It took me a while before I learned how to be comfortable on camera, so that's why I wanted to share some of the advice that helped me out while I was trying to improve.These are just a few EASY ways to be confident on camera and learn how to get better at talking on camera so that you look relaxed in videos - Enjoy!First (Practice Videos): I think making practice videos when you're doing simple things like cleaning your room, playing a video game, cooking dinner, etc. is a great way to be more confident on YouTube. Pretending like there's an audience in front of you while you're doing things you're used to doing can help you learn how to be less awkward on camera and just avoid some mistakes new YouTubers make. I still do this all the time when I'm gaming and I think it's one of the best tips for new creators to learn how to be more confident on YouTube.Second (Become Self-Aware): Knowing the areas that need improvement for your videos will go a long way in helping you learn how to be more confident on camera. My tip here is ask your friends to watch your videos and point out the parts that could use more improvement. I see these mistakes when I do YouTube channel reviews and I thought I should mention them to help you avoid these YouTube mistakes, but also to help you get noticed as a small YouTuber.YouTube mistakes are inevitable, especially for a new creator who is just getting started! They try mimicking what other larger creators are doing because they have the "if it worked for them, it will work for me," mindset. But that's just not the way YouTube works, and it's a common mistake that new YouTubers make.So in this video I just cover some things YouTube do wrong and give some personal advice for new YouTubers. I also wanted to share some common mistakes I see and also let you know you can avoid these YouTuber mistakes too. When you're copying a YouTuber who is already successful, their videos will usually perform way better than yours will. It's like that because they already have a fanbase of people waiting of every new upload.Example: FaZe Rug can pull hundred of thousands of views within just a few minutes of uploading a video. Larger YouTubers can also use very simple titles and it’s still going to get thousands of views instantly. If you or I tried doing that, it wouldn’t go the same way because we’re don't have the same initial boost in views which will basically carry the video onto getting even more views every day after being uploaded. A lot of YouTubers also don’t do much in their descriptions either, other than adding social media links. If you’re a new YouTuber, don't copy that because descriptions are one of the easiest ways to grow your channel if you actually use it properly, so keep that in mind!#2 Uploading a variety of content can be both GOOD and BAD!This isn't the worst thing to do when you’re first starting out because it will help you see what you enjoy the most and it will also help you see what gets more views as well. The issue is that when you finally start growing faster because one of those things starts working and getting you views, you'll need to cut back on the other variety of content. Example: You grow from making vlogs but then start uploading gaming let’s plays, the people who subbed to you for vlogs are going to stop watching. The YouTube algorithm will be able to see viewer interest through your Click Through Rate (the percentage of people who actually click your video when they see your video on their screen). When this falls, YouTube usually recommends the video less because when it already does, people aren’t clicking on it. Largers channels are allowed to upload different things but it goes back to my initial point above. They can do this because their fans and viewers will click on the video regardless of what get’s uploaded. A great example with this is FaZe Clan’s transition from gaming to vlogs. When people like the creator for who they are, they will come to watch no matter what gets uploaded. But when you first start, you don’t have that same power to get audiences to jump different kinds of content. If people like your video enough to watch most of it, YouTube can see that your audience retention is high, and use that information to recommend your video. That’s basically how you gain new subscribers and new viewers, and I have made a very specific video on how to gain more watch time that you should check out (linked below).#4 Raising Your Click Through Rate On YouTube.CTR (click through rate) is the number of clicks, divided by the number of thumbnail impressions, or how many times your thumbnail is seen on YouTube. YouTube says that half of all channels and videos on YouTube have an impressions click through rate that can range between 2% and 10%. If you’re on the low side of that, try changing your thumbnails! Then see if your click through rate increases or decreases. Sometimes I’ll have a video that I think was amazing but my click through rate was very low and then YouTube didn’t recommend it to more people. It realized others didn’t want to click it when they saw it. So, then I would change my thumbnail maybe the next day or a week later and I’d usually see a big improvement.#5 Study which videos perform well and why.Certain videos will help you gain more subscribers on YouTube and help you get more views on your videos. So finding which of your videos do better than other and get you more subscribers and viewers is a crucial step to take as a gaming channel, all you need to do is check your analytics! It could be as simple as the game you’re playing, the thumbnail, the facecam lighting, the topic you’re talking about. If your channel stands out then you have a great chance to gain more subscribers on YouTube when new people find your it. If they see that you’re effort into your channel art, your channel logo, and ideally your channel thumbnails, then there’s a pretty good chance that you’ll be able to convert a random viewer into a new subscriber!#2 Upload consistently on YouTube.This of this kind of like when your favorite TV show comes on every week at the exact same time. You probably get ready and sit down to watch it premiere. YouTube is what a lot of people watch instead of TV these days. So this is a great way to gain more subscribers fast, literally just to upload more often and upload on a schedule. Do your best to follow this schedule and people will keep coming back for every upload. It'll become a part of their daily routine, which will then help you gain active subscribers fast. From what I’ve seen, YouTube definitely recommends new viewers to channels that upload often. If you think about it, YouTube itself is a robot that looks at a bunch of different elements and SEO is the most important element on the site. I truly think that the content on your channel is only like 30-40% of what helps grow a YouTube channel. There are certain things that YouTube looks at to decide which videos it pushes out to what people, and which videos are hidden on page 20 of the YouTube search results, that no one will ever see.#4 Spend Time On Thumbnails And Get Them Right For All Platforms.Below I've linked a video on how to make really good thumbnails.
