour, you head from 2000 meters to nearly 4000 meters. From The Kleinmatterhorn, you may enjoy a breathtaking panorama over the Matterhorn, Mont-Blanc, Mont-Fort and more. The big highlight awaits you down in the glacier paradise. This glacier cave is mandmade and full of carved ice skultpures. Many of these sculptures represent typical motifs of the canton of Valais. On your way down, you may also consider getting out at Fury and hike down to the village of Zermatt through the snow. It’s an easy and very enjoyable hike.

REAL Fairytale World COLMAR - Incredible Christmas Market in France

Once you enter the old city, you will find yourself in a true winter wonderland Christmas fairytale. Everything here is in a perfect harmony. You will find various Christmas markets scattered around the old city, while the entire town is presenting itself in a very festive atmosphere. Compared to Switzerland, the Colmar Christmas market has its own vibe; the entire old city full of houses with beautifully decorated windows, walls and doors. At the market, you can get various artisan goods that are made by locals. In general, a visit to this Christmas market is very worth it, not only because it's so beautiful but also because of the prices that are quite cheap. Really make sure to spend enough time in Colmar, explore all of the old city, especially the corners “Petite Venise”, the woodframe houses corner behind the cityhall and the fairytale house. The most beautiful time starts around sunset and dusk, when the entire old city of Colmar is being lit up. Now, you will see lights everywhere, the entire atmosphere is even more cheesy and Christmassy than during the daytime. Also try out some local specialties that involves Pain Epicé and Tartes Flambées. Colmar, France can be easily reached by train from Strassbourg or Basel, Switzerland. This market can be perfectly combined with Strassbourg, Riqhwihr and Eguisheim. In general, some of Europe’s most beautiful Christmas markets are located in Alsace, France. Thus, really consider spending more than just 1 day in this wonderful region.

Djemo Graphic 2023-12-08 | From late November till December, Switzerland hosts plenty of fantastic Christmas markets. The tradition of Christmas roots very deeply in the Swiss culture. However, among all these many markets around in Zürich, Basel, Einsiedeln, Stein am Rhein, Lucerne, Montreux, Bern, etc.: Which ones are the most beautiful Christmas markets of Switzerland? Watch the video and get to meet the Top 7 Christmas Markets of Switzerland! Bern – The Stärnemärit at the Kleine Schanze is quite an experience. Visit the one of the most illuminated Christmas markets of Switzerland. At the Stärnemärit, you will have plenty of stars that decorate the market, this place is very family friendly and also perfect for foodie enthusiasts. Bülach – the secret favorite! Bülach is a town that is mainly known about Swiss people, but certainly not for cultural or tourism purpose. Bülach hosts one of the most beautiful Christmas markets of Switzerland and offers the probably best cultural performance with the Santa parade. Lugano – The a bit different Christmas market. In Lugano, Italy is near and this also shows at the Christmas market. If you want to have a different experience after visiting Christmas markets in the Swissgerman and -french part, then Lugano is certainly the right place. The old city is beautifully decorated with plenty of lights. The market hosts numerous artisan stalls and overall feels very traditional and authentic. Stein am Rhein - The fairytale town. The Märlistadt is more than just Christmas! In here, families and kids can experience fairytale performances in a very Christmassy atmosphere. The opening usually on December 1st and that starts with a march of Trychler, men wearing heavy bells. There will be a medieval Christmas market, plenty of lighting decorations, singing and great foodie stalls. Blausee – Christmas celebrated in nature. TAKE NOTE: The Christmas market is not held on a yearly basis! The Christmas market at the Blausee is a very unique one. It is for once not inside a village or city but out in the nature around one of the most beautiful lakes of Switzerland. The market is called Winterzauber am Blausee, which really matches the feeling. When there is a lot of snow, the Christmas market feels very enchanting and cozy. This was one of the most unique Christmas moments I ever had in Switzerland. Basel - The most traditional Christmas Market. Basel’s Christmas markets have the most beautiful stalls in all of Switzerland. It was even once voted the most beautiful Christmas market in all of Europe! What more to say? Take at least 2-3 hours and explore all of the market, enjoy seeing the many decorated stalls with all the unique artisan products. Bremgarten: The never-ending market. This market is the largest market of Switzerland. It is often very crowded while being endless. The market is throughout the entire old city, in front of the school and across the river. It certainly will take you at least 2 to 3 hours to explore this market.

