IMO it's actually causes a blockage of what is visible. I'd also like to say that these water bands are causing a ramping up effect. Visualize multiple mirrors set on an angle that are spread miles apart in intervales that causes this ramping up effect. IMHO it's not different gases in the atmosphere that causes the colours in the sky otherwise we'd see the entire sky changing colours. It may appear to be direct sunlight just like it appears the sun is going beyond a curve but in reality no curve is required to make something appear to go beyond a curve. All in all you be the judge of what this video shows.
Reflections of Light Off Water wide awake 2023-03-03 | These were four 25 minute timelapses videos. The sun's light reflected off the water for over an hour after the sun departed our angular view. If you think the clouds are being lit up from from the sun's direct light you don't pay attention to much. I've seen the tops of the clouds still lit from the top was white while underneath was also lit up red in the east after the sun departed. Just watch these clouds and you know it's not direct sunlight hitting them.

I don't see the rocket itself with my own eyes and I see is the red flames that allows me to find it and zoom in on it.
