Flying a helicopter across the Norwegian Sea! Flightradar24 2025-06-27 | Join us for a very special helicopter ride out over the Norwegian Sea with Lufttransport, from Bodø to the remote island of Værøy – part of the stunning Lofoten archipelago. The trip is just 53 miles or 85 kilometers long, more or less a straight line out toward the northwest from Bodø. We're flying on the sleek Leonardo AW139, and we'll be cruising at an altitude of 1400 feet going out, then on the way back at just 700 feet over the sea, just as the sun comes out. Gorgeous!Plus we've got Sophia along for the ride as well. And not only did the sun come out, but got to perform a circuit right around the entire island before heading back to Bodø. What a treat it was to see this place from the air like this. We've got plenty of amazing views and rotor action plus we'll even have a little chat with the pilots.What’s extra cool in this helicopter is it can taxi out to the runway just like an airplane does, unlike those on skids which need other equipment if you want to move them around on the ground. The gear also retracts during flight. There was once an airport on Værøy that could handle fixed wing aircraft, but it was only open for four years. After a fatal crash due to high winds causing structural failure on a Twin Otter, it was closed, and eventually this heliport was constructed as the alternative. This is what’s known as a PSO route, or public service obligation – that means it’s an essential air route for residents and so is subsidized by the government. Air France A350 sim training! (We play FO) Flightradar24 2025-05-09 | Take a seat with Gabe in the right seat of an Air France A350 – in the newly inaugurated wing of the Air France training center at Paris CDG. That's right, we've got quite a bit of time in the simulator to see how a typical recurrent training might go. And Gabe gets to play along as First Officer all while holding a camera in his hand. We show you all about what it takes to taxi an A350 to the runway, get it up into the air and then land it again (at Marseille in this case) from the FO's perspective.Later on Gabe gets to take a crack at the landing, and this is an extra cool experience because these A350 simulators (like on the real thing) feature HUDs (head up displays). Will he grease it or break some landing gear?Finally we get a look at the system the instructor uses to change scenarios and insert failures, all to make sure Air France (and other) pilots are trained up, current and ready to fly the real things.And we take a walk around at ground level under these impressive simulators, plus take a look around at some of the back rooms, servers and machinery that makes them work. Flying to a MYSTERY city with SAS Flightradar24 2025-04-25 | Join Gabe as he boards the very special annual SAS Destination Unknown flight to a mystery city in Europe. Passengers have to be quick to grab a seat when these go on sale, and the payment is made with Eurobonds points. Those lucky enough to get onboard are treated to a three day trip to a city that will be a complete surprise to them, as well as a bunch of activities on the ground as a group. Sneak peek at the SWISS A350 in final assembly! Flightradar24 2025-04-18 | Today we're back in Toulouse with Airbus and SWISS to visit the brand new A350 taking shape for the flag carrier in the Final Assembly Line. This aircraft will be number two (the first is already painted and awaiting application of its very special "Wanderlust" livery). Airport Snowplows that DRIVE THEMSELVES! Flightradar24 2025-04-04 | In this video we meet the autonomous airport snowplows of the future, taking a tour and a little test drive with Swedavia at Stockholm Arlanda Airport. Better known as PSBs, these massive machines keep this Nordic airport running around the clock even in the worst weather the north can throw at it. In fact Arlanda Airport has never closed due to weather. Now Swedavia is pushing to the forefront of technology by trialing these incredible self-driving PSBs that will one day help make snow removal more accurate, faster and safer than ever before. For now it's in advanced testing, but soon enough it'll be in real operation. Swedavia recently became the first operator in the world to run eight of these autonomous PSBs together, in a successful test. Now we're among the first in the world to see how they do what they do. We've got runway 01R to ourselves as we make the rounds and watch them in action. No snow today, but it's still mighty impressive. Performing aircraft turnarounds at FRA with Swissport! Flightradar24 2025-03-21 | Join us for a very special day out on the busy ramp at Frankfurt International Airport (FRA) with Swissport. We're spending the day watching how ground handlers turn around an aircraft. And we've got a close up look at everything from loading and unloading baggage and cargo to what it's like to push an airplane from inside the flugzeugschlepper, also known as an aircraft tug. We've got narrowbodies as well as a widebody (the unique Uzbekistan Airways 787). We even take a ride over to the currently under construction new Terminal 3. Our crazy planespotting mission in Tokyo. Flightradar24 2025-03-14 | While we were in Tokyo recently we wanted to find the most exciting way to go planespotting around Tokyo Haneda Airport (HND) — and we found it! Instead of sticking to the usual spots, we took a water taxi out onto Tokyo Bay to get up close to the runways. The views were incredible, with planes landing and taking off just above us! But it wasn't easy to find, and you'll get to come along with us in the video on the sometimes amusing journey to try and actually locate a water taxi that would take us out. At one point we definitely weren't sure we'd pull it off.After that, we headed to the Haneda Airport Observation Deck at Terminal 3 where we met fellow aviation fans and found that they were almost all using Flightradar24 while watching the airplanes – from hardcore plane spotter photographers to causal travelers just enjoying the day out. We managed to hand out a whole bunch of our very exclusive Flightradar24 keychains to some of these well-deserving users. 