LETS MAKE AN ART JOURNAL PAGE A Bit of Birdsong 2024-02-20 | LET'S MAKE AN ART JOURNAL PAGEHey, everybody! I really wanted to create something in an art journal last night, but I felt a little tired and blocked. So I referred back to a formula I came up with to jumpstart an art page when I feel like this. Remember -- this is NOT meant to be some sort of masterpiece, but it is a beautiful way to get started when you don't know where to start! And this does not have to be the end of what you do on the page. Using a process like this usually gets me jumpstarted and I find my creativity flowing again. I use the acronym G.R.E.A.T. -- a system I created for making layered journal pages. G = ground floor R = repeating patternE = ephemeraA = artT = textureThere is always wiggle room with the steps, and it's perfectly okay to flip some steps or skip a step, but going through these five thought processes makes it really easy to create a GREAT journal page. As you know, I want to focus a lot more on recycle, reuse and trashy junky projects this year. My planner is no exception. I went ahead and made one for the whole year with a Google calendar page printed for each month and room around each month to add lots of stuff for the month. I am so happy with the way it turned out. I think when you are working with trash and recycle, you have to let the materials tell you what to do sometimes. I am really happy I picked up this large corrugated envelope to work with.