AROSA Ski Resort and Kulm Hotel Your Winter Destination in Switzerland

Arosa hosts one of the most snow sure ski resorts in all of Switzerland and also is the home to some of the best hotels in the Swiss Alps. The ski resort of Arosa is perfect for beginners and professionals, as there are a lot of tracks ranging from easy to hard. There are 4 major peaks that you can access in Arosa: Brüggerhorn, Weisshorn, Plattenhorn and Hörnli. From the Hörnli, you could cross over to Lenzerheide. Together with Lenzerheide, Arosa is the largest ski resort of Graubünden (video sponsor). The Weisshorn is the highest mountain of the ski resort of Arosa. From there, you may enjoy a fantastic panorama over the Swiss Alps.
The Arosa Kulm Hotel (Video Sponsor) is an old and classic luxury hotel that belongs to the best in this resort. The hotel is perfect for couples, friends and even families with kids. The hotel has various restaurants: Thai, Muntanella, Taverna and a fondue chalet. There are various room classes: premium suites, regular suites and normal rooms: We stayed at the regular rooms, and it was great. A highlight is the spa with the large pool and a jacuzzi/whirlpool. Make sure to go for a swim during the day and the night. The stay at Arosa Kulm was amazing and I can recommend you to book your nights there.
The Squirrel trail is another big highlight of Arosa. It is the perfect attraction for non-skiers. You may feed the squirrels with hazel nuts. Just be a bit patient, and you will see, they will come to you! Best duration to stay is around 30-60 minutes. Go there during noon, later, the squirrels will disappear.

Zermatt Winter Wonderland at HEAVY SNOWFALL – BETTER than you THOUGHT! Sunnegga, Chez Vrony, Village

Djemo Graphic 2023-11-24 | Zermatt is one of the very highlights of Switzerland during Winter. This village is located in the very South of the Swiss Alps in the Canton of Valais. The very reason why many people come to Zermatt is because of the iconic Matterhorn. Now, what to do when there is bad weather, when you get no views up to the summits of the Swiss Alps, when it’s snowing? Zermatt is actually very magical during heavy snowfall. Yes, there won’t be great views, the visibility overall will be limited. This does not steal the magic of the snowfall, it is a lot better than you may have thought. There are three typical things to do up in Zermatt when there is heavy snowfall. The first one would be to go for a Winter hike. Certainly accessible during heavy snowfall is Sunegga. The underground funicular will operate, even when most of the cabin rides will be closed during this weather. From Sunegga, you may hike to Paradise and Chez Vrony. It’s an easy downhill hike that will take you roughly 30-40 minutes. Just be aware of skiers that you will have to share the trail with. At Paradise there is a good restaurant, otherwise the busier Chez Vrony will do as well. Access back to Sunegga is given by hiking again up or taking the chairlift. When the weather is bad, you probably may want to enjoy wellnessing at the hotel pools. Cold and snowy weather outside, while enjoying the warmth indoors; this will give you a very cozy feeling. Exploring the village of Zermatt during heavy snowfall is a must: during day and night. The mood in the village is so magical, the many snowflakes and the little people. Zermatt is like a true Winter fairytale, a winter wonderland when it’s snowing. During sunset, dusk and night, the mood will become quite romantic as the white snow will adsorb the colors and give it a unique feeling. Zermatt is a great place to enjoy dinners, you can get pretty much all kinds of foods: Japanese sushi, Italian, Thai and a lot more. Overall, Zermatt is a perfect Winter destination, even with bad weather or heavy snowfall.

