Another double feature, meaning PR streak is up to 31 now, we are officially in the big leagues.
These comps were pretty good! My only goals coming in were to maintain the streak but I did so much more than that. First, in Quiet, while I am still disappointed in how 5bld went, I’m very happy with finally improving my 4bld single for the first time in almost two years! Multi-blind was surprisingly amazing considering that I don’t practice it, and FMC went incredibly probably due to the fact that I do practice it. Moral of the story, practice more 5bld. Also we went to a Round1 nearby which is where the Pluto Relinquish clip that I uploaded yesterday came from.
As for the loud comp, there’s not much to say. I got a pretty good Megaminx result despite actively hating the puzzle, 4x4 was okay, though I don’t appreciate all the 50s, and 2x2 was fine, but I finally broke my year-old Skewb average with a 4.24, bringing myself back to being top 3 in Nevada. Somehow it’s an afterthought to me destroying my overall PB in 3x3 average by nearly half a second though. I don’t even know how I did that.
So yeah, that’s it! I have five more comps coming up, starting with a double feature in Reno, then a quick competition in Denver, to Belmont to cap off 2025, then to Utah to kick off the new year. We are going places.
Hopefully the streak lasts until then.

gg ^^ Golden Arrow AAA soon, got a 971k on Thursday and a 953k in this session with an iffy up arrow
96th SP-AAA (according to DDR World), 6th S15 AAA, highest scoring S15, first actually decent score in almost two years, so on and so forth WE WIN THESE
Golden Arrow/Jungle Dance AAA soon! (idk which one I’ll do, Jungle Dance is further along but I’ve been told Golden Arrow is easier)
Yeah, this was my favorite comp by far. Probably not as good of a weekend as Worlds, but definitely on par with it, and in terms of competition it blows everything out of the water.
Results wise, even though I had only 3 official PRs, they were by far and away the most insane records I gave myself, from dropping my 7x7 personal records by almost 20 SECONDS, both of which being overall PBs by several seconds, and my 5bld single improving by NINE WHOLE MINUTES. Apart from that, I had a lot of close records, meaning I’m far more consistent at most events that aren’t 3x3, Megaminx or OH.
I only wish that 4bld and Skewb Finals had gone better, or that I didn’t forget my 2x2 and Pyraminx mains in my suitcase on Day 3, but hey, what can you do.
While I would’ve made 3BLD Finals had I not misflipped edges or did a wrong turn, it would’ve caused me to miss my flight so I don’t really care all that much. Besides, none of those would have been PR single.
Staffing was also a blast, and it made me realize that I really love doing everything in a competition. Thanks to all the staff (and Cary) who signed my shirt :)
also first comp in Vegas! if this is any indication it definitely won’t be my last! (plus I may actually practice master magic now after getting 4th here)
Due to staffing, I didn’t spend much time outside the competition, but that doesn’t mean I didn’t have some good times. Another staffer and I went to a rhythm game arcade at the end of Day 2, and actually got to see an ITG cab for the first time, and had such a blast I decided to put it at the end of this! (oh yeah I played SMX then too, was fun lol)
but yeah! the next two videos will be double features, similar to East Bay Big and Blind/WCC FMC Under the Mistletoe, and Nevada Championships/QuietChamps, basically it’s a PBQ, and then a main competition the day after, which I am putting into one video.
PR streak is at 29 :) see you in SacQuiet where either the streak ends painfully or WE GET TO 30 WOOOOOOOOO

I honestly think this is in the running for my top 3-5 favorite comps ever looking back, I had a wonderful experience and had incredible results, was just vibing the entire time while staffing, and while the setup was… something, the vibes were definitely not off, as they usually aren’t in this room.
results were FAR better than expected. all I wanted was to extend the streak (we’re at 28 now!) and we got that and SO much more. I have a habit of choking OH, so clutching PR the way I did was pretty insane. all the big cube improvements were really nice to see. and of course I especially didn’t expect to snag my 3rd ever podium and break a near-21-month standing PR THREE TIMES IN A DAY.
i also brought one of my closest irls to their first comp! they say they had a nice time :3
also, on my 5th solve of 5x5, I got my 1000th official WCA solve! only took 8 years lmao
so yeah. pretty great comp. see you at Westerns!