3 hours (transatlantic!) in the Dash 8 cockpit Flightradar24 2025-03-07 | We're going transatlantic on the workhorse Dash 8-200 with Air Greenland – flying from the brand new Nuuk International Airport in Greenland to Reykjavik's Keflavik Airport in Iceland (KEF). And we're sitting in the jumpseat which means we have 3 hours on this very-long-haul-for-a-turboprop over the ice cap and remote east Greenland plus the Atlantic Ocean. Putting Starlink to the test on a special airBaltic flight (Riga–Riga) Flightradar24 2025-02-28 | Join us onboard airBaltic's launch flight for its brand new Starlink inflight internet service. The Latvian airline has become the first airline in Europe to offer free and fast Starlink internet and we're flying Riga to Riga for about an hour and a half this evening to put it to the test. Beforehand we've got a space-themed gate party including comments from CEO Martin Gauss, and we get to board via a specially decorated jetbridge. Then enjoy the incredible space-age light show onboard the airBaltic A220, the party-like atmosphere as we get up into the air above Latvia, and even a special meal with space cake and champagne. Flying the A340 from Antarctica to Africa! Flightradar24 2025-02-21 | It's time to leave Antarctica and head home after 8 incredible days on the 7th continent with White Desert. That means we're greeting the inbound A340-300 (operated by Hi-Fly) as it lands at Wolf's Fang Runway on a beautiful bluebird day with almost no wind. Then it's time to climb onboard and make the 5.5 hour trek back to South Africa. The takeoff from the blue ice runway at Wolf's Fang is almost as incredible and exciting to watch as the landing was. 13 hours on the first ever Stockholm–Tokyo (wild routing avoiding Russia!) Flightradar24 2025-02-14 | Join us for a very special inaugural flight as All Nippon Airways launches flights between Stockholm Arlanda and Tokyo Haneda on the Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner. This is part of ANA's recent European expansion and we are onboard to show you all about what this historic flight was like. It's the first ever flight between Stockholm and Tokyo by a Japanese airline and the first time the route has been flown since SAS briefly served the pair up until 1997. And we're in business class for the first flight.We've got the early morning festivities at the gate for NH222 including some nice speeches, sushi, a 7am DJ and balloons. We'll also show you the special tote bag we were given to commemorate the day. And of course we'll bring you all the action on this long 13 hour flight which today is taking the southerly route avoiding Russia and traveling via the Black Sea, Azerbaijan, the Caspian Sea, Kazakhstan, China and South Korea. Air Greenland A330neo cockpit to new Nuuk runway! Flightradar24 2025-02-07 | In this video join Gabe on a flight deck ride from Copenhagen to Nuuk, direct for the first time ever on the A330NEO. Up until late 2024 the only place Air Greenland could send its wide body jet was Kangerlussuaq (SFJ), but now with a brand new lengthened runway and new terminal building, Greenland's capital Nuuk can finally be the international gateway for the largest island on earth. We're in the jumpseat for the entire 4-hour flight and we'll hear all about the new operation into Nuuk including how they tackle some of its challenges like the fickle and sometimes extreme weather along the coast, the higher minimums to land when the aircraft is heavy, and the shorter available stopping distance compared to SFJ. It's a fascinating insight once again into Air Greenland, which is constantly having to face unique challenges thanks to its remoteness and bad weather. Exploring Antarctica by Twin Otter (on skis!) Flightradar24 2025-01-17 | In this video we take two flights around Antarctica on a Twin Otter outfitted with skis in place of landing gear. This is just about the most versatile aircraft you can ask for, and not only can it land nearly anywhere, it can also fly low and as it turns out, it's got amazing maneuverability too. TCAS at work in close call in Phoenix Flightradar24 2025-01-14 | A United Airlines 737 and Delta Air Lines A330 were both on approach to Phoenix. United flight 1724 was cleared for Runway 07R, Delta 1070 was cleared for Runway 08. The aircraft were on a conflicting path and TCAS alerted both crews. United climbed, while Delta descended and the aircraft were de-conflicted. The closest lateral distance is at 17:58:53.7 UTC when the two aircraft are roughly 1,217 feet apart. At that time, they were 875 feet apart vertically.Prior to that, United was descending towards the airport above Delta and began climbing again at 17:58:35.5 from a lowest altitude of 4,075. Cape Town to Antarctica by Private A340 Flightradar24 2024-12-20 | Today we’re flying a private A340 from Cape Town to Antarctica! Wolf’s Fang Runway, to be exact [WFR/AT98 – coordinates 71º 32' 00” S 8º 50' 00” E]. It’s the only privately operated ice runway in Antarctica and it’s actually built on top of glacial ice, so the whole process of landing an A340-300 there is fascinating. As are all the logistics around this flight, run by White Desert, a luxury travel company specializing in trips to the 7th continent based out of Cape Town. It’s an incredible day of flying as we leave Africa behind and fly south for 5.5 hours before seeing the incredible ice of Antarctica. Watch an A340 landing on ICE in ANTARCTICA! Flightradar24 2024-12-16 | Gabe traveled to Antarctica with White Desert earlier this month and there's lots of incredible content coming your way from that trip but for now an appetizer: the A340-300 operated by Hi-Fly coming in to land at Wolf's Fang Runway, the only private blue ice runway in Antarctica, after its 5.5 hour flight from Cape Town, South Africa. We'll also show you the runway backtrack as the A340 taxis to the apron and ground equipment is attached. In some ways it's a lot like you'd expect at any airport in the world except, well, it's very unique at the same time.
