Turning a painting into a woodblock print - Sparrows Ginko Hanga 2025-01-29 | This is a different sort of video for me and wont be everybody's cup of tea. I actually made this a little while back now and posted it to my Patreon. I wasn't sure if I was going to post it here on YouTube, remove the middle section, or edit portions for youtube. But in the end I decide to just bit the bullet and post it, there are some really useful portions for print makers in here and even if the rest of the video is not well received at lest those portions will be helpful to some. This video documents a small project I make for my younger sister (website kiowacasey.com and @kiowacasey on instergram ) turning a painting made by my youngest sister (@amado.painting on instergram) into a woodblock print. This was a project dedicated to my mother and I felt it wasn't possible to tell the full story of this print without getting into some personal stuff. I've paired down the personal story as much as I could rewriting the script 4 or 5 times. The original script would have been about a 2 hour video! A man, a snake and Hokusai Ginko Hanga 2024-08-08 | In this video I walk you through the production for the 10th image in the Mokuhankan x The British Museum collaboration project, ‘Hokusai Reborn’. This was a dream to be a part of. It's a very rare project to create woodblock prints from original Hokusai sketches that never made it to publication. Over 180 years after they were inked, I am part of the carving team set with the task to bring 12 of the 103 sketches from Hokusai to collectors all over the world. It's a very delicate and intricate print and it stretched my skills but I've learnt so much.
