◤Crying◢ Haunted Hearts AMV HALF ASLEEP DAYDREAM 2020-09-21 | ◤Read the description for more info!◢Weee animoootI learned how to prevent the animation from becoming fuzzy like the last animation (Time AMV). Turns out it was a compression issue that exporting as MP4 does. To prevent it you have to export it as AVI since its uncompressed and you have more control over how much is compressed. the file size will be bigger, but it prevents the pixely blurriness from happening. It's also best to convert the AVI file back into MP4 since its better for youtube uploads. I've only ever used CSP for making gifs so I thought its time that I make a full video with it. I think I'm getting the hang of it! I'm not going to stop using Flash since both it and CSP has its strengths and weaknesses.Also, I've decided that more of my MVs I post will be similar to this one and ones you see in wip dumps, which are sketch animations. I honestly find more joy in making these kinds of animations since I'm able to make whatever is on my mind instead of spending time on only making a few animations and posting those.Also also, don't mind the fuzziness at the end. i tried rendering this several times and nothing seemed to change. If you watch any of my other animations you might have noticed that I'm a sucker for gooey morphing animation, and this is no different. I love being loose and not as solid with my art and animation.I'm also really happy with the lipsync and a lot of the motions. I'm also happy with the drop shadows. If you look closely, there's a faint blurry shadow around the lines. I did this with my Hated by Life Itself PMV and found its great for having characters popping out more especially if they're drawn in a clean style. In post-editing, I added zoom blurs to fake motion blurs which helps bring everything together.One thing I had trouble with was the part where Kris' face being reflected in the paper. The frame of the paper would easily get lost in the chaos and would be hard to notice. I tried remedying that by making the lines 10 pixels thick instead of my usual 1 so it stands out. I'm not sure if it worked that well though.~~*~~[]Lipsync tips:I learned a lot about lipsyncs during this!when doing them, I recommend doing a small test mouth in the corner like what I did in the sketches. Only draw the most notable sounds, not every sound. Mouths tend to mumble and blend positions together unless you're shouting. To go along with this, don't exaggerate every position. Remember, a screaming "AH" will make a different shape than a quiet "ah". Context matters. When doing the lips, try saying the words to yourself in the same way the audio is to get the idea of the shape instead of saying isolated letters.Back to test mouths, they're also helpful if your animation is a sideview. Lipsyncing in the sideview is harder to do that a front view so having one as a reference helps.Another thing is teeth. teeth are solid and don't really move around much, only up and down mostly. Most of the movent comes from the flesh itself. If you go through frame by frame with the period and comma keys on desktop, you'll notice when the teeth are closed, they don't move, but the flesh around it does. Sometimes you can see gums. Keeping teeth placement consistent helps give the illusion that your character has a skeleton underneath.Tongues are very fast muscles. I also gave it more personality with there being more movement in their posing and a better smug grin. They are also very floofy. So floofy. I feel like I'm getting more confident in my linework.I had a few troubles with the colors since the saturation of the old ones really clashed soo I dulled them a lot. I wished I could've made it colorful like the 2017 one, but with this one I decided to stick with more of a desaturated color palette since now I kinda enjoy having a sort of dull, but vibrant color palette (idk how to explain it)What I can improve on is when I try to add effects but it washes out the image. I tried adding color effects similar to the 2017 version, but it blurred and made the drawing not as solid. Maybe it was the layer blending modes I was trying to use? I also need to focus more on minor details. The drawing looks great from afar, but not so much up close. I also should've added a foreground element like a branch or something going across to show more depth. I did slightly with a bit of leaves and the lines of light, but I feel it's not solid enough to push the idea of depth.Overall, I think it's pretty good and shows how I improved a whole bunch in just 3 years! This year I found out that I actually really enjoy drawing backgrounds, so I thought I'd do one that's a little more detailed.I love the trees that sort of makes the supports of the structure. However, I wished I added a little more depth to this since I feel it's a little flat. It's also not that clear that this is a train station.~~*~~[]About the drawing/speedpaint: I came up with this idea when I was in school, which is the idea of Chara and Frisk at a train station looking up at the stars because they will be leaving their world to the next (Fallen World to Stargazers World)The changes made from the original idea was that the color scheme was going to be reminiscent of the series cover hauntedhearts-au.tumblr.com/post/183195324041/series-cover with its bright blues being contrasted with red highlights. I changed it because I didn't want this looking too similar to the cover due to the framing. Another change was that the flooring wasn't going to be normal, but a sea that they stood on. This was changed due to the other platform in the background, so a whole sea wouldn't work as well. This idea was still kept with the red reflection. (I honestly wished I kept the sea flooring)When I was messing with colors, I did not stick with the white background due to it looking washed out and blurring out details. I kept this with only red and purple just to have simplicity and so that the red really pops.~~*~~[]Song choice: I thought the songs were fitting for what this artwork represents, which is saying goodbye to the world. First is of Chara singing songs to Frisk and stopping due to how much everything was changing. Frisk trying to sing to Chara, wondering what's wrong as well as noticing how the world is falling apart. Then Chara singing about how they will miss the world and hope they will see Frisk again in the next world. Blue lyrics is Frisk and red is Chara.