ZERMATT Gornergrat Adventure – 1 DAY Budget Trip to Zermatt Switzerland in Winter

Djemo Graphic 2023-11-17 | Zermatt is one of the most visited places in all of Switzerland. This got much to do with the iconic Matterhorn that makes one of the best subjects for photography in Switzerland. Zermatt is up in the Swiss Alps, a mainstream destination and thus expensive, even for Switzerland. In this video, I show you a great itinerary for a 1 DAY TRIP to Zermatt on a BUDGET. Zermatt is expensive, but costs can be cut, without compromising on the quality. You need to arrive to Zermatt by train from Visp or Täsch, you cannot park your car up in Zermatt. First go to visit the village, it’s less crowded during the morning, thus really great to roam around. There are a couple of interesting points to see in the village, the main street that is the shopping boulevard, there are a lot of restaurants and bars, the church square, the bridge just nearby that offers a nice view, the promenade along the river and the old town with the traditional Swiss houses. The old town is located at the Hinterdorfstrasse. This area is full of houses that are typical for Valais. Go up to the Gornergrat during the early afternoon. You will have to take a stunning train ride up to the Gornergrat; it’s said to be one of the best train tracks you can take in all of Switzerland. Up from the GOrnergrat, you will have a fantastic alpine panorama over the Matterhorn, Kleinmatterhorn, Rothorn and Dufourspitze. You also can see the massive Gorner Glacier that is really impressive to look at. One station further down at Rotenboden, you may rent a sledge and slide down to the next station at Riffelberg. This toboggan run is really fun, especially with the marvelous view with the Matterhorn.

The LARGEST Christmas Market in Switzerland: Bremgarten AG – A TRUE FAIRYTALE

Djemo Graphic 2023-11-10 | Switzerland’s largest Christmas market is surprisingly not in one of the major cities. No, it’s in the less-known town called Bremgarten AG. Bremgarten is located in the canton of Aargau and charms with its beautiful old medieval city. The Christmas market is located in the entire old city, as well as in front of the school and across the bridge. The market feels endless, surely, you will have to plan in at least three hours or even more to explore it. The part at the city gate might be very crowded, but the more you move towards the centre and lower part of the old city, the less stressful it gets. Do explore the side alleys, there are many bars and discoes, and it’s also a good place to have a break from the crowds. The market all in all feels very balanced, there are plenty of local artisans that sell handmade products and for those who are foodie enthusiasts, there is a lot to try. The Bremgarten Market is certainly one of the very highlights of December in Switzerland. It is held during four days from a Thursday to Friday in early December. Avoid visiting during Saturday and Sunday, to opt for a better experience. The Christmas market is unforgettable, many great Christmas presents to see and purchase. There are even Trychler, men with large cowbells, marching through the old city, showcasing traditionally Swiss culture. You even may meet Saint Nicolas, who will give his blessings and sweets to the kids.

LUGANO Christmas Market: What a SURPRISE! The most beautiful Christmas Markets of Switzerland

Djemo Graphic 2023-11-03 | Let’s go to Ticino to explore one of the most beautiful Christmas Markets of Switzerland. Normally, people would visit the markets in the Swissgerman and Swiss-french part, but why not heading to Lugano instead? The market is located in the old city of Lugano; everything is easily being reached within walking distance. From the train station, it only takes you 5 minutes to reach the piazza to access the Christmas market. Lugano’s market has quite a strong Swiss-italian touch and thus is distinct from the other markets in Switzerland. At the piazza there are various artist performances that you can see. The market overall is really about Christmas, it’s authentic, maybe even too authentic. The various stalls sell plenty of artisan products that make great Christmas gifts. Most of the products sold here are handmade, which makes the exploration of this market more exciting. The main parts to be visited in the old city of Lugano are the piazza, the square just next to it near the lake promenade and the Via Nassa. The Via Nassa is an alley that is beautifully decorated with Christmas lightings, probably the most beautiful section of Lugano’s Christmas market. There is even a giant Christmas bauble at where you can take great photos. Take enough time to explore the market. 1-2 hours should be enough. Food wise, the market is predominantly about artisan products; but the many restaurants and bars nicely blend together with the Christmas market in Lugano. The Lugano market opens on 1st of December and lasts even beyond Christmas and new year; usually closing on the 7th or 8th of January. Thus, this market is perfect for you if you miss the time window for the other markets that are held during early and mid-December.

