An Edwards Gen II Bb trumpet and Yamaha Xeno 8335 are compared here; both are excellent trumpets. The Xeno has surprised me with its quality; I don't often have standard Yamaha's around. It is a very good middle of the road horn; it would play well in a symphony, could easily be used for a solist, and it could also be used as a lead horn (for a time :)). I think it leans slightly dark, but it is a shocking good player. The Edwards has a large bell, large bell flare and the bell uses an extra heavy brass. Still, it is so well balanced it can play in any venue. It, like the Yamaha, leans slightly dark but would also function well as a do-it-all horn. Played with the following mouthpieces...
