Using the SmartRig, you can connect a high-quality external mic, which is much preferable when you are trying to shoot quality video via a smart phone. This review of SmartRig is made by Bassocantor. As you can see & hear in this video, he used the SmartRig to connect a standard Shure mic to his Samsung Smartphone. The mic connects via the standard plug to the bottom of the pre-amp.