Top 10 AUTUMN Switzerland – Highlights in October November - Best Things to Do in Fall Season

Djemo Graphic 2023-10-22 | Autumn is the season of colors. It’s the time when the green leaves start to turn yellow, orange and red before they eventually fall. This happens during October and November in Switzerland. The Top 10 Places to be visited in Switzerland during Autumn are different kind of places that people would see during Summer. The Blausee is an amazing blue lake with a striking color, surrounded by a beautiful forest that adds the many colors during Fall season. The Blausee is notably less busy during Autumn. The lake is even beautiful to be visited during rainy days. Les Brenets is located in the Canton of Neuchâtel. It’s a great place for budget travelers as there will be little tourists and most of the attractions are included in your tourist ticket should you stay overnight in this canton. The Lac des Brenets separates Switzerland from France. The forest around the lake looks very old and shows beautiful colors during Autumn. At some days it might be rainy and then a visit to the Salt mine of Bex is very much worth it. Make sure to prebook your visit, otherwise you have no place on the train that takes you to the interior of the mine. It’s very interesting to learn about the mine and its history. The Valle di Muggio is a hidden gem in the Canton of Ticino in Switzerland. There are many beautiful small villages and a mill down at Bruzzella at where people produce corn flower. The Valle Verzasca is very famous for swimming but also worth to be visited during the colorful Autumn season. You can do the usual things by going to the villages of Lavertezzo and Sonogno. The lake of Palpuogna is a hidden gem in the canton of Graubünden. The lake is surrounded by larches that turn golden during October. The lake is even nice to be visited during snow fall in Autumn. Romainmôtier is a village in the Jura Vaudois and is considered one of the most beautiful villages of Switzerland. Romainmôtier hosts a yearly festival called Les Sonailles at where traditionally Swiss cow bells are being sold. The festival is accompanied by music and performances. Nearby is the Cascade du Dard and the Tine de Conflens that are very beautiful and serene during late October and early November. Fafleralp is a lone place in the Swiss Alps at the upper end of the Lötschental. It’s full of golden larches and perfect to go for an easy hike to the Grundsee. Also do explore the village of Blatten that is very much worth it. The Lavaux, the Swiss Wine Terraces are located at the northern shore of Lake Geneva and are considered one of the best locations for seeing the Autumn colors. During late October, the leaves turn yellow and if you are even lucky, you may witness a fantastic sunset. It’s beautiful to go for hiking at the golden vineyards at the villages of Epesses and Rivaz. The Lake of Saoseo is again considered the most beautiful place to be visited during Autumn Season. This lake is incomparable. The striking blue color, the green spruces, golden larches and snow mountains just nicely blend together. You will have to hike up to Lago di Saoseo or else reserve a public bus online. Timings are at 10 in the morning and 3 in the afternoon. Driving up is strictly forbidden. So many great places to be seen in Switzerland during Fall season, probably better and less crowded than during Summer.

Beautiful SWISS VILLAGE in northern Zürich Switzerland

Djemo Graphic 2023-09-22 | Welcome to an often-unnoticed village that is so typically SWISS that you should consider visiting it! It lays in the northern part of the Canton of Zürich and it’s called Marthalen. Some people say, it is one of the most beautiful villages of Switzerland. It charms with its many wood frame houses. Marthalen has many beautiful streets and alleys to be explored. When roaming around, you will notice that Marthalen is really full of these many wood frame houses; something that this village is known for. Marthalen is typically Swiss but not a touristy village, until now it remains calm and quiet, thus perfect for people who love to take it easy. Marthalen is humble, but has many restaurants to dine at. Thus, consider trying the local food. Marthalen also has a local museum that opens every first Sunday of each month. The museum showcases much about the local farmer culture and the interior of a traditional house of northern Switzerland. Also, Marthalen can be perfectly combined with two great nearby attractions. The Rhine falls (Rheinfall) are Europe’s highest river waterfalls and are only 10 minutes away from Marthalen. The Rhine falls are great, because you can take various boat rides to get very close to the waterfall. Then, there is also the village of Rheinau that charms with its beautiful monastery. The island with the monastery is a very serene spot, perfect for relaxation and picnics. Definitely, when visiting Marthalen, you can perfectly combine it with some highlights of northern Switzerland.