results wise, I’m not quite sure how to describe this one, but overall, despite not making a single cutoff, I think I did really well for what I expected of myself. huge PR average in Pyraminx (PR streak is 27 now btw), and while that was my only PR, I had so many other good solves that got really close (see my pyra and 3bld singles and both my Skewb averages). even my Megaminx and 5x5 solves were really solid and I think they would’ve PR’d if I had 5 solves, but I guess that’ll have to wait until next time :3
but no matter what, the competition comes secondary to the experience I had while I was here. from the moment I landed to the moment I left, it all felt so surreal just being in the same room with so many people who share your passion, night after night sharing meals and your experiences with them, going out and having fun with them, allowing yourself to just exist in the moment, it’s all so incredible. Saturday was one of the most fun days I’ve ever had, and I will not elaborate further.
staying back and watching the finals was one of the best decisions I have ever made, even though we almost missed our flight because of it. it was all so intense and it was further emphasized by the fact that I was there, enjoying it with thousands of other people. I celebrated and cheered with my friends and we all agreed that those were some incredible finals. 3x3 especially like good lord that left me shaking
with all that said, I think at some point the super big comp gets overwhelming. thankfully the next one will go straight back to a smaller local comp with just a few people ^^ (and then we’re right back to the big comps with WESTERNS BABY WOOOOOOOO)
see you in august!

I seriously can’t believe it’s been so long since I’ve been in this venue, the start of my current PR streak (which is now at 26), the first time I ever made second round in any event, the first comp I went to after coming out as trans, the last comp before lockdown, the first comp after lockdown, and not-so-fun fact, the place I was at when Kobe died (rip)
but yeah, so much history with this place, it’s kinda astonishing that I haven’t been here since 2021, it is really fun tho, was always a favorite of mine, along with Berkeley :)
the solves were pretty good, tho pyraminx was kinda unsatisfying bc of barely missing sub-7 and finals. for the first time in history i wanna actually practice this event now.
also sq1 pr but i barely missed sub-20 on that too, and I choked a sub-40 single on 4x4
but yeah! pretty nice comp overall :)

also fun fact i just noticed: i had 2 pll skips this comp, once on 5x5 solve 5 and the other time on 4x4 solve 3, both got me my best counting time in their respective event, and both had oll parity
also i got 6th in Skewb finals, which is my highest ever placement in a Bay comp, despite doing worse (albeit marginally) than i did in round 1, and much worse than i did at Reno mini summer lmao

Since I talked about 2024 in terms of cubing in my Rocklin video, I want to use this video to talk about my goals for next year.
The biggest priority is getting a sub-1:30 average on 5x5, so I can qualify for Worlds. I would also like a sub-25 average for OH, since I’ve been pretty close to it as of late.
I would like to complete the profile and get 4BLD and 5BLD means but I’m not necessarily chomping at the bit for it.
I want to improve all of the records I failed to improve upon in 2024. (4x4 single, 3bld single/mean, 4bld single, 5bld single, MBLD single)
The most outlandish goal that I want is to get Nevada Record in Skewb average. It’s currently at a 3.71, meaning I am 0.72 seconds away. It will be hard, but I would like to at least try. Sub-4 at least would be nice.
okay that’s it see you next year lol

i’m not gonna make a huge “oooh here’s why 2024 was pretty great in terms of cubing” video this year, i don’t have the time. (hell, i did have the time last year and that video came out in may lmao)
instead, i’ll just put a couple of my anecdotes about the year here. firstly, this has mostly been my escape, and my opportunity to make friends starting in 2023, but after joining the reno cube club, i feel like i kicked it up a notch this year.
i went to 9 comps, which beats 2023 by 1, and i can point to distinct memories for all of those, though the results may not have said anything, and that’s because i actually got to chat with a lot more people this time around. while the highs weren’t as high as mountain view, every comp was a blast and, results notwithstanding, i wouldn’t want to do it any other way.
plus, i tried my hand at organizing some competitions, and it’s been so much fun. can’t wait to do more of that next year. OH BY THE WAY GUYS YOU SHOULD GO TO [unannounced comp that i’m co-organizing in february]
it was always so much more fun just going out to a post-comp dinner with friends rather than just walking to the nearby udon shop alone. those memories are probably worth more than the results.
OH BOY, speaking of results. sure you have the really low lows (east bay) and the huge chokes (OH average) (4bld) (that Skewb round 2 in philchamps) but the highs, oh my LORD, they were so much better than i thought they would be.
if you recall from my 2023 video (doubt you watched it lol it sucks) my main goal was to beat my 23.30 OH single from 2020, and i did on the first comp of 2024, but i didn’t expect to beat it TWO MORE TIMES. also i had huge improvements on big cubes, somehow i kept dropping my 4x4 average for a while, the Megaminx average at Davis was insane, i actually got good at Pyraminx??? and i absolutely destroyed my expectations in Skewb by landing a podium at my first Reno comp.
oh and also, despite all the low comps, i still managed to bring my PR streak up to 20, which dates all the way back to sac 7, back in 2019.
and it’s only fitting that in my last comp, i broke what i felt to be two of my most untouchable PRs, both of my 3x3 records, because for the first time all year, i decided to care about 3x3.
it’s even more fitting that the last PR i get in 2024 was the one i couldn’t break at all in 2023.
Still woulda liked a sub-25 average tho lol
overall, incredible year. next year is gonna be even crazier. for example, i have a comp in like four weeks lol
see you then!
also I’m working on a best solves of each event video, similar to what i did last year so be on the lookout for that
okay now onto the

