Outdoor: Testing Forest Munter Hitch (Quick Vlog) Rain Jers Forest 2022-02-05 | This is the addition to my upcoming "how-to" lesson. I like to move across rugged terrain, so I use my extra long ridgeline for crossing gullies. It worked for years but I was curious what about going straight vertically? Due to the new hobby I was able to find out an advanced method and some variations of its using but that will be revealed in the next lesson. In the meantime, you can watch some examples. The very first "primitive" way is anything but safe. I've added it just for fun. However, it's always good to have options. The second one is kind of a classic Munter hitch - I wanted to define its "one-handed" limit when using with 6mm double rope and that specific carabiner. Of course, it's still unsafe but in the worst case scenario we are lack of possibilities. Tree Climbing: Ascending with Petzl Top Croll L Chest Harness (Quick Test) Rain Jers Forest 2021-08-07 | In the beginning, my friends were just curious is it really hard to climb a tree, considering I'm usually over 100kg (+ 6-9 kg of gear)? So, I've decided to use my heart beat sensor during next ascent because numbers don't lie. That day I didn't push as hard as I'm used to. In such scorching heat it's quite a dangerous to one's health. I've even made a serious mistake (very rare event for me). At the end of the climbing, I thought - why wouldn't I create videos from those footages? The original footages were kind of boring, that's why I filmed a lot of additional climbing (over 200m in total). Well, it didn't help much. It's nearly impossible to film a good quality video in the forest (with action cam). I need a special location for such a purpose.However, the main point is: no matter how cool you are - the hot weather always takes the biggest part of your concentration, much more than one may thinking about. Look, I'm used to work under highest pressure and yet I've made that mistake. So, here is overconfidence too. Also, my goal is to encourage others military veterans to climb trees. The primary advantage of this approach is the full quick release, the secondary one - your speed is not limited by the length of a cord (I prefer 5m, with Yosemite bowline). The main knot is Marlinespike hitch - make sure you don't confuse it with Slip knot (which is its twin). Tree Climbing: First Sawing at Height (Quick Vlog) Rain Jers Forest 2021-04-24 | Here is a quick vlog of my first cuts! If it looks like I barely know what I'm doing - that's exactly how it was. I want to remember all details from that day, so I'll tell you even more . . .My left shoulder was still damaged, wrist was swollen because of the pulling hard back a throw bag, which was stuck in Old Maple (it hit me just a few minutes ago). Also, I was recovering from some cold (well, Covid-19 season and my shortness of breath . . . eventually, I got vaccinated later). Additionally, being in hurry I didn't properly adjust my brand new rope access harness. I must admit - that was all too much for even me. However, I was eager to climb and share that special spring mood by sending "high" five over the ocean . . .-----------------------------------------Currently, I'm concentrated on learning and testing climbing gear. So, there is overkill as always in my videos but I see the light. After frying two cheap ropes while descending, I bought my first reliable one : Tendon Static (40) 11mm. The micro swivel was not helpful at all. Moreover, I've heavily cross-loaded it before that ascent.