Switzerland the WAY OF WATER – Flims Healing Trail

Djemo Graphic 2023-09-15 | The Swiss Alps are truly amazing. In there, you will find many sanctuaries, places at where you can refuel yourself with new energy and connect to nature. The Alps are very popular to be visited because of its many hiking trails. Switzerland is a true mecca for hikers. There are many easy, medium and difficult hiking trails. One of them is at Flims, the trail along the Conn creek that is very easy, perfect for beginners and also very family-friendly. The trail along the creek of Conn will lead you to one of Switzerland’s most unique landscapes, the Ruinaulta or as others call it: the Swiss Grand Canyon. The Rhine Canyon is truly majestic. The perfect place to view it from is the platform Il Spir. In order to reach, you will have to start at Flims Waldhaus, walk past the Caumasee, and then follow the Conn creek – the way of water. This is a true healing trail at where you can very well immerse yourself into the nature, the peaceful forest, inhale its many scents and listen to the flowing water of the creek. The entire hike from Flims to Conn to Il Spir to see the Rhine Canyon (Rheinschlucht) will take you roughly 1 to 2 hours. On your way back, you may consider taking a horse carriage that will take you back to Flims Waldhaus in around 40-50 minutes. The CRAZIEST & Most UNIQUE Swiss House – HOW to FIND it!

Djemo Graphic 2023-09-08 | Switzerland charms with its Alps and many traditional villages and houses. There is this secret valley in Ticino that is a true paradise for hikers who love to explore the most remote areas of Switzerland. Sometimes, the best secrets of Switzerland lay in the less visited corners, such as at this lonely place in the Swiss Alps. It takes roughly 1 and a half hours to hike up to this crazy and unique house. The first part of the hike is steep, the ascent is roughly 200 meters to reach the village just at the top of the waterfall. You then will arrive at a small settlement by the creek that charms with a wonderful bridge that makes one of the best photo motifs of Ticino. The bridge at the folk village of Puntid. The hike then goes along the creek, it’s certainly a lot easier. The trail will lead you through numerous rocks that fell during a mountain slide that happened centuries ago. This mountain slide is the reason, why many of the locals built their houses beneath the rocks. These unique folk houses are like Hobbit houses, they give a safe shelter and certainly are more protected against any mountain slides than the previous ones. These unique hobbit houses are called Splüi by the locals. The roofs of these houses are made by the rocks themselves. The Splüia Bela is the most unique and craziest of these typical houses of Ticino. Although it may take quite a while to reach, the hike is very much worth it. The tranquility at the house, the loneliness and the connection to the nature and the Swiss Alps is unbelievably beautiful.

Insane PARADISE at CORON PHILIPPINES: Twin Lagoons, Barracuda & Kayangan Lake

Djemo Graphic 2023-08-26 | Coron is no doubt one of the most beautiful places to be visited in the Philippines. Meanwhile, Coron has become quite popular, which is due to these insane rock formations. Coron island is one of the most visited and beautiful tourist attractions of the Philippines. People usually visit the twin lagoons, which are two lagoons that are connected through a narrow passage. The smaller of the twin lagoons is more quiet as there are no boats. The twin lagoons are great to be visited during the morning. The barracuda lake is one of the 9 lakes on Coron island. It is a salt water lake and people love to come here for swimming and free diving. The barracuda lake is best to be visited during lunch time to avoid crows. The probably most popular place on Coron island is the Kayangan Lake, the only fresh water lake that is accessible to tourists. The Kayangan lake is visited by many people, thus, it will be likely crowded. Very eye-catching is the small cave that can be accessed through diving through a short corridor. Coron island is no longer a hidden gem in the Philippines. It is meanwhile as popular as other insane paradises of Southeast Asia like the Halong Bay or Krabi. To have less people at Coron, it is a good idea to travel outside of holiday season, which would be May or even June/July. Coron is for anybody, who loves the sea, lakes and wonderful rocks that perfectly complement this garden eden of the Seas.

