Really Useful Engine (80s Synth-Pop Remix) The Art Of Ash 2025-07-22 | Yes, project "Tears For Fears" is still on it's way. But while you guys wait for that, here's something I cooked up — an 80's cover of Really Useful Engine. I'm honestly surprised why I didn't tackle this one. I went for a sound similar to that of A-ha, with a good use of the Juno and ya know the PPG and the DX7 and a beautifully processed and programmed LinnDrum. The lead sound I drew from "Head Over Heels" by Tears For Fears on the Jupiter... oh and the saxophone solo which was so common in 80's pop songs! Hope you guys enjoy! The Busy Station Theme (Synth Cover) The Art Of Ash 2025-05-28 | This only took 2 hours to complete. I wanted to experiment with what sounds I had, because I only have so many sounds to work with. I went for a sort of sound that was similar to "I Would Die 4 U" by Prince. I loved how he programmed and processed the LM-1 in that song and with that arpeggiated bass sound from the Memorymoog, so I went with something that mimics that. I quite like it. I think I can safely say this is the best my drum sounds have ever sounded.I'll probably try the Watermill Theme next. Henry Gets Haunted By Synthesizers The Art Of Ash 2024-12-29 | This is something I had in the back of my brain for a long time: What if Mike and Junior kept with the synth stuff after S2 ? Like, I can imagine since the show's budget got bigger, and if they kept the synth aesthetic, they'd probably have something like a DX7 maybe a Prophet or an OB-Xa or maybe even a Fairlight. I mostly used the CS-80 because the ring modulator is great for spooky sound effects, especially for horror when you manipulate the pitch and I used a vocoder for more spooky, ghostly pad sort of sounds. Night Train Sing-along (80s Style Synth Remix) | Thomas The Tank Engine And Friends The Art Of Ash 2024-12-20 | So, I had this in mind since I made the Post Train Theme from last year. But I wasn't really sure how to tackle it until I just came to the conclusion it doesn't have to be a 100% recreation in its arrangement. I left out the viola arpeggio as I felt there was already enough in the verse so everything isn't shrouded or lost in the mix. I knew a big unison synth lead was the way to go as well instead of a horn sound as that was much brighter and the portamento gives it that bite with the articulation. I also thought that a use of digital synths would fit as they have a glassier sound than analog synths. I look back and realize that THIS very guy was the guy that got me into music when I first heard his song "Imagine", I fell in love and soon that became the first song I learned how to play on piano.