This is a project for my composition class. I have spent the entire semester working on and tweaking this, and it's finally at a state that I can be proud of.
This is probably the first composition of mine that isn't either improvised or made on MuseScore in about 30 minutes, and is incidentally the first of my works, otherwise known as, if you’re THAT much of an OG on this channel, the Really Bad Songs I Made, in which I am truly satisfied with what I’ve created.
I hope you enjoy listening to this as much as I did making it.
Side note, I will be playing this for one of my Master's recitals, so uh, stay tuned for that.

god bless fmc for keeping the PR streak alive, we are now up to 19. (tied PR is still PR according to everyone I asked as well as the WCA website)
results wise, East Bay was probably my worst comp since the dreaded Berkeley Summer 2018, whereas UTM was actually really decent, though solve 2 was garbo and solve 3 had so much potential to be amazing.
however, experience wise, both were incredibly memorable, like the 4 hour ride my friend and I took from Reno to Oakland for East Bay, and everyone collectively screaming at solve 2 at UTM.
for East Bay, I was sick the entire week leading up to the comp, so all things considered, I’ll take the results I got.
still mad about choking that 4bld pr tho but it’s whatev. i’ll get it next time.
one last comp of the year, then i got one (maybe two?) in January, one in February, maybe a few others that i haven’t signed up for yet, and then WORLDS BABYYYY
so yeah. stay tuned for that.

First comp in 5 months :D
I’m working on a long cubing video so this was a bit of a break from that. A lot of things I said in that video are already outdated lmao

had this idea for a while, ever since i got full profile.
can’t wait to compete again :)

First session since… about CPMC AAA lmao
GG, 何ちゅうファンキーーーs
Got a full profile in 17 comps, which I’m told is pretty good. (Went from 6 events to all 17 in just 7 competitions lmao)
This was also the first comp I went to that took place in someone’s apartment. It was pretty fun :)
That’s it for now, I’ll see y’all next year, when I try to 100% my WCA profile by getting a 4BLD and 5BLD mean of 3.
Update: new goal. Trying to qualify for Worlds 2025
GG :D

This was by far the best comp I’ve ever attended. 10 PRs, 4 of which were overall PBs.
I am officially a Skweb Main :D
My two goals for this year when i came back to cubing in April were to make Skewb finals, and to get a single in every WCA event.
One down. One to go.
All I need is a single on 5BLD, MBLD, and FMC, all of which I will be competing in next month.
See you then!
(Fun fact: I did register for 5BLD but 4BLD took so long I didn’t have any time to get a solve in.)

The last performance in question: youtu.be/4jOoV_6dIO8?si=3PIp4sLw4vHcWEfI
(okay it wasn’t THAT bad but come on you cannot tell me that right after three mid events and one good solve i just suddenly fall apart for squan and 3x3 r2 and just barely miss out on skewb finals because i got four solves that were at least a second slower than they should’ve been)
Gonna go and compete in all events for BASC 53 to end off the year. Yes, all of them… including 4bld, 5bld, 6x6, and 7x7, which are events that I’ve either rarely solved under cutoff (6x6), never solved under cutoff (7x7), or never solved at all (4bld, 5bld). Boy oh boy.

Gonna be up to 9 next week as i go to BASC51, for my first sq1 solves. See you then!