Many think that there are only these beautiful rock formations, the lakes and the lagoons, but there is actually more. Have you ever heard of Sangat island. It’s a lonely island just nearby Coron Town. Sangat is serene, relaxing and a tropical paradise. The Tao Sangat resort is the best place we have stayed at in the Philippines (no paid content). Tao Sangat belongs to a diver’s network between Palawan and Coron. Most of the people come to Tao Sangat for scuba diving. Apparently, Coron is a magnet for shipwreck diving. There are many, many Japanese shipwrecks that sunk during world war too, thus there is a lot to be discovered also underwater. Tao Sangat is an eco-resort, very environmentally friendly and just purely relaxing. Here you will definitely have real holidays. The island has a wonderful beach, nice huts and this unique rock bar at where the guests will go for cocktails near sunset. Sangat island marks a stark contrast to the very popular and meanwhile crowded Coron island. It is far from being busy, in fact nearly lonely. Here you can just relax and once in a while go for some scuba diving at the wrecks. Allow yourself being spoiled by a hip twist of Filipino cuisine and a great service like massage. Sangat island is for those travelers who love to take it easy and or are into scuba diving. Thus, you can have the best of both worlds: A relaxing holiday at the Philippines and enjoying the beauty of the sea.

Djemo Graphic 2023-08-04 | Cebu is one of the most visited islands in the Philippines. It is known for its many waterfalls but also hosts various other attractions. A major reason to visit Cebu would be the Whale Shark watching, which was made possible due to them being fed. It is very impressive to see the gigantic whale sharks swimming past you, definitely one of the most beautiful experiences I ever had. The Tumalog Falls are another major tourist attraction of Cebu. It is a wonderful waterfall that lands in a small pool at where people can go for a swim. It is perfect to be combined with the whale shark watching. Sumilon island is often named to be included in a day trip around Oslob. Sumilon island charms with its sandbar and white sand beach. The truth however is different. The island is mostly private owned and closed to the public. Thus, you only may spend your time at the sandbar when the sun is very strong. There are barely and places in the shade, thus, better do not include Sumilon island; skip it. Simala church is a major pilgrimage site in the Philippines and the holiest place to local Cebuanos. The Philippines are mainly Roman Catholic and the people are still very devoted. You may see the many pilgrims coming to Simala to perform their prayers at the church. It is a very interesting church complex and still is under expansion. All these attractions are touristy but can be nicely combined for a day trip to south and eastern Cebu.

Top 3 Valleys of Switzerland – BEST of the Swiss Alps [Travel Guide]

Djemo Graphic 2023-08-01 | Switzerland is full of amazing valleys. Each valley has its unique characteristics such as architecture, culture, landscape and food. In this video, the Top 3 Valleys of Switzerland are being presented in detail. The Val Bavona is a very raw and mystical valley in the Canton of Ticino. The Val Bavona is known for its village of Foroglio and the many unique raw stone houses that were built beneath the rocks that the locals call Splüi. The Val Bavona is full of wonderful villages like Forolgio, Sonlerto, Sabbione, Fontana and San Carlo. The Val Bavona is worth to be explored for about 2 days. Also visit the Foroglio waterfall that is considered a highlight in this Swiss valley. The Simmental is often named as the greenest valley of Switzerand and even of Europe. The Simmental is the home to two of the top 10 waterfalls of Switzerland: The Siebenbrunnen and the Iffigfall. The Siebenbrunnen is a branched waterfall that can be accessed by hiking up from Lenk for about 40 minutes. A highlight of the Simmental is the house trail at where you can see the many beautiful homes that are decorated with plenty of paintings and prayers. Beautiful villages to visit are Boltigen, Erlenbach and Oberwil. At Oberwil there is also a suspension bridge that takes you to the Weissburg Bad. The Schächental is in the Canton of Uri and hosts one of the most beautiful treasures of the Swiss Alps. This would be the Staubifall (Stäuber) that is one of the most photographed subjects of Switzerland on Instagram. Many travelers admire the Schächental as it is raw, green and looks like post cards.

