[LIVE] Shiny 9% Tropius after 22,608 REs in Pokémon Sapphire (DTQ #6) jazzthatshiny 2024-01-10 | One of the most insane shinies in my shiny hunting career. Shiny 9% Tropius on the first phase!I could not think of a better way to close out this DTQ then by finding my targeted member on the first phase. As I explain in the video, I should have phased on at least 11 other shinies before finding Tropius. However, the shiny hunting gods must having been looking out for me. And as a result, I got insanely lucky having found this as fast as I did. This DTQ is particularly special to me because of how it runs parallel to my time spent on returning to college and finishing my degree in music education. The last year and a half has been a ruthless journey and a roller coaster of emotions. Reflecting back on these members, I can callback memories from my time spent in school and the events that occurred alongside them. [LIVE] Shiny Feebas after 7,852 cumulative FEs in Pokémon Sapphire! (DTQ #5) jazzthatshiny 2023-09-11 | It truly is beyond crazy to have my own shiny Feebas and Milotic in generation 3. As I mentioned in the video, I've never actually seen a wild Feebas till I started this hunt. I remember as a kid being super frustrated from fishing a bunch and never being able to find it in the wild. I always thought that maybe it was just an extremely rare encounter. So for me, just seeing a Feebas is so cool. To actually find a shiny one? Absolutely unbelievable.While most people hate fishing in these games, I actually found it quite enjoyable. I think it was a nice change in pace from the hunts that I typically do. It definitely made it hard to watch my tv shows at the same time. But, I still enjoyed it none the less. This hunt is actually preparing me for a super special hunt in the future. But more on that later.Lastly, shiny Milotic. Wow, I mean, what a gorgeous shiny. This one has always been up there for me. And so really it was only a matter of time till I hunted one for myself. And now, I am the proud owner of a full-odds one in it's original generation *brushes dust off shoulders*Up next is 9% Tropius! Shiny Trapinch after only 2,384 REs!It's honestly beyond cool to have my own shiny Flygon. Flygon was always one of those Pokemon growing up that I just absolutely adored. It was strange to me that it wasn't a pseudo, being that it was a three stage dragon evolutionary line. But that never took away from how great of a design it was.This DTQ has been coming together quite nicely. I can only hope that it continues that way. Up next is Feebas! [LIVE] Shiny Torkoal & three other shinies after 23,348 cumulative REs in Pokémon Sapphire (DTQ #3) jazzthatshiny 2023-08-13 | Super stoked to have this shiny pie on the team! Torkoal is definitely up there as one of my favorite gen 3 Pokemon. And the fact that I have a shiny one on the team makes me love it even more. Honestly, I'm super stoked with how this hunt went. Considering that 18% is not necessarily common by any means, I couldn't have asked for better phase odds. Not only did I manage to find it under phase odds, but also, not a single dupe! Which is nice because I wouldn't mind returning here to throw Camerupt on a future DTQ. It's been really nice to do random encounters again. I've already started my hunt for Trapinch and look forward to finding that sooner rather than later. Since Feebas and Tropius draw ever closer, I'm going to take this time to enjoy random encounters while I still can, haha. Thank you guys for all the support, I seriously mean it. It is so nice to find a full-odds shiny after so long. I highly discourage it though and can't think of a worst way to hunt for a shiny in gen 3. Simply put, if there's a more effective and easier way to hunt something, just do that. Can't believe it shined so quick as well!Like I said in the video, when I found out that Girafarig was getting an evolution I was BEYOND stoked. I knew that it absolutely had to be on my team. I'm really happy that the shiny for Farigiraf ended up being phenomenal too. Maybe even better than the original.Farigiraf has easily become one of my top 5 favorite Pokemon of all time. Really love the design and concept of the Pokemon. But I also really appreciate that they took an already S tier Pokemon and made it even better. It's kinda crazy too that I didn't phase on something considering how many different Pokemon you can encounter on this route.I forgot to include this in the video, but for this hunt I used a sandwich with encounter psychic power lvl 1. This helped to increase the Flittle encounters ever so slightly. Obviously encounter power 2 would have been more ideal but you don't acquire the materials for that till after beating the 6th gym leader.Glad this one was fast. Now onto one of my all time favorite gen 2 Pokemon, Girafarig. And then after that, my favorite gen 9 Pokemon, Farigiraf! [LIVE] Full-Odds Shiny Fuecoco after 7,297 Eggs Hatched in Pokémon Scarlet (Safari Theme DTQ #1) jazzthatshiny 2022-12-14 | Can't think of a better way to start of a DTQ in a brand new generation than with a full-odds shiny starter! I'm going to be brutally honest here and say that this hunt is as monotonous as they come. Collectively, this hunt took over 250 hours to complete. And here's why... When breeding in this game you have to wait for the eggs to appear rather than walking around until they generate. There are ways of speeding this up via higher sandwich powers (egg power 2 & 3), breeding Pokemon of the same species or having parents that are from different trainers. However, because I did not have a means of obtaining a Fuecoco from someone else I decided to just use my own. I also sufficed with using egg power 1 since I didn't want to play through