After testing multiple smart cameras — including top names like Ring, I can confidently say the Xiaomi Smart Camera C700 is hands-down the best indoor security camera I’ve ever used. In this video, I break down why this camera completely outperforms the competition.
Here’s what makes the C700 stand out:
- True 4K Ultra HD resolution (3840 x 2160): You get razor-sharp image quality that blows 1080p out of the water.
- 360 horizontal + 110 vertical coverage : Thanks to its dual-axis motor, it eliminates blind spots and covers entire rooms effortlessly.
- Built-in microSD support up to 256GB: Store up to one full month of 4K footage locally. No subscription fees. No cloud dependency.
- AI-powered features — Human tracking, pet tracking, baby cry detection, glass-breaking alerts, and smart motion follow.
- Gesture calling — Your kids can wave to the camera and notify you instantly. Not a direct call like WhatsApp, but a quick notification lets you jump in fast.
- Wi-Fi 6: Dual-band support for 2.4GHz and 5GHz ensures faster, more stable connections, even in crowded networks.
- Color and IR night vision: Full-color vision at night in supported environments, and black & white IR mode for low-light scenes.
- Privacy-first design: Includes a physical lens shield, encrypted data transmission, and a dedicated security chipset (MJA1).
HDR Mode Observation:
When HDR is turned on, the image looks significantly brighter and retains more details in both underexposed and overexposed areas — perfect for rooms with intense backlighting. However, I noticed a ghost trailing effect with fast motion when HDR is active. Turning HDR off eliminates the ghosting and improves speed, but you do lose that dynamic range. Xiaomi recommends using HDR only in backlit environments and notes that standard mode may actually appear brighter in normal lighting. Also, HDR won’t work with night vision modes or when the image is in black and white. You can toggle it manually or set it to auto.
And here’s the kicker : all of this comes at a shockingly low price, especially when you compare it to Ring, which still charges you monthly for access to 1080p cloud footage. With the C700, you pay once and get smarter tech, better video quality, and more control.