This video presents you the Top 3 Swiss villages up in the Alps. A very beautiful and serene village is Bosco / Gurin, a village in the hidden corners of the canton of Ticino. Bosco / Gurin charms with its many beautiful wooden and stone houses that are quite unique within Ticino. Bosco / Gurin is populated by Walser people, thus german-speaking and a very special place. Bosco / Gurin is very nice to be visited during Summer, the greens strike with their shiny color, otherwise during Winter, when the village is covered in the snow, is also very magical. Grimentz is one of the most admired villages among the most beautiful ones in Switzerland. Grimentz charms with its houses that are decorated with plenty of geraniums. Grimentz is full of traditional wooden houses and easily can rank among the most stereotypically Swiss villages. Grimentz is nice during any season, Summer is beautiful with the many flower decorations, during Autumn you see the golden larches and in Winter, Grimentz will be covered with loads of snow. Grimentz is certainly a favorite among the most beautiful villages of Switzerland. Mürren is a car-free village in the Lauterbrunnen valley and has been very popular since quite a while. Mürren is very beautiful during Winter, especially when it’s covered with snow. The most beautiful part of Mürren is this road at where you see the houses with Mount Eiger in the background. Mürren is also great to go for sledding or to combine with a visit to the Schilthorn, a James Bond filming location.

Saas-Fee, the filming location of “Last Christmas” is one of the most visited Winter villages in all of Switzerland. The town is exciting to visit during Summer and Winter. Saas-Fee is not only great for skiing but also for families, as there is a lot to do in this village. The entire village is car-free, it’s nice to roam around the many traditional houses. You can try going up to the Mittelallalin to the world’s highest located revolving restaurant, visit the ice pavilion, the largest manmade glacier cave in the world or go for a ski down hill; this during Winter and even Summer! The Gorge du Durnand is a canyon / gorge with multiple waterfalls and a steep ascent. It’s one of the most thrilling and most beautiful gorges you could visit in Switzerland, and is even very budget traveler friendly. The Lac de Tanay is one of the secret lakes in the Canton of Valais. From Miex, you need to go for a steep hike and then you will arrive at this very humble, peaceful lake Lac de Tanay. It is nicely embedded into the Swiss Alps and thus makes a perfect sanctuary. The underground Lake (Lac Souterrain) of Saint-Léonard is one of the most important wonders of nature of the Canton of Valais. The lake is 300 meters long and is the largest underground lake of Europe. This is certainly a very highlight in the Canton of Valais, but you will have to prebook your visit. The Aletsch Glacier is the largest glacier in the Canton of Wallis, Switzerland and even of the Alps! You can get brilliant views from multiple points: The Moosfluh, Bettmerhorn and the Eggishorn. The best impression would be from the Eggishorn, as from there, you will get a perfect view over the bend of the king of the Alps and you can even see the Jungfraujoch. This is also a quite cheap place to visit for budget travelers. The hiking trail along the Bisse du Milieu and Bisse Vieux of Nendaz is a great and totally free attraction for anybody who loves to connect to nature. These hiking trails are so refreshing, which is why they are often called healing trails. In here, you can experience true beauty, perfect for budget traveling in Switzerland. The Mont-Fort at Verbier offers you a 360° panorama over the Swiss Alps as well as the Alps of France and Italy. You can see the Matterhorn and Mont Blanc, two important summits of the Alps. Try out the zipline, the highest located zipline in Europe; it’s going to be thrilling and pure adrenaline! Zermatt is always a favorite destination in the Canton of Wallis. You will get many great views over the Matterhorn from the Gornergrat, Rothorn, Kleinmatterhorn and the village itself. Zermatt’s village is touristy but also traditional and relaxing. Top 10 SUMMER Switzerland – Best of / Highlights [Travel Guide]