the game to unlock egg power 2. This made egg breeding brutally slow (about 35-45 per every 30 minutes). That is partly my fault, but I also wanted this Fuecoco to be as authentic and honest to my DTQ as possible.During the hunt there were times when my game crashed and I lost hundreds of eggs that could have well been the shiny. But, we'll never know. Because of this I saved my game every time I obtained a batch of eggs just to ensure that if my game would crash I wouldn't lose all those eggs. This however made it even longer of a hunt since I had to release every individual Fuecoco after hatching them.You may have also noticed that I hatched Fuecoco on a special route. The reason for hatching it in the back alley ways was to force the game into a special egg hatching cut scene. The game does this when there is not enough room for the egg to hatch in the overworld. This made the hunt slightly longer too, but I didn't mind since I really wanted the alternate egg hatching screen.Needless to say, this hunt was brutal but absolutely worth it in the end. I'm really happy to have this little guy on the team and I can't wait to start playing this game!Up next is Flittle! [LIVE] Shiny 10% Sneasel after only 36 REs and 2 Phases in Pokémon Crystal VC (Dark Theme DTQ #3) jazzthatshiny 2022-01-26 | Absolutely speechless. It really feels like the stars aligned just for this very moment to happen. Shiny Sneasel - one of my all time favorite Pokemon - after only 36 REs and 2 phases!I've really been struggling to figure out what to put here. It is beyond surreal to not only have found a 10% shiny, but to have found it so ridiculously fast. I can't say I wasn't expecting a faster hunt given how Smeargle turned out. But this was beyond quick. Believe it or not shiny Sneasel took quite a while to grow on me. I remember borrowing my friend's action replay back in elementary school and using a hack to make all my Pokemon shiny. When I saw shiny Weavile for the first time I actually really didn't like it. The shiny was so different and contrasting from the original that it turned me off from it. It wasn't until I got into shiny hunting that I really started to appreciate it. But without a doubt I can say that shiny Sneasel looks best in gen 2. The yellow and pink used is so nice and it compliments the Pokemon very well.Would really like to see more people do this hunt! Shiny Sneasel in my opinion has to be one of the best shinies in gen 2. And I can't believe it's a part of my collection. I can't emphasize enough how freak'n proud I am to own both shinies of my favorite ever Pokemon in their original generation. In a way it's like everything has come full circle. My childish appreciation for Pokemon has blossomed into something that is even deeper than when I was a kid. And after a lot of thought and research I found that doing a full "Dark Theme DTQ" would be something perfect for the job! As I mention in the video I absolutely LOVE dark type Pokemon. Thus I thought it'd be a cool idea to pay tribute to them in the generation that they debuted in! The nice thing about crystal is that for a few of the dark type Pokemon, their encounter rates are boosted which makes them much more viable to hunt. Which was partly the main reason I chose to hunt in Crystal as oppose to Silver or Gold.Totodile may not be a dark type, but oh boy does he look like one. I present to you, my proudest ever shiny and favorite Pokémon of all time… The first ever, LIVE shiny Smeargle in gen 2!I'm back guys! First off I wanted to apologize for the long hiatus. Aside from some personal things that have been going on in my life, I have been dedicating 100% of my time spent hunting on this hunt. And boy did it pay off.I started this hunt back in late March of this year. And I can't believe it's already almost October! Going into this hunt I did not set my expectations high and was completely aware of my phase odds. Unfortunately, it may have gone a little worse than I expected. On average I should have found Smeargle after only 10 phases. But instead I went to 16! Throughout the course of this hunt I could feel my sanity draining and my patience as a shiny hunter being tested. However the thought of finding a shiny Smeargle was enough to keep me going through all of it (and of course your guys continuous support!) And I think it's fair to say I won't be doing one of these again anytime in the near future, haha.My advice to you if you plan to ever do a hunt like this is to keep yourself busy with other hunts. ESPECIALLY if there's only 1 other thing you can phase for in the area, lol. I can't speak on behalf of all shiny hunters, but what I'll say is that a shiny is only worth what you think it's worth. I've seen people go for some crazy rare stuff. But if it's something you don't really care about, I would not recommend doing it. Use that time on something that'll be worth your while.This is one of my proudest ever shinies, and I'm so happy I get to share it with you all. And thank you guys so much for over 500 subscribers! I thought this would be a perfect hunt to celebrate such a milestone. And I've never been more happier or proud than now to be a shiny hunter. I am unbelievably grateful for my phase luck this time around. As I was able to get both possible encounters in this cave in only 2 phases!Shiny Hydreigon is one of my all time favorite Pokemon. It's fierce and ghoulish demeanor makes it one of the coolest Pokemon ever made to date. In the hands of trainers like Ghetsis, Iris and strong ones alike, it serves well to make any trainer amongst the highest of ranks. Which is exactly why I just had to have it on my team! My favorite gen 5 Pokemon is finally here after 10,842 SRs. Shiny Volcarona!When I say Volcarona