__Also funny headcannon, even though both Frisk and Chara in this AU are non-binary and are androgynous, design-wise, Frisk slightly leans more on the masculine side and Chara leans more on the feminine side. But, Chara has a more harsher and slightly more masculine voice as opposed to Frisk, being more lower, softer, and slightly more feminine. Idk just a random thing. ◤EXIT◢ MAP pt. 16 | Haunted Hearts HALF ASLEEP DAYDREAM 2019-10-09 | WHAT'S THIS??? A MAP PART??????Yes, it is. I freakin did it I did a thing. This was really fun and kinda experimental.Also, how I did the pixel effect is that I did the animation normally and added a mosaic filter to it in hiltfilm (editing software). Under the settings, there should be two sliders with the names "Horizontal Blocks" and "Vertical Blocks". Set one slider to be really high (this will have the pixel blocks be solid rather than blurry) and the other smaller (this one influences how large the pixels are) It doesn't matter which as long as one is large and the other is smaller. ◤CUTLERY TIMELAPSE◢ 1 Hour Animation Challenge HALF ASLEEP DAYDREAM 2019-08-25 | ◤Read Description For More Info!◢Animation only here: youtube.com/watch?v=ev0D-tdqQOA!!Read HAUNTED HEARTS the Undertale+Deltarune AU comic here!: hauntedhearts-au.tumblr.comTimelapse of my first 1 hour animation challenge! Could have been better, but hey I manage to make it till the end!The only thing done to the animation file before the timer starts is just adding the audio and lyrics so its pure animation shown.__◤Goals◢:✔Do some kind of lipsync|| Managed to get proper lipsync in the last few minutes.✔Have some animation so its not a PMV (only still pictures) || Still a lot of stillness. Wish I had more time to make it more animated and lively. Still got the goal though.✔Have a story, not random animations || Done it but its a story you all have seen a million times on my channel. It's the only part of their story I could think of on the spot without spoiling anything else of their story (saving future events for the comic)✔Loop animation|| Little wonky but it loops. I also cut the audio in a way that it would kinda sound like a loop as well.?Have the story be understandable|| Up to you guys to decide if it was a fail or success.❌Have variety of colors|| I don't count the red since I only used a very small amount. I wanted to color in at least the hair and other larger details with a lighter version of the lineart color. Didn't get to it though.__◤Self Reflection◢:I think I've done pretty well for the first time and there's always more room for improvement! I feel I spent too long scraping and changing a lot of things (as you see with the many times I deleted a drawing, used the eraser tool, or redrew something) I also spend a while with replaying the animation. It's important to replay your animation to find mistakes, but for a challenge where you are on a time crunch, its best to keep it at a minimum. I also wished I tried to be more ambitious. Yes, I think its fun to watch the final product, but it feels basic. Should have tried more things than having the timer scare me into doing only simple straight ahead shots.I feel the lyrics on the bottom were kinda poorly handled. They don't pop out and its hard to read them while watching the animation. I wished I put the border a little above the text so it pops out more. This is why a lot of my animations have a black bar on the top and bottom along with the lyrics in the bottom black bar.The biggest problem I had was with the recording lag. When recording (I use obs), there will be a ever so slight lag. This is not a problem when doing a normal drawing like what I do with my other speedpaints since I take my time and is not as noticeable. When animating, especially when drawing fast, not all lines register or follow your movement (like if you do a curve but then it lags and makes a straight line from your starting point to the end point) so I had to draw a little more slower so the majority of lines work. All of this is usually not a problem when not recordingOverall, I do like the end product but could have been better with more proper time management and being more ambitious. ◤HAUNTED HEARTS◢ Fallen Again Speedpaint [Undertale/Deltarune AU] HALF ASLEEP DAYDREAM 2019-06-23 | ~*Please Read The Description*~I decided to take a quick break from working on chapter 1 to do this thing. I thought I could try and work on some monochrome painting and such. Chapter 1 is going pretty well! I got a lot of aesthetics down and now everything can run smoothly rather than messing and fiddling around with the posing and such~~*~~[]Time taken-Drawing: 2 hoursEditing: 2-3 hours[No breaks]2 days combined with breaks[]Used:Clip Studio Paint EX [Drawing]AviUtl [Editing]~~*~~[]Self-reflection:I really love this and I feel I'm getting better with doing the trees and grass stuff. I'm also happy with how Chara and Frisk came out though I did feel I could have made those arms better. I feel I should have put in a little more work on putting details on the top of the drawing since it feels a little empty. I'm not sure how to feel about the perspective but I feel its alright for the most part but could need some adjusting. Overall I feel its pretty nice but can use a little work on perspective and just putting a little more time into refining details.~~*~~[]About the drawing/speedpaint:This drawing can both be seen as the first fall at the very beginning or can be seen as the many resets and how they always fallen back into the start though the lyrics of the song points more towards the many resets.This does take place in the undertale like world but the pillars in this world are large black trees with red leaves like the one in front of Toriel's house.~~*~~[]Song choice:The song chosen was The Synesthesia Ghost by Nekobolo. It's a gorgeous song I've loved for a long time and thought it would fit in with undertale, the au, and this speedpaint. They're are many ways to interpret the song but the idea for it in the context for the au is that Frisk is starting to restart a bunch, feeling unhappy and lying a lot (ACTing if you will). Originally I went for a more realistic shading style but switched it to a more cleaner cell shaded look which I feel was a good call since I felt semi realistic fur would feel out of place I'm not sure about the colors I've chosen since it may clash with the rest of the map, but at the same time I think it kinda works since the next part has a more purple palette and because the situation during this part is more intense so the colors could help with that feeling? Idk-On the positive side, I really like the beginning part. Its really vivid and I think I pulled it off. Also while working on my part I had the advantage of knowing what the completed parts before and after mine looked like since I started a little late (thanks shinyarcs and CheekyTiger for working so fast!) I've tried getting back into MAP projects as a participant, but I no longer really feel the drive since I feel the need to work on my comic or try other things.Since I'm also very edit heavy when editing completed MAPs, I've been feeling burnt out from it which was a similar feeling I had when doing the Music Music MAP (youtu.be/bfDHdsE6ZNQ) which was also extremely tasking.