The country will be fully green, the days long and the weather warm. There will usually be a lot of sun and you can enjoy fantastic views over the Swiss Alps, roam around villages or cities or do more adventurous activities. Zurich is great to be visited during Summer, it’s warm, vibrant and there will be a lot of street cafes. Stroll through the alleys and walk along the Limmat quay or hang out at the Bellevue to enjoy Lake Zurich and the view to the Swiss Alps. The Rhone glacier at the Furka passroad is a highlight during Summer. You can visit the ice cave inside the glacier and overall enjoy a great drive up to the pass and down to the canton of Valais. You may also go for the Furka steam railway train that is one of the best nostalgic attractions of Switzerland. The rhinefalls is the highest river waterfall of Europe. It can be visited from the side of Schaffhausen or Zurich, where the first one is in general better. You can take the boat to the rock and stand in the middle of the waterfall. Otherwise take a boat to the side of Zurich, enjoy the views from the balconies and head up to the castle. Lake Lugano region is very exciting during Summer. You can visit the town of Lugano, head up to Mount San Salvatore or have a quiet time at the villages of Morcote or Gandria. Lugano is one of the most visited Swiss cities during Summer. The Giessbach falls are one of the best in all of Switzerland. There are 14 waterfalls that enchant any visitor. Although Switzerland is a small country, the diversity among the cities is very noticeable. The architecture, the art and the culture differ a lot from city to city. You will find the cities of Switzerland by the river, lake or even in the valleys. Each city has its unique appearance as well as its hotspots and attractions of where to go to.
Sion is the capital of the very touristy canton of Valais (Wallis). Interestingly, Sion is only little known but ranks easily among the most beautiful cities of Switzerland. Sion feels like being in Italy but is a French-speaking city. Sion is vibrant, full of street art and also a foodie hub. The most remarkable however are the two castles up on the hills. Lugano is the largest city of Ticino in the Italian-speaking part of Switzerland. Lugano lays by the lake, surrounded by the Swiss Alps, and one can feel that Italy is quite near. Lugano charms with its many alleys, culture, lake promenade and its view points. The best view over the surrounding and the city of Lugano you can get at the Monte Brè or Monte San Salvatore. Basel is the hub for the pharmaceutical industry. Basel is an old city and full of culture. It’s important to explore the many alleys with their colorful houses, see the red city hall, the minster and cross the bridges. Basel has a strong connection to its traditions. Important to mention here are the Vogelgryff and the Morgestraich. Bern is the federal city (capital) of Switzerland and the only town that is considered UNESCO world heritage. Very typical for Bern are the many arcades and the fountains. Bern’s old city is really a highlight, thus make sure to spend here at least half a day. Neuchâtel is in the French-speaking part of Switzerland, a town that feels Mediterranean and sort of French/Italian. The highlight of Neuchâtel are the lake promenade, the graffiti alley and the collegiate church with the castle. Schaffhausen is probably the largest and best preserved old city in Switzerland. Schaffhausen’s old town charms with its colorful houses and oriel windows (balcony windows). Schaffhausen is easy to explore by walk it’s pretty much car-free. The best things to do in and around Schaffhausen are a visit to the Museum zu Allerheiligen, walking at the Vordergasse alley, going up to the Munot and seeing the nearby Rhinefalls. The Munot is a centre for culture and hosts various events. Zurich is the largest city in all of Switzerland. It’s the hub for innovation and business but at the same time is a very touristy destination. Zurich’s old city concentrates around the Limmat quay. Walk along the river Limmat, enter the many protestant churches or head up to the Lindenhof and Polyterrase to enjoy a great vista over the old city of Zurich. Zurich is modern but also very cultural; the major event being the Sechseläuten festival. Fribourg is a city on two levels. The old city of perfectly preserved and thus great to explore. Ascend the church tower of the St. Nicolas cathedral or the Loretta chapel to enjoy a brilliant vista. Fribourg city has also some similarities with Luxemburg. Solothurn is the most beautiful baroque city of Switzerland. The old town is full of beautiful houses and concentrates around the river Aare. The major landmark is the St. Urseren Cathedral that offers you a great view from its tower. Lucerne is no doubt the most beautiful of the Top 10 Swiss Cities. Lucerne has been a favorite for many tourists since it offers so many great things such as a charming river promenade along the Reuss, a great view over Lake Lucerne (Vierwaldstättersee) and the Swiss Alps and otherwise seems very inviting with its alleys and painted houses. Lucerne’s best attractions are the Jesuitenkirche, Gletschergarten museum and many more. Explore Lucerne on the water by taking a boat ride or head up to Mount Pilatus to get a perfect vista over the Swiss Alps and this old city.