is my favorite gen 5 Pokemon, I really do mean it. This Pokemon brings me so much nostalgia and in my opinion is one of the highlights of gen 5 Pokemon designs. Aside from it have a jaw-dropping shiny, I love the concept and lore of this fiery bug monster.As I mentioned in the video, one of the things I missed most about the older Pokemon games were the secrets. Adventuring into the unknown and finding things that the game does not talk about was one of the most fun things to do in Pokemon. I really hope they bring this back in future games!My first experience ever playing gen 5 was in Japanese, since I had gotten the games while I was in Japan almost a year before their English release. Most of the game I had experienced blindly, while having my friends translate certain parts just so I could make it through (my japanese wasn't - and still - isn't very good, haha). This only added more to the excitement of discovering Volcarona, and did not take much to make it one of my favorite mons.Anyways, I could blabber on for years about this guy. Dream Team Member #4!I know my Deerling hunt was cruel to me. But, this definitely makes up for it. I was hoping this hunt would be on the shorter side since the space/area I was hunting it in was extremely awkward and tedious. So, thank you shiny gods for listening to my pain, haha. Eelektross is such a nostalgic Pokemon to me, and is one of the many bad-ass designs in gen 5 that makes these games so memorable. Earlier this day, I was reading a tweet from Dr. Lava's Pokemon on Twitter about the unique style of gen 5 designs, and why Art Director Sugimori found that a lot of them didn't "look" like Pokemon. A lot of them are very aggressive by nature and have almost intimidating and scary designs. Which is what I think is exactly what Pokemon needed to spice things up. I remember as a kid gen 5 getting a lot of hate because these monsters didn't "look" like Pokemon. However, while I too was shocked by the new look of the Pokemon, they eventually grew on me and deepened my appreciation for Pokemon and the Unova region. Now I can say gen 5 is one of my all time favorite generations, second only to gen 2.Sorry for all the yapping... I just think this game and Pokemon don't get the respect and merit they rightfully deserve. Eelektross is just one example of why gen 5 is such an amazing generation. The 3rd member of my shiny White 2 Dream Team Quest, shiny Deerling!I simply cannot express how happy I am to have finally found this after 4 phases and a total of 32,554 REs. Having found 3 shiny Swadloons, my hopes were definitely not very high. But I guess it eventually felt sorry for my sad soul and decided to shine after a brisk 3,003 random encounters! Personally I love the spring and autumn variants of Deerling, and love even more how the spring variant is representative of the sakura (cherry blossom) - my absolute favorite flower and season of the year in Japan. It was a toss up for me between going for Ferroseed or Deerling. Both are unique in their own ways, one being extremely bad-ass and the other graceful/majestic. However, Deerling and Sawsbuck's unique seasonal variants really stood out to me, since in these games seasons are an exclusive feature to gen 5. That is why I opted for Deerling as part of my team! [LIVE] Shiny Braviary after 17,776 SRs in Pokémon White 2 (DTQ #2) jazzthatshiny 2020-12-30 | DTQ member #2 is finally ours! Shiny Braviary after a whopping 17,776 SRs in Pokemon White 2.What better way to end off the year then with a shiny Braviary for our White 2 DTQ! I was admittedly scared that I was not going to find this by the end of 2020. So for the last week or so I REALLY was putting in the numbers (about 1,500 to 2,000 a day). As I said in the video I was not expecting this to become my new longest hunt. But as with most shinies, you can never really say for sure when they'll shine, right? None the less, I am so happy to have found this beautiful blue eagle now rather than never. As a word of advice, I would advise anyone who plans to do this hunt to take the time to prepare thoroughly. This Braviary is at an exceptionally high level for this point in the game and can easily knock out your entire team in a matter of turns. There is also the chance of it getting knocked out by sandstorm (which unfortunately is there everyday). This can be easily avoided by brining some higher level Pokemon as well as anyone that can get rid of sandstorm with other weather effects or cloud nine. Still knowing the risk, there was no way I could pass up the opportunity on having one of my most favorite gen 5 Pokemon on my Dream Team Quest. [LIVE] Shiny Oshawott after only 1,238 SRs in Pokémon White 2 + Evolutions (DTQ #1) jazzthatshiny 2020-12-08 | Welcome to the start of my Dream Team Quest over in Pokémon White 2!I believe I should preface this a bit by explaining why this shiny has shocked me so much. Before double hunting this little guy, I had reached 1,200 SRs after about a week of single hunting when I decided to pickup another copy of White 2 that my friend generously sent to me. After about only 30 minutes into the hunt and only 38 soft resets while double hunting (19 on the copy I had just received), Oshawott decided to shine! I have never found a shiny of any kind that fast - let alone a full odds one... Generation 5 has always stuck out to me as being one of my favorite gens with some of the coolest designs. Thus is the reason I chose to go ahead and make a DTQ for this game! Some of the members are exclusive to White 2 which is why I am hunting on this game as supposed to White/Black/Black 2 in case you were wondering.I hope you guys enjoy the video and stick around towards the end for the evolutions into Dewott and Samurott!
